Rate this book
He said "I do" but meant it for someone else. Now she’s rewriting the ending.
On the day of her perfect wedding, Talia uncovers the ultimate betrayal. A secret message on her groom’s phone... from her best friend and maid of honor but instead of calling it off, she walks down the aisle with a vow of her own—revenge.
As the lies unravel, Talia tracks down the one man who once truly loved her—Liam, the ex who shattered her heart but never forgot her. What begins as a night of reckless escape turns into something darker, steamier, and dangerously cathartic.
One night. One dress. One chance to take back everything.

Cheated by the Groom is a scorching short read packed with betrayal, scandal, heartbreak, and bold female empowerment. Perfect for fans of steamy revenge romance, messy weddings, emotional twists, and endings that hit hard and heal deeper.

This book was only 40 pages, but it still needed a plot (or smut) and this lacked a storyline. It started promising with Talia realizing her groom had been cheating with her best friend /maid of honor, then running to her ex- Liam (all in the blurb).

This was a super short story about a woman who, on her wedding day, discovers her fiancé is cheating on her through messages on his phone. Shockingly, she still goes ahead with the wedding. At the reception, an old flame, Liam, is in attendance. That very night, while her new husband drinks himself into a stupor, she ends up sleeping with Liam. He tells her he misses her, that he loves her, and that he can’t stop thinking about her.

The next day, she confronts her husband Dean and his mistress Cassie, telling them she knows everything and threatening to expose them to Dean’s father — which would ruin Dean’s career at his father’s company. Afterwards, she goes wedding dress shopping again, wanting another dress as a kind of symbol of freedom. There, she bumps into Dean’s cousin, who reassures her that she’s wonderful and that she’s doing the right thing.

From that point, she starts journaling her thoughts, but the story jumps forward to her being with Liam. Three months later, they’re dating, and Dean and Cassie are never mentioned again.

Honestly, this story felt pointless. Why did she even go through with the wedding if the cheating was already exposed? None of it was explored properly — Dean and Cassie vanish from the narrative, there’s no real fallout, and the “resolution” is just her conveniently ending up with Liam. It was so short and underdeveloped that it didn’t feel like it had much purpose at all.

I wish I could give a better rating

Unfortunately, the editing needs improvement, I reached a chapter that seemed to rewrite what was written previously. As a reader, that’s irritating. I understand the aim at showing she is loving herself, but more romance would be good. What is with the part when she meets her (husband’s) cousin? Was there an annulment? I wanted more Liam!

Goodreads suggested this book based on the theme I have been reading lately, and while the idea behind the story is solid, the execution really fell short for me.

This could have been done well if the author had not relied so heavily on AI. Some readers may not realize this, but AI can be guided to match an author’s voice rather than overpower it. I personally use AI often to help edit my own writing because grammar is not my strong suit, but the core of my writing is always mine, and I do not write or make money off of anything I use AI for.

That was not the feeling I got here. Instead, it felt like the author handed AI a concept and let it write the story in its own voice. On top of that, there are noticeable plot gaps that easily could have been caught with better editing and a little more care.

The idea had potential, but the lack of polish and the overreliance on AI made this a disappointing read for me.

I wanted to experience more of this author's writing but this book felt very different than my first book not in style but in editing. It felt like a lot was sacrificed in the interest of keeping the story short (40 pages). It felt confusing and left me with many questions. On the day of her wedding, the h finds a message on her fiance's phone from her best friend and maid of honour asking him for "one last time before you become hers." She goes ahead with the wedding planning revenge but with no mention of dissolving the marriage. At the end of chapter 5, she has reconnected with her ex on her wedding night in his hotel room. In the next chapter "Her back slammed gently against the hotel suite door . . . in a kiss that burned with two years of tension but in chapter 5 "their clothes came off" so how could it have been two years of tension? Somehow the h gathers "copies of texts, screenshots, timelines" to confront her new husband with only 24 hours after finding the text on his phone. When did she do this since she participated in a wedding ceremony, reception and tryst with her ex? I've gone back to reread a few times to try and make it make sense.

What did I just read. So many inconsistencies. When she left her hotel room to go Liams jt was like two difference scenarios happened. The scene was repeated but slightly different. First scene she was wearing the robe second Version she was wearing her wedding dress. She found out day of wedding the H was sleeping with her best friend. But she had time to find “emails texts etc and print them to show the groom the next day. When and where did she do this . And this David person , not sure why he was included.

It’s a very short book can be read in less than 30 mins. Not even sure I would call it a novella. It would have been awesome as the last few chapters in a longer book / storyline . Without the inconsistencies that is.

It’s always the jealous best friend…

Only 40 pages, this story was still able to explore the real emotions and the feelings of the person being cheated on. Dean and Cassie are the cheaters, with her being the jealous best friend and maid of honor. Why does the jealousy arise? If this is your best friend, why aren’t you happy for her instead of destroying her life?

Liam left her two years ago, for no good reason. And there’s no good explanation for his leaving. But he comes back and now they are rekindling their relationship. Interesting…

KU read, short, very short but well written. I liked it a lot.

needs better editing

Liked what the plot was suppose to be but editing fail. It’s like the author rewrote chapters and instead of choosing one she put them all in. It can be confusing; one minute she’s taken her dress off and in a robe but next chapter she’s in the dress and he’s taking it off. Doesn’t make sense.

Short but sweet!

After reading a never ending series, this was a refreshing read. The story was short, but sweet. Couldn't misunderstand were the main characters went wrong and Talia taking her life back, leaving her husband and best friend in the dust. This was a good read.

Classy

A sweet story about revenge served with no drama and a lot of class. Will be looking for more stories by this author 😊

too much repetition

If you read one book then you don’t need to read the rest they are the same. Try something new just not from this series.

ok

The book was short and ok. But there was a lot of discrepancies. For such a short book there shouldn’t have been even one error.

What could have been a really strong short story instead is an incomplete one, a missed opportunity for a novel, nothing fleshed out and no emotion.

Rebuilding your self after betrayal. Never easy and always a journey. The betrayer never stops being the cheater. But the betrayed can always choose to grow.

Confusing

Some of these scenes did not make sense and the timing was off in some chapters, thank goodness it was a short read.

Interesting 🧐

This was an interesting quick read. Probably more like 3.5 ⭐️’s. I loved the plant was a little confused during some of the dialogue but overall satisfying.
