Poetry at the edge of love, consciousness, and collapse - Solipsis Eclipse is a raw collection of erotic, psychedelic, and mystical verse. Spanning 6 years of inner and outer exploration, Dustin Cormier's debut work moves through dreamy landscapes, devotional longing, and moments of neurological intensity, tracing a mind dissolving and reforming in real time.
Influenced by traditions like the romantics, free-verse Walt Whitman and haiku, it also features the artwork of Benjamin Nagy, whose illustrative eye is an engaging silhouette for the writings presented. An ecstatic and fresh rendering of modern poetry.
words live dangerously close to an open heart / teetering at the edge / loose chains over a chasm / wide and deep as memory
A psychedelic zen beat-poet mapping altered states of consciousness.
Since encountering Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda in 2012, Dustin has pursued the far edges of ecstasy and madness—documenting the inner journey through his writing.
As a Human Design reflector, his work surveys the human experience in all its beauty and distortion, moving through the collective shadow, mysticism, psychology, and real lived experience.
I recently read Dustin Cormier’s ‘Solipsis Eclipse’ and I must say that it was quite an enjoyable experience poetically and visually. A sensory experience that can‘t be described in the detail it deserves. It just needs to be experienced.
Here are some of my favourite quotes from throughout the book:
In the spine of time’s lost travels.
Grasping for walls In a dissolving mind.
Pulsing hips, wind, A smooth crystal ocean.
As I lay upon my soul’s secret beach, A crystal quartz in the sand
We peered through time’s waxy Apex at what might become
If my mind should go astray, Capture it and make me stay - I only have eyes for you.
And one line from the book that sums up how this book may make you feel: My heart's crystal vessel filled!
This book is introspective, contemplative, and mindful. The artwork is just as vivid as the poetry. The combination is a masterpiece while each element also stands alone with grace like an old Redwood.
