Immunobiology: The Immune System

Rate this book
Janeway's Immunobiology, Seventh Edition is an introductory text for use in immunology courses for undergraduates, graduate students and medical students. It guides the reader through the immune system in all its aspects - from the first engagement of innate immunity to the generation of the adaptive immune response and its clinical consequences. The Seventh Edition has been comprehensively updated throughout, and includes new information on topics such as NK cells, Toll-like receptors, AID, viral evasins, mucosal immunity, and celiac disease, to name a few. Each copy of the book includes a revised CD-ROM, Immunobiology Interactive, which contains animations and videos with voiceover narration, as well as the figures from the text for presentation purposes. Janeway's Immunobiology continues to set the standard for currency and authority with its clear writing style and organization, full-color art program, scientific accuracy and consistent viewpoint - that of the host's interaction with an environment containing many species of potentially harmful microorganisms.

It's so incredibly verbose that I want to vomit all over this computer screen as I attempt to summarise this book. It jumps from topic to topic, sometimes lacking coherent correlations. Nonetheless, it's the only Immuno textbook comprehensive enough to use. The diagrams are amazing. In fact, I'm pretty sure I could learn the whole subject by re-drawing the figures and noting their captions

Exhaustive. The most up-to-date and easy-to-navigate immunology book of the decade. Common themes were repeated throughout the book, which was monotonous (hence the 4 stars)- yet how else would one go about organizing & conveying the information required to explain the complexities/intricacies of the immune system? Excellent textbook.

Still my reference for Immuno. Great book, easy to read, well laid out. The figures are very simple and informative. Never thought I'd get to the point in my education, but I am finding more and more that it doesn't have enough detail. It is a great place to start however.

This book is so accessible and just plain interesting. I bought it as a textbook for immunology but read it for pleasure now.
