The AWS docs themselves are better edited and more informative than this book. It is not an exaggeration to say your time would better spent simply trying AWS first-hand rather than spending time with this book.

The book often walks through screenshots of dialogs, including uninformative SDK installations, and simply states what the dialogs already say. The book is (entirely?) devoid of actual teaching and simply lists when to click through dialogs and fill out forms without ever explaining why you're using the values you're using, when you wouldn't want to use such values, or what the generalized purpose of what you're doing is.

Here's an example from the book's last chapter on deploying to Beanstalk: "A few more windows will pop up, in which we don't do anything, except clicking on the Next button. If the AWS plugin is properly configured, then this application will be deployed on AWS Elastic Beanstalk." What information does this provide that simply trying it yourself wouldn't have provided? This characterizes much of the feel of book's content.

The editing is also quite poor. An example from chapter 5: "One of the characteristics that I was concerned about to derive work at AWS was my intellect that the cloud can be a pleasant and logical residence where we can figure out security solutions; now, two of my beloved notions, positioning security in the cloud and quickening the espousal of multifactor authentication." That's not a sentence and certainly doesn't make any sense.

This book will have me second-guessing making any future purchases from Packt Publishing.

This book reads so poorly that it seems that it was run through Google Translate from the author's native language without editing by a native English speaker. Don't waste your time.
