Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.
Robert Kirkman's first comic books were self-published under his own Funk-o-Tron label. Along with childhood friend Tony Moore, Kirkman created Battle Pope which was published in late 2001. Battle Pope ran for over 2 years along with other Funk-o-Tron published books such as InkPunks and Double Take.
In July of 2002, Robert's first work for another company began, with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and Walking Dead.
Just finished Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #6. The arc comes to a brutal, satisfying close — all the buildup pays off with a massive showdown that delivers exactly what this series promised: savage honor, blood, and glory. Kirkman and Ottley made the lead-up feel epic, and when the fight finally hits, it feels earned. A strong, thunderous finish to a surprisingly rich story of purpose and rage. Sad we have to wait 6 months for the next one
The brutal fight between Battle Beast and the Juggernaut continues until they are both mortally wounded and separated. Her brother, the Colossus is revealed to still be alive, and the Viltrumits are sending Conquest to Fantania due to their interest in the strength of these murderous siblings.
The fight was shorter than expected, and kind of underwhelming, but the revels at the end saved the issue.
Ending the arc with a cliffhanger, the violence and devouring nature of the landscape is in full display. Though the art is pretty good, some action panels muddle the details. I look forward to the March return.
I despise how short that issue is, but what a fantastic ride and amazing setup for what is to come in…checks watch…FIVE MONTHS?! That’s worse than umbrella academy, what’s going on here?! Ehhh, if they keep cooking with the art and how good it was in this issue, then I will wait for the next issues to finish baking because this was pure sauce. We pickup immediately where we left off, with juggernaut impaling battle beast as soon as the fighting starts…so what does he do? He drags himself closer so he can take a huge bite out of her shoulder of course! As the juggernaut screams in pain, battle beast uses the opportunity to slash himself free from her talon and finish chewing. Juggernaut slams him into a wall, then knees him through the wall and into the courtyard. With the fight outside they now have a lot more room to move, and try as he might battle best is only able to block her attacks momentarily before she snaps the sword made of her brother into pieces and pins battle beast to the ground. But what she isn’t aware of is the gift the sword was given to heal! All battle beast has to do is hold the hilt near her and the sword regrows right through her body! This gives battle beast the chance to rip it around inside of her and use the other piece of the sword that was sliced off to slice her hand off! And what does juggernaut do? BUT CALL A TIME OUT?! WHAT?! YOU CAN’T DO THAT?! Juggernaut proceeds to admit they are not ready, but will be next time, and physically throws battle beast back out into the woods beyond the castle to pause the fight, giving juggernaut a chance to stumble back inside and promptly pass out to regain their strength. Computer and a still alive and regenerating Prince Salaka are able to make their escape and hide out before juggernaut finds them. Even with a hole in his chest battle beast is only just starting the fight, and juggernaut is already feasting on the people she rules to get back up to strength as she plans to prepare a new cosmic nail?! Hopefully that nail will end up being reused on her brother, as it turns out he isn’t dead either! We a group of now dead explorers found him regenerating on the planet battle beast ripped him apart on. Hey best case scenario the twins will both be stuck in a nail thrown into a sun or something. But that’s not even the craziest part, as the end of the issue reveals that the twins have caught the eyes of the Viltrumite army who now plan on sending conquest to deal with them as they fear their power and believe they could be from something called the mystical Emsiu, which is a complete unknown even to their empire and thus must be stomped out.

Yeah the fight was bloody as hell no surprise and it was awesome! I wish it was longer but there will probably be a round 2 due to both of them being alive and wanting more. Also…. I FORGET THIS TAKES PLACE DURING THE FIRST ISSUES OF INVINCIBLE and that means fucking CONQUEST is gonna show up and possibly fight Battle Beast?!?!!?!? Holy fucking shit how does that even end since they’re both clearly alive in later issues. OH MAN!!!
This action packed issue of Battle Beast left more questions than answers. The artwork was on point but the storyline was a bit fuzzy. There definitely is more to come in Battle Beast quest for a worthy death.
I have to say that I'm pretty tired of this arc, was hoping it would've ended with this issue. But hopefully the next issue will move pass it, since it seems the viltrumite are about to get involved. Overall an okay issue.
