An Inspirational Tale of Self-Discovery and Freedom
As a fan of dystopian fiction, I was immediately drawn to "Michael's Story: Book 2 of the Infinity Series" by Charles Martin Cosgriff. From the very first page, I was captivated by the highly imaginative and thought-provoking world that Cosgriff had created. The story is set in a future world where a select group of controllers are attempting to mold humanity to their will, and Michael is part of that experiment who discovers his freedom just the same.
What I enjoyed most about this book was the childlike lead character, Michael, and his journey of self-discovery and rebellion against an oppressive system. The tension between two worlds and the occasional humor added a nice layer of depth to the story. I also appreciated the friendship between the two main characters, which felt genuine and added emotional depth to the story.
The novel is easy to follow and engaging, making it a quick and enjoyable read. The story is relevant and timely, exploring themes of self-determination, rebellion, and personal growth.
It resonated with me on a deep level, and I was left feeling uplifted and motivated. I highly recommend "Michael's Story" to anyone who enjoys dystopian fiction with a strong emphasis on personal growth, rebellion, and the search for truth. I am eagerly looking forward to the next book in the Infinity Series.
I really enjoyed this well-crafted tale of a dystopian utopia and it’s unlikely hero. There’s plenty of immersive mystery at the start that teases its way into gradual understanding then, inevitable conflict. Strong characters, solid plotting, and a well-conceived world make for an engaging read. Reminded me a bit of what it might be like if C.S. Lewis, instead of George Orwell, had written 1984. One minor bother: there are a significant number of typos. Could have used one more copy-editing pass. All in all though, I’d recommend it.
This was a very interesting story of a society that has become a bland and almost lifeless way of life. People becoming drones and just slowly moving through the day. People who want individuality forced to obey. I think a lot of people will find this an interesting read and enjoy it.
A thrilling dystopian ride with an ending you won't see coming! The story follows Michael, who is taken into a mysterious community divided into factions: the Red, the Purple, and the Green. When the community discovers his knack for numbers, they assign him to keep records and analyze statistics. While Dr. Green helps him acclimate to his new life, the Judge works behind the scenes to secure him a better position. However, Michael soon discovers a dark secret—he was actually part of a sinister experiment until he rebelled. With the help of his friend Nathaniel, Michael finds a safe haven outside the community's walls. But when they are discovered, the community destroys his sanctuary and takes his friend with it. Fueled by grief, Michael decides to fight back and orchestrates a war. It is a war that history notes was not won. You will have to read this book to discover exactly how the war was lost and what ultimately happens to Michael. It features an ending that completely subverts expectations!
Michael's Story by Charles Martin Cosgriff is a dystopian novel that follows a boy, Michael trying to survive. He gets thrust into a revolutionary role against an authoritarian regime hellbent on molding their vision of a perfect society. I felt a lot of determination in Michael. He tried so hard at every turn yet struggled with his internal failings. There was a lot of humor which made him more alive. This book was a fun read, and I enjoyed every word. I recommend it to readers who like dystopian stories with solid characters, great dialog, and powerful plots full of twists.
Michaels’s story is an interesting dystopian novel - it portrays the imbalance of powers that led to multiple problems this fantasy world faces. The book has a great plot and a likable main character, Michael, who gets involved in the revolution movement against his will.
As a reader, I noticed several things that need work - the book had multiple typos. Also, some scenes show the events unfolding too fast, so the pace was hard to follow. Overall, I think the book can become compelling after several minor revisions.
I was surprisingly impressed by this book. Same as the first one, I would’ve absolutely passed it up because of the boring cover, but I’m glad I cracked it open. They say not to judge a book by its cover, and even though we all do, this one fits that stereotype. Definitely worth reading because the story is so well put together and thought out in advance.
This story has a great premise—I LOVE dystopian novels. I do think the book needs some more editing and some more detail to help flesh out the plot. Very interesting, though!!
The ending! I was expecting some element of hope! None. Still, that isn't a deal breaker. This could be better with a thorough edit. Even grammerly and a beta reader could help. The author has promise, but the editing is an essential. Not sure if I will read Book 3.
