Sutures and Secrets

Rate this book
In the sterile halls of an emergency animal hospital, sparks fly between Alex, a sharp-witted vet tech with a guarded heart, and Chloe, a brilliant but enigmatic veterinarian with a mysterious past. What begins as stolen glances and slow-burning tension quickly turns into something deeper—something neither of them expected.

As romance ignites and danger closes in, Alex and Chloe must confront a shared history filled with lies, trauma, and a killer hiding in plain sight. Because sometimes, the past doesn’t stay buried—and love might be the only thing that can survive what they uncover.

"Simmering with tension and tenderness, Sutures and Secrets is a gripping romance that stitches together emotional depth, slow-burn chemistry, and a suspenseful mystery that will keep readers hooked until the final reveal." – NewInBooks.com

I chose to read this as I dont find many books that are set in the veterinary world so intrigued me (being in the field myself).
While I do enjoy the back and fourth between character in a part of it there was a repeat of situations but from each perspective- this can be great if done correctly but found it really didn't add too much new information to the reader so kinda fell flat. Luckily this was only in a small area so it did not bother me too much and ended up picking right back up in suspense. I wasnt expecting the mental health stuff- talk about a surprise I did not see coming. This book did make me tear up and feel for the characters- have tissues ready for the end. I have so many more questions that I would like answered so I hope there will be a second book sometime.
I went in expecting a little love story and recieved a thriller that hit hard in the feels. Overall well done 👏

That was a depressing book. The furthest thing from a happy ending.

I thought this was going to be a cute little lesbian love story with a side of mystery. Boy was I wrong.

The writing isn't bad, but the book needs an editor. There could have been so much more story, more detail, in the beginning.

Wow

Went in blind just knowing it had vet world related content and a love story. Ended up being some sort of a thriller and a cliffhanger ending that I need to know there’s another book coming to close the loop on the characters past. The only thing stoping for a full 4* is the POV from the characters of the same situation are at time redundant and doesn’t offer new information toward the story. Also some sort of trigger warning about mental health would have been appropriate as there’s lots of heavy emotions and mention of overdose.

Just wow! I picked this book up because it was veterinary medicine related and it ended up being one of the best twist endings I’ve ever read. I laughed, I cried, I related… it made me feel things I haven’t wanted to think about it a long time. This was a great read. Couple grammar errors and some repetitive descriptions/section, but overall a great story for an independent publication.
