A collection of brief looks into the lives of working women - a shop clerk, an office worker, an esthetician, a movie star, and a love hotel manager. Some funny, some touching, all have their struggles.
An enjoyable read, with a great variety surprising from a single author. Mure covers a spectrum of careers and people in a relatively short space. Her characters feel so real (and often so likable) that I found myself wanting to know more about each one as their stories ended. This was a refreshingly three-dimensional portrait of "the Japanese woman" today.
