Friends to Lovers, Best Friend's Sister, Hockey Romance.
The last thing I wanted was to fall for my brother's best friend and teammate. But here we are. I just transferred to Cedar Haven University, and I'm on a mission to start a new chapter after a disastrous breakup. My brother, James, has promised to look out for me, and of course, that means the Cedar Haven Wolves Hockey Team is, too. However, there's one guy I can't stand, but can't seem to get away from. Jett. The grumpy guy who has a reputation for having a new puck bunny in his bed every night. If my brother ever found out I had feelings for his best friend, he would lose his mind. I guess I can't let him find out.
Hockey is my life, and my teammates are my family. My only family. There isn't anything that would ever come between me and my team. But that all changed the moment I laid eyes on Izzy. The beautiful, smart, and sassy sister of my best friend, James. I can't help that I'm falling for her. Still, the more time we spend together, the more the lines blur.
A longtime escapist into books, M.A. Lee began writing cozy mysteries and romances when other sources of that gold ran out. The gold nuggets of Mary Stewart, Georgette Heyer, Andre Norton, Phyllis A. Whitney, and Elizabeth Peters inspired her to write her own nuggets, even if they're only pyrite.
Look for the Into Death series, set after World War I, and the other books in the Hearts in Hazard series.
Favorite Books of all Time: Mary Stewart's My Brother Michael. Mary Stewart's This Rough Magic. Georgette Heyer's Venetia. Ellis Peters' The Virgin in Ice. Andre Norton's Year of the Unicorn
Authors that I will recommend beyond the influences and the favorites: Dorothy L. Sayers. Tony Hillerman. Tamara Leigh. Patricia Briggs. Lindsay Buroker. Linnea Sinclair. W.R. Gingell. Agatha Christie. C.J. Cherryh.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. Isabella is starting her second year of college at Cedar Haven University. She attended Sunnyvale University her first year with her ex-boyfriend. Izzy wanted a new start. Why not start fresh at a new school? She now goes to school with her brother, Dalton. Dalton plays several sports in college. He is THAT guy. Though Izzy loves her brother, standing behind him while he outshines her is not where she wants to be. With the help of her roommate, Sam, Izzy gets out of the house. Izzy tries to be like all the other students but that is just not her. Her social battery needs to be recharged and sitting alone with a good book does that for her.
While out Izzy meets Jett Walker. Jett is teammates with Dalton on the Hockey team and also his best friend. Dalton has been adamant that he does not want any of his teammates hitting on his sister. Jett is solidly in that group of hands off. Unfortunately, Jett and Izzy are instantly attracted to each other. They know they should not do it, but they cannot stay away from each other. Will this couple be able to just be friends? Jett and Izzy understand each other on a level most of their friends do not. They have to take a chance to see where this goes, right?
That is not the only thing going on in this town. The reason Izzy left Sunnyvale University is persistent about getting in contact with her despite the restraining order. Is Izzy just being paranoid when she feels someone watching her? I can't wait to really dive into this series. New school. New group of friends. I am ready for it all.
Trick Shot is a friends to more romance set in the author's Cedar Haven University world. The story finds Isabella "Izzy" and Jett both falling for each other with the complication of Dalton, her brother and his best friend. When she transfers to Cedar Haven University for her sophomore year to start over after a bad break-up. Her very athletic brother Dalton goes to CHU. When she is introduced to Dalton's teammates and friends the sparks fly with Jett. Now they have to figure out how to navigate their growing feelings and a very large and protective Dalton.
Jett and Izzy bond almost immediately but being best friends with her brother makes their situation quite complicated. With an added danger of a stalker, this story was a suspenseful as well as exciting. I could not get enough of this plot and its characters.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
