A rock climbing guide to the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California. Lavishly illustrated with maps, topos and action photos. A sport climbers paradise with ayear round climate
Louie has been climbing for just about his entire life, enjoying everything from bouldering to big walls, and local rock to foreign destinations. Outdoors, his main passion is developing new routes and the amount of undeveloped local limestone was one of the main reasons behind his recent move to Ten Sleep, Wyoming.
He has been involved in all aspects of the indoor climbing industry since the 1980’s and now makes his living through many pursuits in that world. Aside from the freelance duties he performs, he is also the owner of both Legacy Ascension, and a bouldering gym in southern California called the Factory Bouldering.
As climbing guidebooks go, this one is not that good. Basically the main thing I want in a climbing guidebook is clear, accurate descriptions of the approaches and the routes. This book describes the routes pretty well but has almost no verbal description of the approaches and the maps are not very good. The topos are decent.
