Whether it is for augmentation, liposuction, or a lift, women often go into plastic surgery without being aware of all the aspects. This book, written by a female plastic surgeon, gives an objective, knowledgeable overview of the different procedures and includes topics such as decision making, smart questions to ask, expectations, possible complications, and recovery.
I think the good doc did a pretty decent job here, she clearly outlines the procedures, contraindications, and risks. However, she states there are minimal risks with Botox, and I believe states no deaths have occured from it's use. WRONG! Botox is short for Botulinum toxin, which is a known neurotoxin. For those of you not hip to the science lingo, Neuro = brain/nervous system. Toxin = POISON. It can and has caused respiratory failure as it paralyzes muscles, muscles that are required to say, breathe. But hey, at least you'll look wrinkle free in your coffin!!
a brief side note, Botox is also used medically and I have no beef with that.
Dr. Loftus is my plastic surgeon. She is proficient and knowledgeable, as evidenced by the thorough treatment of various cosmetic procedures in her book. The book is lacking in a couple of ways, however. For instance, breast augmentation and breast lift are discussed but breast reduction is not. The text could also use a few more pictures of Dr. Loftus' work. Overall, though, treatment of cosmetic surgery is fairly comprehensive, providing detailed instructive information the reader can trust. A little supplemental info here and there would perfect an otherwise sound book.
