Contemporary Organizational Behavior: From Ideas to Action

Rate this book
Applying Organizational Behavior Contemporary Organizational From Ideas to Action is an unconventional text that approaches Organizational Behavior in conceptual, contextual, and experiential ways. Using real world examples and expert advice, the First Edition engages students, rather than merely introducing vocabulary and terms. A combination of Topic Summaries, Case Studies, and Experiential Exercises introduce OB concepts to students while challenging them to understand them in applied situations.

The worst textbook I have ever had to read. Should never be used as the core material to teach Organizational Behavior. The entire first section, which is supposed to cover all of the concepts and vocabulary, is stunted and abbreviated. Many concepts are covered in one or two sentences and descriptions and definitions often wind back onto themselves. For example, the term Machiavellianism is described as " The Mach IV scale measures the degree of Machiavellianism..."

There are case studies that have some merit, but then they were not written by the authors, which may explain why they are the best part of the book.

The final exercises that are meant to help students apply concepts would be great if the concepts were defined in the first place, but it all falls apart due to lack of depth and knowledge. I learned more from Wikipedia than I did from the text book.
