4 books24 followersAdam Steven Page was born in Sutton, in the UK. He started writing in early 2015 when he penned his debut novel, 'A Victim of the Times'.
Despite being born, raised and still living in the UK, Adam had written this novel in an American style and dialect. Considering the story is set in a fictional American city, (Orchard City) and has an American protagonist and characters, it felt like the right thing to do.
The book is a serial killer thriller from a different perspective, something Adam felt would make it stand out from others in the genre. It follows Jack Phoenix, a man who has grown up in a town rife with crime, and he himself has played a part with his own sordid past. Jack tries to make things right, vowing to correct his ways and live an honest life, using his terminally ill mother as a reason. But while living in a town which is fast becoming the crime capital of the USA, and a serial killer picking off its citizen’s one by one, it is far from an easy task and Jack is pushed to boiling point.
Adam believes that a book is only as strong as its protagonist, and in ‘A Victim of the Times’ he has what he considers to be a well rounded, yet flawed lead character. From the reviews that the book has received, it appears that readers agree.
Adam prefers to write first person narratives for this reason; it allows a character to be explored on every level and allows the reader to experience every thought and situation as they happen.
He has also written a short story spin off entitled, ‘Charlie: An Orchard City Short’ which explores the back story of one of the characters from his debut novel, Charlie.
He plans to write another Jack Phoenix thriller at some point in the future but says that, ‘The timing has to be right; I think it would be foolish to rush a sequel for the sake of writing one. Jack is a strong character and his next outing will have to be something worth waiting for.’
Meanwhile Adam had planned to release a three part short story series following Detective Frank Hunt, the first part of which, ‘A Perfect Hunt’ is available for download . This series also takes place in Orchard City and follows the detective as he wrestles with sobriety, while trying to catch the Lothario Killer. However due to various reasons, it is not known when the next instalment, ‘The Hunt Continues’ is set to be released.
