Inspector Peach #5

The Lancashire Leopard

Rate this book
On the bitterly cold morning of January 6, a frozen body is found in the Lancashire town of Brunton.

It seems 19-year-old Hannah Woodgate is the latest victim of the serial killer the media have dubbed “the Lancashire Leopard”.

Detective Inspector Percy Peach is determined to find the Leopard before he kills again.

But with no motive, no fingerprints and no clues, that is proving to be a very hard task indeed.

How does the Leopard choose his victims?

And, with a 60-strong task-force going through a painstaking process of eliminating suspects trying to track him down, how is he keeping one step ahead of the police at every turn?

When the next woman’s body is found, the police are as baffled as ever.

Whom should they suspect?

Handsome loner Clyde Northcott, who was found with drugs after a bust-up at a party?

Neo-Nazi thug Paul Dutton, who has shown he can certainly be violent?

What about Terry Plant, recently released from prison, and on the hunt for his ex-wife?

Or Michael Devaney, who certainly has reason to hold a grudge against women?

With no shortage of suspects, or victims, DI Peach faces fatal pressure to find the ‘Lancashire Leopard’ before he makes his next kill.

‘The Lancashire Leopard’ is a chilling, expertly-plotted mystery story. It is perfect for fans of Ian Rankin and Peter Robinson.

Very Good. The blurb on the jacket says that Inspector Peach is like Morse but I think he is far more like Frost. He has a healthy disrespect for his superiors and makes tongue in cheek remarks which his pompous superior officer is never sure how to talk. The story was very well written and kept you guessing until the last few pages.

Outstanding

I have read plenty of thrillers but this one is simply outstanding and absolutely brilliant. It keeps you guessing until the very end and there is plenty of unexpected twists and turns. You won't be able to take off your eyes from this book even for a moment. It's an edge of the seat thriller.

The story begins with 19-year-old Hannah Woodgate going to King George’s Hall for a dance. She gets killed on her way home in Brunton( England). Her body is discovered in a van parked opposite to her house. The killer has left no clue behind to incriminate him. The CID team led by Detective Inspector Percy Peach is absolutely baffled because of lack of any kind of prints, fingerprint or footprint ( because its snowing and many people already disturbed the crime scene.) This is the third body they have discovered and fear that it's the handiwork of a serial killer ' Lancashire Leopard.' Beware, a woman predator is on the prowl.

The first two women, a twenty-six-year-old married primary-school teacher,Judith Anderson, in Preston had been killed on her way home after visiting her ailing mother and a forty-one-year-old woman, Vicky Draper were killed in the same way with no clues and any sign of DNA. The lack of DNA or any sign of sexual assault on all the victims makes it impossible to apprehend the killer. Another lady, Sally Cartwright, dies on her way home. There is a bold serial killer on the loose.Who is the prime suspect? Why is he targeting women? Will DI Percy Peach and his team crack the case before another lady is taken and arrest the extremely dangerous serial killer? I highly recommend this book for all the mystery lovers. Wow! I couldn't even imagine such a fantastic climax.

The body of Hannah Woodgate is discovered in the Lancashire town of Brunton. It woud seem that she is the latest victim of the serial killer called “the Lancashire Leopard” by the media.
Detective Inspector Percy Peach and his team continue to investigate, but are without any motives or clues.

Another exciting Inspector Peach book

The Lancashire Leopard is another exciting, well written Inspector Peach story. Gregson further develops the relationship between Lucy and Percy while they work to solve the latest murders. An entertaining read.
