This is an excellent fitness book in which it is apparent that the author writes from his accumulated knowledge of the martial arts, the military and formal training with years of experience. His exercises are based on various outdoor pursuits that may or may not require survival training. The book focuses on 6 nonviolent fitness activities, which are climbing, hiking, parkour, riding, running and swimming. These are activities that require no equipment and can be considered minimalist workouts, in accord with the author's minimalist philosophy and his own minimalist travels off the beaten path which require stellar fitness. Sam Fury makes the book more interesting by providing real world scenarios and information on how to get out of sticky situations through fitness. Hence, motivating the reader to try the exercises and become more fit. Survival Fitness offers solid fitness training for someone who likes to pursue travels and explore off the beaten path.
