Good overview of WELS doctrinal standing in comparison to other Lutheran church bodies. A nice summary of Lutheran synods, church bodies, ministeriums, and organizations primarily in North America in detail, but includes the rest of the world to varying degrees of detail. As one might suspect the older this print gets the more dated some of the recent info will become - the nature of this type of book. No fault of the authors.
Really good and thorough on the differences between synods and why some are or aren't in fellowship. It's so frustrating to learn though how sometimes it the tiniest thing that breaks groups apart or breaks fellowship. Honestly it kinda made me mad at Lutherans at times.
Nice book to understand how much it would suck to be in WELS if you were a woman. WELS treats their women almost like second class. Men are always first class. That's why WELS is smallest. LCMS is strict and WELS is harshly strict. ELCA is more liberal, but also least strict in a pentecostal way (no dress code, no restrictions except for communion every week). Only cults make women uneasy when The Bible is clearly a man-written book written by several men translated and based of the Greek scriptures. ELCA synod is farthest from a cult and most modern.
