For fans of dark fantasy, morally grey heroes, slow-burn tension, and high-stakes intrigue.
Earthquakes ravage Eldion, leaving famine and rumors of undying monsters. The Cult of Redeemers welcomes the disasters and heralds the end of days. In the city of Belrou, Demiana Emberhart is doing everything she can to escape her noble obligations. Born without the magic that defines her bloodline, she is determined to forge her own path—and it leads to the Golden Order.
Richard is a Malorian—and worse, a Faithful—marked by a sinister god. Sent on a mission that could alter the fate of his dying race, he stumbles upon a puzzle he can't solve. When answers elude him, he convinces Exar—a rival Faithful and, unfortunately, his partner—to detour in the nearest city.
Gideon Tormund, a former mercenary of noble blood, wants to repay his debts and stay out of politics. But a life-changing offer forces him to reconsider—one that ties him to the very institution he despises. To secure the prestigious role of Combat Instructor at the Order's Academy, he must agree to an arranged marriage.
The escape of a Redeemer from prison sets Demiana in motion: she must catch him, since it's her only chance to prove the disasters are man-made. As the odds of success shrink by the hour, she forges an alliance with two strangers—mysterious traveling researchers desperate to find a very specific temple. When their journey leads into forbidden ruins, ancient forces awaken—hidden and forgotten, but deadly and inevitable nonetheless.
A Malorian will entice her, drawing her toward a path of ruin.
An instructor will protect her—even if it means pushing her beyond her limits.
The Golden Order will test her. But passing their trials may not be enough to survive.
When truth becomes poison and loyalty demands blood, Demiana must choose: uphold her humanity and fail… or cross the line and embrace the unknown.
I honestly loved this book. The story was intriguing, dark, and felt very original. The style of her writing was right up my alley and it was easy to read through.
You get to follow multiple perspectives throughout the story; one in which is Damiana, a 19 year old girl who's brought up in a very successful family, although she doesn't have magic like her mother and her sister, she still gets by without it in her own way. She's clever, smart, and too ambitious for her own good.
The story has some dark and gory moments, but it fits very well to the world she has created, which is very treacherous and contains a lot of dangerous beings, and unless you have some some powerful friends by your side you might not make it. But sometimes even that isn't enough.
If you like fantasy, multiple angles, dark romance, gore.. this book is for you. For me it's a five star. I really enjoyed it.
Well, ok, WOW. First, I’m just not sure how I’m not hearing more about this book. Please, allow me to push it on the algorithm. The writing style, character development, plot, plot twists, world-building, magic system..all of it kept me engaged and invested and it’s honestly not like anything I’ve read. I’m trying to think of something I can compare it to just for interests sake but I really can’t. I’d best describe it as a dark gothic fantasy romance, with dark academia as well in the second half of the book.
This story is told in a limited, third person with multiple POV. 1 FMC (with an inner voice- I can’t elaborate further) and 2 MMC (each from an opposing side of people). Of the three, I think our FMC, Demiana, is my favorite- she’s soft yet brave, resilient and determined. She’s a character you genuinely want to root for and, if you’ve ever had to claw yourself out of a hole (literally & figuratively) with the odds against you, parts of her will resonate within you. She’s made a little home in my heart.
Of the two MMCs, idk I mean we could have a why choose if they didn’t absolutely despise each other? But both are fierce and very territorial over Demiana (loveee that for us😋).
Her fate was to be the leader of her people after she was born without magic and unable to attend the academy to strengthen her powers (with that came a life of being hidden away, shame, etc 💔). But after a tragic event she’s able to go down the path she’s always wanted and it’s a RIDE. There’s tension, yearning, forbidden attraction, forgotten memories, touch her & 💀, and the limited third person made the plot twists TWISTY. It’s messy and I loved it so so much. There are MANY times I laughed out loud, as well as was brought to tears. I cannot wait to continue their journey in book 2!
Eldion: The Law of Acceptance by Margarita Bergamo completely pulled me into its dark and immersive world from the very first chapter.
Set in a kingdom plagued by devastating earthquakes, famine, and whispers of immortal monsters, this story blends mystery, political intrigue, and fantasy into an unforgettable adventure. Demiana is a strong and determined heroine whose journey kept me invested every step of the way as she searched for answers in a world filled with secrets and danger.
One of my favorite aspects of this book was the character dynamics. The slow-burn romance was wonderfully paced, and the love triangle added an extra layer of tension that had me constantly questioning who I was rooting for. The morally grey characters made every interaction feel unpredictable, and I loved uncovering their motives as the story progressed.
The world-building was rich and atmospheric, creating a setting that felt both beautiful and threatening. Between the ancient mysteries, political schemes, and looming sense of catastrophe, there was never a dull moment.

A captivating start to a fantasy series that leaves you eager for more and wondering what secrets Eldion still has left to reveal.
Thank you, Margarita Bergamo, for the opportunity to read and review this incredible story! 💜💜
This high fantasy has a unique plot with brutal danger and an ongoing battle between light and dark. The twists will keep you guessing along the way as the risks elevate in Eldion.
Demiana is our strong FMC who’s been suppressed by family obligation, who can’t help but want more from life; knowledge, adventure, and a sense of purpose. “With magic or without, she’s still an Emberhart.” “You, Demiana, have a different path set before you.”
Gideon is our golden savior, who will do anything to protect his betrothed.
Richard is our mysterious stranger who doesn’t understand his draw to a powerless human.
-World building -Marriage of convenience -Combat training -Dangerous trials -Love triangle
If you’re looking for something unlike any other fantasy with complex characters: this is it.
The best dark high fantasy I’ve ever read. I have fallen in love with the world Margarita Bergamo has created and I don’t ever want to leave. There’s an academy, a malorian, an instructor, realms fighting to reign supreme, unkillable creatures, and a girl who has the power to change everything. The stakes are high and the plot is addicting. From page one, Margarita had gained my attention. I truly had a great time reading this, there were moments that had me blushing and moments that had me sitting at the edge of my seat. Eldion The Law of Acceptance offers it all.
I initially started reading Eldion: The Law of Acceptance mostly out of professional curiosity, seeking a deeper understanding of the book from a fantasy book marketer’s perspective. But it didn’t take long before I realized I had stopped analyzing the story and simply wanted to know what would happen next.
For me, the heart of this story is Demiana.
She doesn’t come across as a perfect FMC who always knows the right thing to do. She’s stubborn, ambitious, sometimes too impulsive, and at other times touchingly inexperienced. She makes mistakes, faces tough choices, pays the price for them, and gradually grows throughout the story. That’s exactly what makes her believable — and what makes you care about her. She’s the reason you’ll be eager to keep turning pages.
What also struck me was the way the romance never felt like an isolated element within the novel. It becomes part of the larger story, heightens the tension, and pushes the characters toward hard decisions without ever overshadowing the main plot. There is undeniable chemistry between the characters, but the focus remains on Demiana’s journey and her attempt to find her place in a world that seems determined to stand against her from the very beginning.
While reading, I thought several times that Demiana carries some of the energy as the heroines in Hayao Miyazaki’s films. Not in appearance or in any literal sense, but in spirit. She’s not all-powerful or flawless, and she never tries to appear stronger or more impressive than she really is. Her strength lies in her stubbornness, curiosity, and her willingness to keep moving forward even when she’s afraid and her life is at stake.
I also enjoyed that the book doesn’t seem designed simply to follow every popular trend or trope. Despite its adult rating and romantic elements, this isn’t a story that exists solely for the relationships between its characters. First and foremost, it’s a fantasy novel about growing up, trust, moral choices, and the consequences of one’s decisions.
When I reached the last page, I realized I wasn’t only curious about how the larger conflict would unfold — I simply wanted to spend more time with these characters. And for me, that was the clearest sign that the book had truly worked. I will be eagerly awaiting the sequel.
The book takes you straight into a world torn by earthquakes, famine, and rumors of monsters, with so much happening in the city of Belrou and beyond.
I really liked following Demiana, she’s such a strong and determined character, trying to step out of her noble family’s shadow and prove herself in the Golden Order. The mix of characters around her, like Richard and Exar with their uneasy alliance, or Gideon trying to balance honor with survival, makes the story feel layered and full of tension.
YA fantasy isn’t usually my first choice, but I can see how readers who love magic, coming-of-age journeys, and big adventures are going to enjoy this one a lot. Mostly, I’m just so impressed by the imagination and heart that went into this book. Writing a novel is no small feat, and I’m so excited to see what comes next from this author!
This book takes a wild turn early on that made my head spin and caused me to feel grave concern for its heroine, Demiana Emberhart. I'm not even sure she is the heroine, but I like her, I think... I just really don't want her to die. Every time I leaned into a character, they betrayed me, and kept me turning pages hoping that soon everything was going to be okay. As it turns out, "happily ever after" is not really a thing in Eldion. It is an unforgiving world of perpetual conflict, but the Harvest Festival seems really pretty and fun!
