When former Iraqi and Afghanistan war veteran Bill Evers is recruited to track down a mystical artifact that has been stolen from a Mexican museum, he initially refuses. After learning the cartouche is cursed, and that it contains powers that could likely destroy the world if it falls into wrong hands, he feels duty bound to accept the mission.
Dan Dugan, known for his time spent as a contractor for Blackwater and later as a gun runner, will stop at nothing to get his hands on the cartouche, including killing anyone who stands in his way. He desperately wants the cartouche, as it could be worth billions and possibly make him the most powerful man in the world. At the same time, it could lead to the end of the world as we know it.
This high-paced, nonstop, action adventure follows Evers on his mission to seek out the cartouche and attempt to stop Dugan from unleashing hell on Earth. Martial arts action, intrigue, murder, magic, and mayhem await!

"Of Blood and Stone" contains all of my favorite ingredients for a good spy thriller including international intrigue, the supernatural, local color, plenty of fast-paced action, and oodles upon oodles of testosterone. Our hero here is Bill Evers, professional soldier, world-class martial arts and weapons expert as well as a truly, all-round badass who can slit a man's throat just as casually as he can throw back a shot of tequila. In this episode, Bill undertakes a mission to recover an ancient Mayan cartouche which has been lifted from a Mexico City Museum. This sacred cartouche supposedly has secret magical powers which, if unleashed by the madman who seeks it, could destroy the entire world. From the minute Bill springs into action, hang on to your hats because you're in for a wild and exciting ride. Author Howard Upton writes in a clear, easy-to-read narrative style where the words fly off the page and into the reader's imagination. Strong story! Good read! "Of Blood and Stone" is the first book of a series which will be entitled "The Bill Evers Series." A very enjoyable book!!
