Finding Home in Comfort

Rate this book
Hank’s world is all routines and exotic animals—until a city boy shows up with too many ideas and zero goat sense.Hank
My life is quiet, steady, and exactly how I like it. I run an exotic animal ranch on the edge of Comfort, Texas, mind my own business, and keep my heart tucked away where it can’t cause trouble. I’ve never wanted to take care of anyone—and I’ve been fine with that. Relationships can wait. Maybe forever. Then Jasper Greer shows up in a too-loud car with too-bright energy and a head full of plans. He’s a walking complication… and I can’t seem to stop thinking about him.

Jasper
I came to Comfort to turn my third cousin twice-removed’s house into a queer-friendly B&B and prove I can follow through on something that actually matters. I’ve always been about the good time, but Hank? The second I meet him, I know. He’s my Daddy—even if he doesn’t see it yet. And just because I’m a boy doesn’t mean I’m any good at letting someone take care of me. But with Hank? I want to try.

A low-angst Daddy/boy MM romance set on a Texas ranch with small-town charm, found family, and a boy who knows exactly who his Daddy is.

Finding Home in Comfort by Kerry Kilpatrick is part of the Saddle Up series by various authors. It is a Daddy/Little story of a man who wants to prove to his family that he isn’t flighty or incompetent by opening a B & B in Comfort, Texas, and the grumpy neighbor who becomes his Daddy and sees the amazing person he is. Jasper Greer, a Little, has come to Comfort when Sissy, a relative he was texting with, passed away and left him her home, which she was in the process of fixing up. Jasper had gone through a series of jobs that never worked out in Almstead Island, California, and the last one was really bad because his ex and Daddy had stolen from him. His father and two of his brothers were doctors and his other brother worked in finance and all were very prosperous. Unfortunately, they looked at Jasper as flighty and a screw up and he wanted to prove to them that he could see this project through and do well. On his way to the house, he stopped and picked up 4 goats who he called Dolly, Tammy, Loretta, and Reba, and he loved them and treated them like the ladies he thought they were. They also had a bad habit of getting out of their fenced yard and he found them in his neighbor’s pasture. That’s where he met Hank Vogel who ran an exotic animal ranch by taking in animals that couldn’t be housed in labs or zoos. He’d been so busy building it up he never had time for relationships. His parents had the ranch first but they never wanted it and as soon as they could, they left it to Hank. He had spent the last 10 years building it up so it was rooted in conservation and stewardship. He also considered Bert and Faust who lived in Comfort to be his adopted parents as they helped him realize who he was when he was in high school. He was grumpy when he first met Jasper but soon found his joy and happiness adorable, although it took a while. Jasper asked him to help fix his fence and then invited him to dinner. Hank didn’t like to cook so was happy for the great dinner and also saw the house and Jasper’s little corner. Jasper called him Daddy and Hank didn’t mind, in fact, he started researching Daddies and Littles. Jasper wanted to put getting the B & B up and running as his first priority but he was very attracted to Hank and Hank had never been affected by anyone as much as Jasper so they continued to see each other and this led to a kiss. Jasper was being productive and making good progress and went to the hardware store and feed store in town where he ran into Hank. Something happened that found Jasper deep in his Little space and Hank saw that he needed a Daddy and that was going to be him but then he ghosted him for a week. When he realized what he had done he went to Jasper’s house and found that he had an allergic reaction to Texas pollen he stayed with him and helped out. He apologized and makes some rules. They end up doing many things together such as going to a town business people’s potluck, taking him through his ranch to meet the animals, meeting Bert and Faust, and going to Houston for a rodeo, carnival, and animal auction. Through all of these they are getting closer and closer which led to some hot love scenes. After 6 weeks Jasper has his soft opening and his Dad and 2 brothers come for it. His Dad still doesn’t believe that he can make a success of it and his brother, Gage, is downright condescending. But his Daddy comes through and stands up for him. It also comes out about what really happened with his ex and his father starts to see him in a new light and apologizes. Then they both declare their love for each other and a year later there is a sweet scene that shows where their relationship is heading in the future. I really enjoyed this story. Jasper is loud, outgoing, and full of joy most of the time and everyone loves being around him. His family sometimes brings him down but he recovers quickly and he wants to show them he is capable of running a business and doing a good job at it. Hank has been alone for a while and engrossed in his ranch. But meeting Jasper changes everything. The more he is with him the more he wants to be his Daddy and to protect him. It wasn’t hard for them to fall in love with each other. Bert and Faust and Jasper’s family play a big part in the story as do the goats and the babydoll sheep that they see at the auction. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like Daddy/Boy stories where there is a first time Daddy, a Boy in need of help and protection, some family drama, and lots of animals as they find their way to love.

This book is part of the multi-author Saddle Up series. Each book is a standalone read. This is the story of Jasper Greer and Hank Vogel. Jasper has moved to Comfort to start up a queer-friendly B&B in the house that he has inherited. Jasper has enthusiastically thrown himself into starting up the B&B. He is also gay and a boy who would love to find a daddy. The first thing that Jasper does is buy four goats for the B&B and promptly names them Dolly, Tammy, Loretta and Reba after the four country divas. That sets the tone for the fun that is to follow. Hank has inherited his families failing farm. With lots of hard work, he has converted it into a game ranch. His focus is now on conservation and stewardship instead of a commercial operation. Jasper and Hank are neighbors in the small town of Comfort. The two first meet when Jasper is trying to wrangle his goats out of Hanks pasture wearing flip-flops and pedal pushers. To say Hank is less than impressed is an understatement. But that doesn't stop Jasper from keeping on interacting with him. He tempts Hank with baked goods and home made food. As they begin to get to know each other well, Hank realizes that Jasper wants a daddy. He has never been one before but for Jasper he is interested in trying. This is their story. Jasper is a ray of sunshine. Unfortunately his confidence has been undermined by family and ex friends. It is great to see how Hank continues to fully support Jasper even when he is overcome with self doubt. I liked the pleasant surprise that came about when the sex questions came up. Jasper and Hank are perfect for each other. I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review. The book is well written and easy to read. I enjoyed all the small town characters and all their quirks. A very fun book to read.

This is a book in a multi author series called “Saddle Up”. It can definitely be read as a standalone as each book focuses on different characters!

This book focuses on Hank- bi-sexual cowboy Daddy and Jasper- gay B&B owner Little. It is a low angst, quick and cosy read, perfect for a palate cleanser between heavy going reads! I came away feeling happy and cheerful after reading this book!

I loved Jaspers character developement from being unsure of himself as a business owner (because of his dad and ex) to a confident queer B&B owner thanks to his hunky Daddy Hank! I liked the little nods to other books that Kilpatrick has written as well! The nod to my favourite genre of Country music had me laughing with the names of Jaspers Goat-a-roonies! All iconic country divas- Dolly, Tammy, Reba and Loretta!

This book is first person and dual POV. I love this writing style as you gain an all round perspective of the experience of both characters. The language is straight forward, making for easy reading!

The spice and chemistry is portrayed perfectly! It is a bit different as there is no penetrative intercourse as both MMCs are sides so it was an interesting read as I’ve not read many books like that! Even without penetration the heat was HOT 🥵

The two MMCs are loveable and the side characters just make the story all that more funny and lighthearted!

This book contains some of my favourite tropes as well!

🐴 small town
🐴 grumpy v sunshine
🐴 found family
🐴 DDBL dynamic
🐴 side rep
🐴 country boy vs city boy

Overall ratings:
🌟 5/5

Listen, I love everything Kerry writes. This book and these boys were no exception. In fact, Hank is right up there as one of my favorite characters (right behind Beckett, who no one will dethrone!).

There's something so geniune and grounded about Hank, and I adored that he figured out pretty quickly that it would be pointless to fight whatever was happening with Jasper. Going with the flow seemed like the only option, and I could absolutely picture him with an amused smile playing around his mouth at everything Jasper does. Jasper, on the other hand, is a complete force of nature. He is bright and bold and full of life, even while trying to talk himself out of his insecurities. This public facing side of Jasper is such a contrast to his softer, little side.

Hank and Jasper complement each other perfectly and I loved every moment with them. This story is sweet and tender, and filled with small-town vibes that will make you wish you could visit. I hope this isn't the last time we get to see Hank and Jasper!

A quick uncomplicated - no drama - comfy read with two guys falling for each other and just go with it… They enjoy themselves and their time together and show each other the value of one another.

This book joins the Saddle up series - a multi author ‘Daddy cowboy’ collaboration - what more do you need to dig in!

I always fancy a daddy/ little story - Jasper is such a happy outgoing one of a kind, who brings so much joy to
Hank’s life. One day he is there, next door, in his full glory, opening up a bed & breakfast. Hank, our cowboy, is instantly captured by him and when he finds Jasper one night sad and deep in his little space he goes full into daddy mode without even hesitating. He embraces the daddy lifestyle from that moment on as if he had always done it.

I adore them and how they fit together and accomplish all their daily life endeavors, in a small town where everyone is… well a bit nosy and gossipy… but truly helpful. Everyone welcomed Jasper with open arms - happy, sunshiny Jasper - you also will love this little! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finding Home in Comfort is such a warm, sweet Daddy/boy romance with just the right mix of small-town charm, found family, and heart. Hank and Jasper are total opposites with one a quiet, steady rancher meeting a loud, sparkly newcomer with four mischievous goats, but their chemistry clicks from the moment they collide (literally, thanks to those goats).

What I loved most was watching Hank slowly realize he wants to be Jasper’s Daddy, even though he never pictured himself in that role. Jasper’s sunshiny joy, vulnerability, and determination to finally follow through on something make him impossible not to root for. Their dynamic grows naturally, gently, and with so much tenderness.

The story is full of soft moments, community support, adorable animals, and just enough emotional weight to make their happily-ever-after feel incredibly satisfying. By the end, I was completely in love with both of them.

If you enjoy low-angst Daddy/boy romance, small-town vibes, and characters who find exactly where they belong, this one is an absolute delight.

Part of a multi-author series (Saddle Up), but can be read as a standalone. Small town. Daddy/boy. Side representation. Dual POV.

Inheriting a house in Comfort, Texas, Jasper has plans to turn it into a B&B, not expecting the ranch owner next door to be the Daddy he’s wished for. Hank doesn’t know how to be a Daddy, but for Jasper he’s willing to try because making Jasper happy seems to be the key to making Hank’s heart sing.

This was a low angst story with two men that see all kinds of possibilities whenever they are together. Hank is super sweet and even as he makes a couple of stumbles learning to be Jasper’s Daddy, he is determined to do and be his best which is swoony. Jasper has to overcome a lot of his own self doubts and family pressure, but he’s so earnest and hardworking that it’s easy to root for him to get everything he dreams of. A cute story with two likable characters and a supportive small town.

I own all this author’s books as I really like the way they write dd/lb. Admittedly I was a little nervous going into this as I’m not really a cowboy fan. However, thankfully it’s not all ‘horses/ranchers/cattle’! It’s about a sweet guy, suffering a huge crisis in confidence, that decides to open up a B&B. Naturally his hunky next door neighbour is there to lend a helping hand.

If you’re on the fence with age play then this would be a good tester book for you to try. It’s not really a huge focus, like Jasper is a Little, but he doesn’t need a dedicated ‘little time’ or playroom etc. it’s just something that crops up naturally.

We get much more focus on Jasper, his wonderful goats (who get a star role) and the building relationship with Hank. I also liked how Jasper is able to confront his father in a mature way about his behaviour, people listen to each other and communicate. It’s healthy, and the issues are not just swept under the rug. It is annoying for me when shitty family get away with crap behaviour.

Overall I enjoyed this book, it was a good story, not too much angst, easy to read. Hank was a good Daddy despite a few stumbles, and Jasper had me giggling with his antics around his beloved goats (AKA his ladies).

Very sweet, low angst, a little kinky, heartwarming, story. Jasper is a very sweet guy, with a huge lack of self-confidence (in great part due to his father) that he hides under humour and sass. He inherits a house is a Texas small town that he transforms in a bed and breakfast, and he has a very attractive but broody cowboy neighbour : Hank. Hank is actually a sweetheart, with protective instincts. They go so well together, and complement each other. Jasper is a Little, and instinctively knows that Hank is a Daddy even if Hank doesn't know it yet, but is very open to explore. . I really enjoyed this book, it was easy to read and left me with a smile.

This book is art of the Saddle Up multi-author series , but is a complete standalone.

I got an ARC and this is my honest review.

A little who moves across the country to prove himself to his family and a neighbour who is set in his ways and caring for a little was not part of the plan.
Jasper was an adorable character and from the start you can see his vision of opening up his own B&B. I loved Jasper's enthusiasm and how giddy he got whether it was his goat-a-roomies or perfected a breakfast recipe. However, I did not like how his family treated him. All the way through my hackles were up when they appeared on the scene.
This was low angst and a pleasant read as I watched Hank learning how to be a Daddy. Whilst at times it didn't always go smoothly, I loved how Hank wanted to do better. They were perfect for each other and I would love to read more with their dynamic
Kerry Kilpatrick is a one click for me and I love their Daddy/Little books and after reading this one, I hope we get stories about Jasper's brothers as they sure have stories to tell

Sweet, low angst, hurt/comfort, Daddy/boy

Jasper is a sweet little who's been betrayed by his last Daddy.
It really left him hurting and doubting himself.
It doesn't help that he's flighty and his dad and brothers don't have faith in him.
He's desperate to make things work as a successful businessman at his B&B.
His only problem is the hot cowboy next door.
Hank is immediately besotted with Jasper.
He finds out quickly that Jasper's a little and then sort of naturally falls into being his Daddy.
There are some bumps along the way because Hank's never really been in a relationship or a Daddy before.
Jasper also has difficulty believing he's worthy of love.
This was a really sweet and steamy romance with lots of adorable animals.

I love the way Kerry writes littles. This was so sweet. I adore how soft and sparkly sunshine Jasper was for this book. He's the best kind of character because he just brings joy. I hated seeing him sad, but I loved Hank as his protective Daddy. These two were adorable. Also, I have to love the respect given to H-E-B. As a Texan, this is very important. Also, all the goats and sheep sound adorable, and I now want to go pet goats. I loved this so much.

Jasper is a Little who inherited his relative's house. He plans to have a B&B and his neighbor Hank is the tall drink of water next door who rings all his bells. It's fitting Hank calls him "Sugar" as this book is oh so, lip smacking sweet. Jasper is insecure but actually very competent and Hank makes the best Daddy ever. I loved how adorable Jasper's Little was and Hank steps in seamlessly to comfort and take care of him. I really adored this sweet treat, this couple was wonderful.

This story was sweet. Jasper and Hank find each other when they need it the most. Hank may not have been a Daddy before, but he is a natural at caring for Jasper. Together, they just might make Jasper’s B&B and Hank’s ranch feel like home. Jasper is pure liquid sunshine in a cup and I wanted to smack his family around for dimming that shine. I kinda wanted a little more resolution there than we got, but this is still a good story and worth a read.

Hank and Jasper’s story is so cute and sweet. I love their relationship and how it starts. I really like how both try to remain mindful of being the best they can be for the other. I like the way their relationship starts and the ending of the book is great. I really hope we get to see more of the side characters in the future. I recommend this book!

Lovely as Always but with a Cowboy Twist

To be fair Hank is more rancher than cowboy but I do still think it fits. That said, Kerry Kilpatrick does UT again. This book was absolutely wonderful and I loved the goats!!!!

This started out really cute and could have been a fantastic novella, but I lost interest a bit in the second half, it could definitely have been edited and tightened up a bit more. Overall it was sweet and a decent read.

Starting over in the town of comfort, Jasper is bringing his dreams of a B&B to life. Won’t his neighbor Hank coming to his aid when he needs him too, they strike a friendship which leads them both to discovering the similarities they share.
Romance is quickly to bloom and the little who has never had a Daddy that gets a;l,of his uniqueness finally finds himself Daddy who is the perfect fit for him.

A sweet low angst read that is full of small tow meddling, adorable goats and farm animals, daddy/little dynamics and a cute HEA.
