"They say a giant eyeball fell from the sky and landed on their shed. Luckily no one was hurt and they built a new shed"

Some X File vibes as civil servants from the Divine Incursions Special Investigations Division Katagishi and Miyaki look into unusual happenings.

I like the low level humor between the Investigators...

That was really fun and I'm upset that the ending is such a cliff hanger

None of the three stories conclude satisfyingly. Won’t be reading more.

Excuse me you cannot just end it like that! Rude!
But this one was a good one. About a duo investigating divine incursions, stuff to do with gods. They travel through Japan in the search of cases and may or may not solve them. From body parts from a god to wishes gone wrong to a mermaid story. They were all very interesting and spooky. I also love the interactions between the two investigators who couldn't be more opposites, haha. The art was also fabulous, really fitting the story/the spooky things.

I need more! I also want this one to be an anime!

I am LOVING this series. It reminds me of Mushishi meets X-Files. It's like a modern day Mushishi but with two people instead of one. I think it's kinda cool that they don't really 'solve' the mysteries, or that they don't destroy the gods living in these places. They just come, figure out what's wrong, tell the people how to fix it, then bail. Totally like Mushishi. It's not anywhere as good as Mushishi, obv, but is this a good way to deal with that itch?! You betcha!

found this unexpectedly at the store and am glad I picked it up - it's a great start to the series, with two compelling supernatural investigators following up on three different leads. the stories are the right amount of creepy and intriguing. I also am enjoying this art style a lot! definitely want to see where this mermaid one is going....

A very x-files type story based on the strange supernatural effects of gods and spirits. This story is beautifully drawn and engaging.

Going into this manga with no knowledge apart from the short blurb, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! In this first volume of Divine Incursions we follow two investigators visiting a rural town in order to find out more about the strange occurence of giant body parts falling from the sky - that's all I'm going to say as far as the plot goes.

Being the first volume, this felt both like an introduction to the world and being thrown into the deep end of the story at the same time. I think it worked though, makes you feel like you know some details already while trying to uncover the why. The coworker chemistry and banter between the two investigators provided nice contrast to the unresolved mystery. I will definitely be looking into reading more volumes as they get published, as well as reading the light novel.

THAT ENDING THOUGH! I really, really, really need the next volume already.

Thank you to Edelweiss, Kouya Ashitaka and Oumi Kifuru for providing this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Read more graphic novel reviews at The Graphic Library.

Katagishi and Miyaki, two detectives from a special unit, travel the countryside looking for paranormal activity that have disrupted the way of life in odd or mysterious ways. In one town, they found ginormous body parts falling from the sky, potentially pieces of a guardian deity that was disturbed. While there are humorous bits throughout, this story also has its moments of body horror and mysticism, making it a bit of a genre-blender and an interesting read.
