Textile artist Sadie Fox did not sign up for this. When she agreed to come home, it was to care for her father's beloved pumpkin patch. The deal was that just for the summer, she would grow a ginormous pumpkin, win the Indiana State Fair's pumpkin competition and finally win back her father's (grudging) respect.
Instead, a horde of wild hogs destroyed the entire patch. Which is precisely when the annoyingly sexy, sunshiny next-door neighbour shows up.
Josh Thatcher is a tech millionaire who traded in the office for growing vegetables. And for the life of her, Sadie can't understand what he sees in her sweary, tattooed, prickly self. But a storm-fuelled kiss proves there's definitely something growing between them. And whatever it is, it's already bigger than Sadie's fast-growing pumpkin…or the secret that Josh has been hiding.
Isabelle Popp's first attempt at writing a romance novel came in middle school, when she began a story about a weirdo girl who could photosynthesize. That project was abandoned, but she has plenty of other silly ideas in the hopper. When she isn't reading or writing, she's probably knitting, solving crossword puzzles, or scouring used book stores for vintage Gothic romance paperbacks. Originally from New York, she's as surprised as anyone that she lives in Indiana. Let's Give 'Em Pumpkin to Talk About is her first novel.
Special thank you to Harlequin Audio for the early listening access in exchange for my honest review!
At first, I was drawn to this book purely for the cozy fall vibes the cover promised, but I was quickly surprised—in the best way—to discover a spicy, trope-filled romance. This story really does have it all: a fluffy (and possibly plus-size) main character, small-town charm, friends-to-lovers tension, grumpy-and-sunshine attraction, sexy farmers, kink, and affirming LGBTQ+ representation throughout.
Isabelle Popp doesn’t hold back on the heat. The steamy scenes are not only well-written, but also empowering—especially for plus-size readers who rarely get to see themselves celebrated as sexy, confident, and even dominant in the bedroom. The relationship’s slow build kept the tension high, and the added layers of family drama and misunderstandings made both characters incredibly easy to root for.
Without giving away spoilers, I’ll just say this: if you’re looking for a spicy, sexy, and affirming romance to set the tone for fall, Let’s Give ’Em Pumpkin to Talk About is an absolute must-read (or listen)!
This is a lovely Autumnal cozy read. I liked the mmc and the FMC and their connection was believable. I struggled sometimes with the pacing but on the whole it was just a really lovely book.
An opposites attract, grumpy and sunshine romance, the story of Sadie and Josh. She is in town to look after her dad's pumpkin patch and win the prize, but everything starts to go wrong. Josh is there to help but will she give him a chance?
