Echoes Trilogy #3

Echoes of Fate

Rate this book
Dani's return home to Maine after three years of diplomatic missions overseas lands her in jail and within Colonel Houston's crosshairs. Maine's civilian and Commonwealth forces continue to work together against the Wardens-the genocidal faction of alien Echoes-but Dani's relationship with Colonel Houston deteriorates into a personal conflict, putting others' lives at risk. When Houston has sixteen-year-old Oliver whisked away to become a Commonwealth soldier, Dani's primary ally in getting him back, General Ramos, is declared missing in action.

Though she knows it is a trap, Dani heads into Warden territory to retrieve General Ramos. The mission takes her into Canada and surrounding New England, where she and Rowan, a Warden, once again cross paths. Setbacks do not deter Rowan, but his increasingly reckless resolve to defeat the Commonwealth and destroy all humans on Earth jeopardize Dani's life and the Commonwealth's plan to win the war.

So, yet again I have come to the party late. The series makes much more sense if you read them in order. You get to know the characters better.

Dani is returning home from a three year diplomatic mission overseas and is seriously ready for some downtime. When home she finds the commander of Maine has lost herself with her desire for power send her into murky waters. She also fights dirty and doesn't care who she hurts to get what she wants.

The finally of the trilogy finds Dani in danger not only from her enemies but also some of her allies.

Campbell has a compelling writing style which allows you to become involved with everything. You find yourself routing for Dani to come out on top. But in order to appreciate this book you have got to read one and two. It's why I'm a little late with this review.

It's a war that needs to end but some don't care how that happens. But in order to win Dani needs help from the ancients.
I can't say more because it will spoil the book for you.

If you love action and adventure give this a go. It does slow down a little which I appreciated because it allowed me time to digest everything. Excellent book and an even better series. Enjoy!

Wow, Just Wow! Having just finished Book Three in the ECHOES TRILOGY, ECHOES OF FATE, before reading Book One, ECHOES OF WAR, and Book Two, ECHOES OF DARKNESS, I’m even more excited to see how this story begins.

I LOVE the bad*ss women in this Trilogy—as the reader, it’s easy to follow their storyline if ECHOES OF FATE Book Three is where you chose to begin.

ECHOES OF FATE will have you laughing out loud one minute and will break your heart the next.

Highly Recommend!

Thank you, Sonar Press and Smith Publicity, for providing me with a Paperback copy of ECHOES OF FATE in the request of an honest review.

A masterful conclusion.

Whether on the winning side or losing, war is full of loss and suffering. Campbell depicts this painfully well in the equally heartwarming and heartbreaking conclusion of her Echoes Trilogy, Echoes of Fate. As with the two books before it (Echoes of War and Echoes of Darkness), the depth of her characters and fast paced action scenes combine for an unputdownable volume of work. I highly recommend the entire trilogy to sci-fi lovers, or to anyone who enjoys a good story.

A fine closing out of the Echoes trilogy.

After returning home from three years of a diplomatic mission, Dani is ready for some downtime. She finds that Catherine Houston, in command in Maine, has allowed her desire for more power lead her to murky and dangerous waters. Aunt Hattie, along with Mary and Dani, sabotage a lab where normal humans are being injected with Echo DNA, to try and create hybrid humans who can regen after being killed, as Dani does, and how the Wardens (the bad guys) do.

Speaking of the Wardens, the CNA is looking to finish them off and drive them the areas of Canada they've taken. Houston got lucky when Dani showed up in Boston and the fight went the CNA's way, with Houston getting the credit for the win, but since then, her record has been rather mediocre, which is slowing her down from further rising in the ranks.

When they're looking over the best place to attack the Wardens, Dani is not in agreement with Houston's plan, and suggests an alternate target and strategy. However, they have no current information on enemy strength in that area. General Ramos agrees with the plan, and decides to lead a recon team himself - an exceptionally bad idea.

It's also Oliver's birthday, and although he is not yet of age, Houston decides there has been an error in his records, and that he's a year older than he is. She orders Oliver and three other teens to be taken to boot camp, and from there, to be thrown into battle.

Meanwhile, there's been no word from Ramos, and he is presumed missing. Dani is sent to go after him, along with Mary, Miles (who she's been sleeping with for the past three years, after her last regen), and two others.

That sets up the remainder of the book quite well, and I'll stop there to avoid spoilers. I'll say this: there were a few things that happened that I never thought would happen, and that takes some guts for an author to do, so kudos to Ms Campbell for that.

The only ding I'm giving is for some extended passages of introspection that slow down the action a bit. Even with that, I'm still giving it five out of five stars. It's a terrific series.

Thanks to Sonar Press and NetGalley for the reading copy.

Dani and her fellow Brigands need to end this war before she loses everything she has! It was so hard finishing this trilogy, because I wasn't ready to be done yet! I love Campbell's writing style, she always leaves you wanting more. I am still recovering from reading this finale, all the twists and turns left me wishing for a fourth book because I am not ready to part with these characters. If you are looking for intense Sci-Fi action packed with strong female leads and futuristic technology, you will love this trilogy.

Fighting the Wardens is bad enough, but this thrilling series finale has Dani in direct danger from her own allies. Colonel Houston fights dirty, and doesn't care who she hurts to get Dani and General Ramos out of her way as she tries to climb to the top of the CNA ranks. We have skipped a few years into the future, Oliver is about to turn 16. Dani promised him she would end this war before he turns 17 and gets automatically enlisted. Miles doesn't want his son to have to join the fight, and Mary and Aunt Hattie are going to do all they can to keep them all safe. The clock is ticking from the beginning in this riveting read! Across enemy lines in Montreal, Rowan plots to end Dani, no matter the costs. He will stop at nothing to take her down, even if he loses his own family or dies in the struggle. Join Dani, her force of Brigands, and the CNA to bring the Wardens down for the last time. They need help from the Ancients to end this once and for all, and finally bring peace to earth.

All 3 books are hard to put down, so now you can read all 3 consecutively if you don't like to wait! I will want to re-read them in order now that the wait is over, but I need my heart to stop pounding first. Campbell gets right into the thick of it immediately with intense action and doesn't wait to see if you are following along. Like Dani, she kicks ass from the get go and doesn't take shit from anybody, just what I want in a heroine!

Cheryl Campbell finishes her fun trilogy about the revolt against the Wardens with Echoes of Fate (self published in paper). Centuries ago aliens arrived on Earth and mixed their DNA with humans to create people who revive after death, and can only be killed permanently during the revival period. In our near future some of the aliens decide they deserve to rule. Dani is an Echo who loses her memory at each death, and is fighting with humans to restore liberty. This final tale is basically the battle for Montreal and is as exciting as the first two parts. Review printed by Philadelphia Free Press

Book 3 of this action packed series does not disappoint. Ms Campbell stays true to her writing style and wastes no time getting right into the action of the story. She has you on the edge of your seat from the start. Like others who had to wait for the completion of this trilogy, I will definitely be going back to reread it in its entirety. I think book 3 is the best among the series and well worth the wait. The creative ideas throughout the series have the makings for the big screen or perhaps an Amazon Prime movie. Looking forward to the next thrill ride from Cheryl Campbell.
