Annette Michelson was Professor Emeritus in the Department of Cinema Studies at New York University. A founding editor of the journal October, she wrote on art and cinema for more than five decades.

Catalog for an exhibit on cinematography as photography with frame blow-ups from the films. But the frames are not reproduced large enough to really be able to see. A few essays of variable readability, some addressing the topic at hand, others giving a general history of film.
