This insightful, informative, and clever survey of Christian life is modeled on C.S. Lewis's The Screwtape Letters. Laymon's book presents the life of faith with all its ups and downs, joys and temptations. The devilish Anasthesia communicates with tempter-in-training, Termite, via e-mail. We meet their "victim" as a young woman and witness her struggles with faith throughout the stages of her life.
Super duper quick read, especially if you've already read The Screwtape Letters and "get" the format. Although not as eloquent as CS Lewis (how many people really are?) it really makes you think about your every day life and temptations. Definitely a worthwhile read. I probably should have taken notes, too.
I preferred The Screwtape Letters, but I did like the ending of this book better! I was a twist that I had wondered about with TSL, so it was enjoyable to know the author had similar feelings. I would give the book 3.5 stars, actually, but alas, goodreads doesn't allow for that.
