In Understanding Prophecy in the A 30-Day Guide, bestselling author and pastor Dr. David Jeremiah helps readers discover prophecies throughout the pages of Scripture (both in the Old and New Testaments), understand the context in which they were written and the prophets who wrote them, and see ways that those prophecies apply to their lives today—especially in regard to God's promises for them. Each day over the course of the thirty days, participants will learn about a specific prophecy from Dr. Jeremiah, explore the prophecy in Scripture on their own, complete a few study and reflection questions to help them cement their understanding, and then receive a closing thought from Dr. Jeremiah.

About the author
David Jeremiah
820 books893 followersDr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.
As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.
In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.
Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.
Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.
As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.
Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.
Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.
Dr. Jeremiah is a sought-after conference speaker for organizations around the country. He frequently speaks at Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, Billy Graham Training Center, Phil Waldrep’s Senior Adult Celebrations and numerous NFL, NBA and Baseball chapels.
Along with his speaking schedule around the country, Dr. Jeremiah also finds time to fulfill another passion in his life, writing. His books are always gripping and right to the point. This book is a must for those seeking to understand and apply the truths found in biblical prophecy, which is often not fully understood by many believers. While the Bible is filled with prophecies from cover to cover to cover, in this book Dr. David Jeremiah has selected 30 prophecies to examine more closely including ten from the Old Testament, ten from the New Testament and ten from the book of Revelation.
I found this 30-day study particularly helpful in enhancing my understanding of the various prophecies discussed. Each chapter offers a closer look at God’s promises beginning with scripture and its context. There are questions for reflection and application followed by additional information and supporting verses for readers looking ahead to the future.
Dr. David Jeremiah is one of my favorite authors, speakers and preachers. He does a great job breaking down difficult verses and concepts in a simple and easy to read manner for readers. This book is a great example of this and one I’ll want to refer back to during my future studies.

I really enjoyed this book. Dr. David Jeremiah has a knack for teaching where it’s heavy enough for seasoned believers and still simple enough for brand new believers. This book is no different.
The author walks through major prophetic topics like the rapture, the tribulation, and the return of Christ. He does this by connecting books like Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelation in an easy to follow layout. One example would be the 70 weeks spoken about in Daniel. He explains it with clarity to the text and not just speculation. Another example is Revelation. Dr. Jeremiah focuses less on fear and more on the hope the scripture provides with God as the ultimate victor. It’s a good book for understanding biblical prophecy without getting lost in sensationalism.

This is a terrific study of biblical prophecy. 10 are from the Old Testament, 10 are from the New Testament, and 10 are from the Book of Revelation. They are done in a very simple and easy way to understand. A lot of times, explaining prophesy gets very technical and overwhelming and begins losing readers in the process. The whole purpose is to make it easier for people to understand, and Jeremiah does this well. It also is set up very well for a Bible study. There are questions that could be used for a study group very easily. There is also a section of each study called “apply” which I really liked. What can we learn from this beyond just understanding what it says? How can this help us today? That part was done wonderfully. This is a 5 star book for me.

Understanding Biblical Prophecy: A 30-Day Bible Study by Dr. David Jeremiah is a wonderful teaching guide for anyone who is seeking to gain a greater understanding of biblical prophecy. Dr. Jeremiah writes in such a way that the new believer and the seasoned believer can both glean a better understanding of the prophecies of the Bible. He has chosen 30 prophecies from the many and has divided them into ten from the Old Testament, ten from the New Testament and ten from the book of Revelation. I found the book to be easy to read and understand and I gained some new insight into some of the prophecies that I hadn’t had before. There are wonderful reflection and application sections after each chapter as well. I would highly recommend this book. I’m grateful to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

Understanding Biblical Prophecy is a 30-Day Bible Study by Dr. David Jeremiah which highlights some important prophecies in the Bible and how they have been or will be fulfilled. After reading The Promise of Heaven, I have been interested in the works of this author. He is a great teacher of the Bible. I love how he teaches in simple words with relevant Biblical references. The reflection and application sections of each chapter were quite insightful. Recommended to every Christian.
