Born and raised in Rochester, New York, I had an early itch for writing. I published a one page news flyer for a few kids in the neighborhood, even though I didn’t read a lot. I was more of an active athletic youngster, preferring the baseball bat to the book. I attended undergraduate school at Indiana University. While attending Purdue University I earned a Ph.D. I am now retired from a state government position where I worked for almost 30 years as a professional staff member or in management. Even today I read very few fiction books, but I do read and write daily about my many learning activities. I enjoy books that involve me from the very beginning. While writing Death Code, I worked hard to immerse my readers in my plot and characters. I decided to write under the pseudonym Kurt Lawrence; I always liked the sound of that name. This effort is not about accolades for me—that’s not to say, I haven’t been rewarded. Writing has brought about a sense of accomplishment like none I have experienced— I found it exciting to research medicine in order to give realism to my characters and plot; developing a plot from nothing and building a character to match a developing story—a story which has no ending at the beginning. Imagine writing a story without knowing where you are going! I hope you enjoy Death Code.
This book felt like a bit of a whirlwind. So much happened to these poor characters!
I enjoyed the new approach to the female scientist character. Most doctor/scientists are portrayed as a little nerdy and uppity. But Annestine is attractive and is aware of her effect on men. It makes for quite the interesting thriller plot.
A common theme was Jerrie’s poor taste in men and she seems to have quite a bit of trouble there. I felt really badly for her throughout the work and didn’t feel like I had enough resolution for her at the conclusion of the book. So I hope there is a sequel so I can see her get a little closure and happiness!
