Insightful, Eloquent, and Unforgettable

Blown away. I thought when I was reading Redefine Rich that I had picked it up off a "Bestsellers" table at Barnes & Noble. I had the pleasure of reading it in ebook format (preorder), and I was amazed at how beautifully it was formatted. Matt Ham gives more than memorable, life-changing advice—he transforms your thinking about what it means to be truly rich. Every story and real-life example are expertly weaved throughout his book, and I wish everyone could read it. I would label him as someone who tells a story like Zig Ziglar, provides advice like John C. Maxwell, and writes with the eloquence of Brian Tracy. As an avid reader and editor, I am highly critical of books. After finishing Matt's book, I realized the changes I needed to implement in my life. Today, I am working hard to redefine rich, and hope you will too.

Redefine Rich is a message that has the ability to resonate in the lives of people, no matter their walk in life: rich or poor, male or female, struggling or not. It asks us to examine our life with honesty and admit something that our culture tells us to ignore: admitting we're broken. Though this can be difficult to face, it also has the ability to free you. The remaining principles (invest in others, choose gratitude, and humble yourself with confidence) facilitates a life that has lasting legacy. That legacy is something every single one of us can give. It is Ham's legacy chapters that spoke to me the most. I believe these lines spoke to me more than any other:

"I have come to realize that so many of us, including myself, have taken shelter in our caves from time to time. We're in hiding, fearful of the life we are called to live."

Fear is real. The beauty, though, is the choice to live out principles such as the RICH principles that can facilitate an authentic life...a life that has lasting legacy.

Being rich isn't simply about monetary wealth. Living a rich life is about so much more. This book encourages and inspires you to live our lives intentionally so that we can experience the rich and full lives that God intends for us, and that we may honor Him in the process. Even from our places of brokenness, we can experience this richness. I believe that this book will encourage others to shift their perspective and help them to live richly.

I must admit I bought this book because I met the author at a conference and I love to support new authors as I hope people support me when I publish a book. Redefine Rich far exceeded my expectations. I typically like to read books quickly so I can move onto the next, but Redefine Rich is not a book to breeze through. It's a book to savor, to really evaluate your life and ponder the words and challenges by the author. If you are struggling to make sense in your life, have money and are not happy, are happy and want to be happier and live with joy and gratitude, read this book. You won't be sorry. I laughed and on multiple occasions cried. Matt has a way with words that often made me feel like I was with him in the moment and could feel his raw emotion as he shared it on the pages of the book. If you want to change your life, read Redefine Rich.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Matt Ham for the last 5 years. Our relationship began as a client/agent relationship as he manages our insurance policy. I never thought I would find such depth of character in an insurance salesman, of which profession there are many stereotypes. I will admit that when I began reading his blog it made me a little intimidated and a little jealous because of how different his life was early on and the greatness he obtained in high school, college, and early career. Hearing his story of loss and struggle and redemption and his perspective that it is all a part of the pursuit of true richness has inspired me in many areas of my own life. This is a great book and I highly encourage you to pick it up and read it...more than once!

This is a fantastic study on living a RICH life. The principles illustrated here (defined with an acrostic RICH) are really something the world needs to hear. I've been teaching, preaching, coaching, and speaking on Stewardship for years and the RICH principles align with the ideas I've been teaching very well (and that's probably why I love the book, huh?) But more than that if everyone would take Matt's advice and just examine their life through these principles not only would THEIR life be Richer, but so would be the lives of those of us who live beside them.

If you are looking for a touching read about what it REALLY means to be RICH, you couldn't be better served than by this book.

Loved Matt's first outing as a published author. Matt challenges us in our quest to become rich and how it needs to be refined.

Starting with the story of his dying aunt, Matt brings the reasons to life.

If you're looking for a book to help you look at richness differently, this is the book for you.
