The church in America is part of a changing culture, and today's preachers must be prepared to engage the unique issues of our postmodern age.
Editor Scott M. Gibson has skillfully combined the works of many well-known preachers, including Haddon Robinson and Bryan Chapell, into one practical guide written for present and future church leaders. Including questions for reflection and suggestions for further reading, this helpful resource addresses important topics such as preaching to a postmodern audience, pluralism, and the intersection of preaching and psychology.

"A stimulating potpourri of evangelical insights for changing times."--Michael Quicke, Charles Koller Professor of Preaching and Communications, Northern Baptist Theological Seminary
"Timely and relevant, this collection of essays thoughtfully explores the issues facing today's preacher and calls today's preacher to thoughtfully face the issues."--Patricia Batten, pastor, Village Baptist Church, Kennebunkport, Maine
"Those who are called to proclaim the Word in a contemporary setting will benefit from the analysis and suggestions offered in this outstanding collection."--Michael Duduit, editor, Preaching magazine
Helpful but not terribly enlightening. You have to sift through a lot of jargon to find anything truly helpful. If you're willing to mine for the occasional diamond in the rough this book is worth your time.
Great advice from many different preachers on how to connect with this world that is continually shifting. The first couple of chapters are ok, but it gets better as you continue on. I am not a huge fan of books on preaching, even though I love to preach, but this was a wonderful little read. I was glad I took it with me on my short vacation. It was surprisingly put together well, compared to most books that have a different person write each chapter.
If you have a desire to stay relevant in your preaching in this post-modern culture this book is worth a read from you. The way we deliver the message may change, but the message never will.
Some good thought on the challenges to preaching. Sometimes I wished the contributors would have gone a little deeper. Some of the chapters where very practical.
A collection of essays which usually delivers some amazing material next to some lame material. This compilation does have some really good stuff in there (about 4 really impressed me), but none of it is lame: just a little middle-of-the-road.
Enjoyed several of the essays especially the one about Christ-centered preaching and the one about the post-modern mind. Lots of clarity on what I see on campus and need to able to do to address what I see happening. Good, solid, scholarly discussion on reaching the current young generation.
