"Spiritually tinged YA Fantasy that may cast a spell over fans of the Twilight Saga." - Kirkus ReviewsLegend has it, there's an ancient Lemurian city hidden deep within Mount Shasta, California. For seventeen-year-old Ellie Blake, daughter of the local innkeeper, the tourists' stories all seem like a joke. Portals, Big Foot, Lemurians... These people can't be for real.
But, when weird things start happening to Ellie, and the stories converge with tales of energy-vampires and magic, she needs answers. She never could have predicted what she would find underground... the impossible decision she would be faced with... or, the Lemurian Changeling boy who could rip all her choices away in an instant, if she gets too close. But she can't keep herself away.
Ben writes primarily YA Urban Fantasy. When he's not writing, he's painting his crystal grids, or streaming on Twitch. He's lived the life of a traveler, bouncing from place to place, and in his thirty-eight years, he's never stayed in one spot longer than three. It's not entirely his fault... his parents didn't know how to stay still and it rubbed off. But it made for some great adventures, and, even though he's finally settling down, his heart still yearns to return to van-life.
As a fan of Twilight, I'm in love with The Lemurian Saga. The vibe is similar... it's based around local small town legends, it combines vampires and magic, and there's romance... but Ellie's magical journey isn't dependent on it like Bella's was in Twilight (which makes this even better, in my opinion).
I love the way the author incorporated crystal magic and energy work. Especially the legends of Lemuria, something I've been interested in for years. The dialogue was natural, the narrative voice was effortless to follow, and I found myself completely immersed in the story. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
This was an excellent read! The Lemurian Saga was so well written and captivating and left me wanting more. I cannot wait for the next installment to be released. I definitely recommend!
