Then Marcy Rodriguez steps into his cab. She’s tired, protective of herself, and clearly carrying more than she says out loud. Their first meeting feels small, almost forgettable, but it slowly turns into the turning point of the novel.
What made their relationship feel believable to me is how naturally it develops. It isn’t built on instant romance or dramatic declarations. This book was a warm hug I didn't think I needed. Being very honest, when I looked at the cover and the title, I assumed an emotionally charged, almost a biker type Romance, well it turns out, yes this is a romance, but not in the way I assumed it would be. This book was If I had to describe a heartwarming romantic tale of bravery and healing, trust me on this, while reading you'll feel something heal within you too.
For me the highlight was Characterization, it's not easy to write well done and realistic CHARACTERS, to write realistic CHARACTERS, a writer needs to be aware of every light and shadow that there is to human existence, not only within them but also within other people.
This was a major highlight for me of this book. Let's move on to the big 3s✨
Language: The most important thing about the language is that it's charged yet calm, the language is very simple and easy, so regardless of your English proficiency levels, anyone can read and enjoy this book. When I first picked up the book, it reminded me of the taxi driver in the 'Cleopatra' series of one of my favorite bands, The Lumineers: "Yes my flesh, it was my currency, but I held true/So I drive a taxi, and the traffic distracts me/From the strangers in my backseat, they remind me of you"

Have you ever picked up a book completely by accident and ended up loving it? That's exactly what happened to me. I usually don't choose authors I'm unfamiliar with unless it's a thriller. So, I had my doubts when I bought this one. But I'm glad I was wrong. I stand corrected.
The Last Ride has a warmth I didn't find in any other book I read this year. The story follows two people—Adrian Solano, a taxi driver, and Marcy Rodriguez, a housekeeper—who happen to cross paths, setting off some unexpected events that lead them to where they are today. Written in the third person, the story also offers glimpses into the lives of a few other characters.

In the story we follow Adrian, a taxi driver in the city of La Costa Sierra and Marcy, a housekeeper far away from home. And when they start to meet each other everyday for their work, they start to grow a deeper connection, they start to divulge more about themselves and sparks start between them. But like every relationship theirs is also full of challenges and we get to see how they navigate their life while trying to be in each other's life.
I love the build up of their relationship and how they start to shed their outer self one by one to have more connections. Both the characters and their reactions are way more real which makes the reading more emotional. Even though the main focus is their relationship, I love their own gradual character development. There's so much into the relationship that I cannot even explain.
That does not always happen that a story makes me cry, but this story did. I hated the ending at the same time I love it. It's so real and so true that you cannot dismiss it. I will always remember Adrian and Mercy. They are precious to me now. And if you love to read real romance that conveys - "Love isn't always enough, sometimes, choosing what's right means letting go." Then you should definitely read this book up.

Have you ever started reading a book thinking it's going to be one way only to be completely surprised by its contents? This was one such book for me. This follows our main character Marcy, a housekeeper and Adrian, a cab driver as they make an unexpected connection. While their relationship and feelings bloom, we also get into their past, and what makes them tick. I loved their first meeting, and all the time they spent together, and how they understood each other. The bond was believable, relatable and cute.

This one was such slow, gentle and a not so romantic book rather more of a cab ride journey between two individuals, a driver- Adrian and a passenger Marcy, where they both connect to each other through silences, conversations and experiences.
A journey that stared with a soft connection between two individuals with a slow burn romance moves to a love triangle when Jonah enters in the picture while an adventurous trip to the lake house in the Alpine Springs.
What I really liked about the book was the kind of calm it held despite all the chaos and adventure going on in the life of our MCs. There was some unspoken connection between them that touched my heart. It’s the story of loss, love, courage and promises.
A story where there were no villains just the circumstances that played the role. Where mutual admiration, genuine care and good people lead the plot. A beautifully layered romance that was not complicated but full of tender love, emotional honesty and unforgettable characters.
