Biological Weapons: Issues And Threats

Rate this book
The Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on their Destruction (BTWC) has no provisions for verification similar for those of the Chemical Weapons Convention. Recently state parties to the convention have been negotiating a Verification Protocol for the BTWC, but significant challenges remain, including the need to weigh the requirements of international security against national sovereignty and the need for transparency to be weighed against secrecy for commercial reasons (both issues that have been raised by the United States. Chari (director, Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, India) and Rajain (research fellow, Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies) present seven chapters that address these and other issues, largely from the perspective of India. The publication I had was very old (2002). Yet, I have learnt so much from this book. I'm even afraid to quote all facts, for the fear of being recognized as a terrorist.

The USA as the biggest creator and user of biological weapons refused to sign any international pacts to control development in this area. Creating biological weapons requires very high level of technology. The virus or other microbe has to be delivered in the form of aerosol, and the best way to do so is by a rocket (from the recent Israel developments in Gaza we know that US can be protected from rockets).

Quite interesting trifle is that plague in Europe was started by catapulting infected dead bodies to the Italian/French and other cities.

Aha, I'll tell you this secret. Anthrax attacks in US were not of terrorist making. Just one disgruntled employee of Defense Ministry, who probably didn't like very much what his country does in secret, decided to use it against politicians. I am not against America or Americans, but I can't help but say "oh, how typically American."
