He was born to inherit an empire. He chose to burn it down.

After years in exile, Khasain returns to a palace ruled by fear, where loyalty is a lie and power rests in poisoned hands. But he no longer dreams of thrones or crowns. He wants only to save the woman he loves—and survive his father’s deadly grip.

Yet blood is not so easily escaped. With every secret uncovered and every enemy unmasked, Khasain is drawn deeper into a game he never meant to play. The past won’t let go. Neither will the gods.

To destroy the tyrant who made him, Khasain must confront the truth of who he is—and who he might become.

Dark, intimate, and unflinching, Dust and Destiny is the thunderous conclusion to the Tales from the Sapphire Sea trilogy. For fans of The Wolf Den, The Poppy War, and Kingdom of Heaven.

I write stories about the apocalypse so that I don't need to work a real job. I grew up reading Stephen King and still haven't fully recovered. I'm currently ending the world in my new series Under the Breaking Sky.

Dust and Destiny (Book 3)

I do not believe I have ever enjoyed a series as much as I did the trilogy by Nick Clausen, “Tales from the Sapphire Sea.” After reading ‘Blood and Sand, (Book 1)’. I continued to read the next two without stopping. ‘Steel and Legend’ then, ‘Dust and Destiny’ books 2 & 3. These stories will take you on a journey filled with excellent characters, good and bad. The world of these adventures is a mix of the hardships of early Earth empires to the extreme lifestyle of the elites. The only difference is the family.
There is so much to like about each tale. The theme winds through the trilogy in such a way that I certainly consider them to be classics that should be read together.
Well-known horror writer Nick Clausen went back to his early roots and translated these books from the original Danish versions to English. I hope this author may revisit the muse that produced this trilogy and provide more of these types of books in his catalog of work. -MrBill
