Even Ever After #3

Even Robots Die

Rate this book
They took over the world three hundred years ago. The shapeshifters.

They tried to pass as fair angels or benevolent magical beings, but I know they’re far from that.

The worst ones might be the bird-shifters who tried to enslave us, but the others are no better than bystanders who’ve never tried to protect us either.

And now, one of them has my father and wants me to work for him.

He’s as insufferable as he is handsome, but I need the money.

I don’t need his help, though. I’ve always managed everything without any help.

I may be only human, but I’ve been building weapons to kill his kind since I was a teenager.

My aim has only ever been to overthrow the shifters, and now, I have to save one.

But not everything is as it seems, and maybe we can help each other.

I’ll do anything to save my family, though, so I guess I’m about to find out.

Even Robots Die is the 3rd and final book in the Even Ever After trilogy and it was an amazing end to an amazing series!

Even Robots Die is about FMC Florentine, who we have met a couple of times in both books 1 and 2. She is extremely smart and can make or do just about anything with technology. She created the faraday cage around Leandre's body which allowed him to leave confinement in book 2. We also learn a lot more about what she has created and who is using those creations. Florentine is "kidnapped" by MMC Brice who was brutally tested on in book 1, and recovered in book 2, but we did not learn about the true outcome of his recovery until this story. The birds had done basically shock therapy on Brice's brain, which resulted in him having no "feelings" or emotions, and also wanted to murder his best friend. So Brice has hired/kidnapped Florentine to create a program to fix him. Florentine can really use the money, so she agrees to do this, and the more time she spends around Brice, the more she likes him, against her better judgement.

I want to call out how amazing the author writes these stories, and I just love how each book delves deeper into a character you have already met. but you get to read from their perspective. Everything is so well interconnected within the books.

This book is tied with book 1 for me as my favorite in the trilogy. Florentine, though extremely young compared to the older shifters, is amazing. She has persevered through so much, and she is amazingly talented. Regardless of being just human in a shifter run world, she has made the best of her talents, all while taking care of her 3 siblings. Her father is in the picture, but mostly just gambles away all the money that Florentine makes. The job Brice has hired her for (initially semi-kidnapped but she realizes she is not being held against her will in anyway) is extremely complex, but will pay well enough that she can give each of her siblings a good chunk of money to live on for a while. Florentine really grows in the time she is with Brice, and Brice helps show her that what she wants is just as important as taking care of everyone else.

I love Brice's character as well, I mean he was literally tortured into an assassin, and re-wired to kill his best friend, Elyhor, as the birds have not been successful in doing so themselves. Yet, he is doing everything he can to fix his brain, having researched and found the one person who can help him, Florentine. Brice is immediately attracted to Florentine, or "Miss Furious" as he liked to call her. For some reason, she is the first and only person who has made him feel some kind of emotion, the downside for Florentine, the way he feels the most is by angering her, he just loves how "she turns a deep crimson when she gets furious and (he) like(s) the sight of it."

Beyond the budding romance between Brice and Florentine, there is a larger war between the bird shifters, and everyone else (human and other shifters). I love how the story, while a romance, has a lot of action and intrigue going on at the same time. This story really ties up the conflict well that started in book 1.

How will this enemies to lovers story turn out? You have read to find out!!

Some Fav Quotes:
"If I wasn't so annoyed with him just now, I would love for those full lips to be on me. Wait, Flo, no daydreaming about your captor."

"I can barely breathe. I've been in the same room as Florentine for less than ten minutes and already I want to do everything in my power to rile her up. I don't know why."

"Her eyes lit up with the strength of those words and I can see how bright the spark of her rage is. I want her rage. From now on, her rage belongs to me."

"She's mine, and I'll keep blowing on the spark until she sets the world on fire."

"I haven't been able to feel much of anything since I woke up after my imprisonment, and yet the first thing my broken brain decides to cling to is obsession."

"That man looks rough from the outside and yet he's the first one who took the time to understand me at my core and I find it highly intoxicating."

"I fall in front of him, on all fours again, panting, moaning, and screaming his name like it's a prayer-because after all, we're in a church, so why not?"

"Once upon a time I met a beast who couldn't feel, but I know I wasn't dealing with my feelings any better. I might have felt too much, but it was nothing compared to being loved by him. Once upon a time, I met a beast who needed saving. Instead, he saved me."

Thank you so much to the author for a copy of this book!

Even Robots Die is the third and final book in the Even Ever After trilogy, and one that I definitely recommend reading in order to fully grasp the world and the situation for the characters.

I really enjoyed getting Florentine's story! We've met her in the previous books as the human who was known for building weapons to use against the shifters. We learn so much more about her, her family situation, how she takes care of everyone but herself...yeah, she's just a character you gotta love for her strength and grit. Now she's been roped into trying to help Brice (Cassiope's father) regain his emotions and "fix" his brain.

I adored these two together - the sass, the banter, how Brice started to feel again but only when he was aggravating Florentine, was a delight to read about! They have a delicious slow burn as she works on trying to develop the right process to heal his mind. Now on top of that, they're both roped into trying to put an end to the bird shifters' control of things.

If you're a fan of forced proximity, slow burns, unique shifters, body positivity, you'll love this one. I adored Brice's love for Florentine and how he was there for her, even when she didn't know he was.

The only question I was left with at the end of this was.....

I love how unique this world is, it's a great urban fantasy/paranormal/romantasy trilogy, and I've absolutely loved reading this. I do think that Angélique and Elhyor are my favorite couple still (I LOVED the lovely long epilogue we got with everyone!!), and I know that I'd love a return to this world in the future if an idea every strikes the author!

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I think this book has been my favorite in this series!
Even Robots Die focuses on Florentine, or Miss F, if you've read the previous books. Florentine is sassy and strong, but suffers silently on the inside from insecurity and doubt. She's smart and creative, and I loved the ADHD rep with her character because I could relate a lot to some of the things she said or did.
The MMC in this one is Brice, whose brain got messed with previously in the story, and he wants Florentine to help fix him. Little does he know that she will fix more than just his lack of emotion and feeling. Their relationship starts off with him pretty much taking her hostage to fix him, and ends in such an amazing way. I loved their banter, how he purposely tried to make her mad or annoy her, and how she sassed him back the whole time. I loved the slow burn of their relationship, and how he did whatever he could to take care of her, since no one else seemed to care to do that throughout her life because SHE was the one always coming to the rescue and taking care of others.
Like always, this author killed it with the spicy scenes! Never a disappointment there with any book that she writes.
This book also follows the main plot of the series, with the bird shifters doing evil things, and Florentine and Brice work together to try and overtake them. You'll see some characters from the previous books in this one as well, and I love how everything is tied together in this series, even though each book centers around different MCs in the world.
I love this series, and every book has been so good!

Have you ever read a book and, after the first page, thought, “Okay, I don’t know this author, but sure as hell she knows me“?
That is exactly how Even Robots Die by E.V. Sauvage made me feel – Seen.
So buckle up, because baby, we are going for a ride.

Overall Rating
★★★★★★★★★★

“I know you and I know the value you put into your work, so no, I don’t need reassurance, but even if I did, your feelings are valid, too. You are allowed to panic, to cry, or to crumble without it overshadowing me or my feelings. It’s okay to not feel okay. You don’t have to hide it with me.”

Synopsis
Even Robots Die is the third book in the Even Ever After series. It could be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the first two books in the series so you have better context on the plot (there is also a short novella, but it has no impact on the story). In this book, we are following bat shifter Brice and human girl Florentine, or Miss F. as she is normally referred to. Florentine is the oldest daughter who is taking care of her sister and her piece of sh… something father, who has a liiiiitttle gambling problem.. As little as that he cannot take care of his family. Brice is a bat shifter whose brain was fried by evil birdshifters parading as angels, and he needs our little human genius, Florentine, to fix him. But he did not expect to get fixed in more than one way.

Thoughts
What can I say to you? From the first moment I read about Miss F. in book one, I was interested in her story. Redhead that is good with gears and PCs? She seemed like my kind of gal. But I did not expect emotional turmoil and ass called out multiple times through this book. I expected a fun adventure that would fill my romance cup like the previous one in the series. But instead, I was served some of my own emotional traumas served me back like “Here, honey, listen to someone else who can place your pain in the words”. Don’t get me wrong. This book is fun and full of steamy romance. But the background of Florentine her internal thoughts was so similar to mine that I was shocked. I cried multiple times through the book because her emotional healing was also mine. As you can probably say by now, I deeply felt this book and love it so much, I think I will recommend it as therapy to every oldest golden daughter I know.

Ashole that will take care of you
I must say, Brice is my new number 1 book Daddy. He is such an asshole first part of book ( and you cannot tell me that it is because his brain was fried I believe he is the same as my husband and enjoy making her mad too much 😉😅) but he still takes care of Florentine when nobody else cared ( Yes his similarity to my husband are obvious, I am biased sue me 🤣) I think every women should have someone who will show her mirror when she is acting up but takes care of her without taking it personally.

IT Queen with a lot on her plate
Florentine is my bookish soulmate woman, She is my better self and I will treasure her story for my whole life. Never ever have I met a book that felt so personal for me, even thou this is a fantasy romance. So what can I say? Miss F and Milton became my Roman empire and I will not shut up about this book. Sorry to all of my bookish friends. I am not sorry. Emeline broke me to pieces with how she wrote the Florentine story, her persona, her background, her family… But with Brice, she mended my heart and reminded me that what we really need is only one right person.

Banter, spice, and food
Emeline as always wrote some great banter in this book, I was cackling like a crow at some parts and weeping at other sweet moments, I am pretty sure I am going to need to go to France to try their pastry because I was so hungry because of the description of deserts in book😅Also this one was most delicious slow burn, I read in a long time. And when they sparked…. they went full fireworks😉

Even Robots Die by E. V. Sauvage
is a great fit for every lover of futuristic romantasy that loves good banter, little action, and great slow burn.
Read this book if you want laughter, longing, and a story that feels like a wrench to the gut—in the best way. Oldest daughters, this one’s for us.

This was my first EV Sauvage, and it was highly entertaining with great tension and slow burn yearning rewarded with some spice. I loved the characters, and the story was well done. I also appreciated that it's a standalone and a pretty easy read. It definitely can be read in between more traumatic and longer reads. It was fairly light. The banter was also super sassy and super cute. I love a good f it moment, and this had a great one. The FMC was very self driven, and the MMC takes care of her. One of my favorite tropes. It was done so well.

It definitely had the fated mates feel to it but done in a super creative way that wasn't an actual fated mates.

I would recommend.

This book was one of my favorite in the series… it’s very relatable and has some raw emotions. The relationship between florentine and Brice was one to swoon over. I loved reading this book so much. I recommend reading the series.. it’s so addictive you will not be able to put it down.

Some of my Favorite quotes:

🖤”from now on, her rage belongs to me. She’s mine, and I’ll keep blowing on the spark until she sets the world on fire.”

🖤”I see you looking at me when you think I’m not watching.”

”Don’t make me carry you, Miss Furious. You won’t like it.”

🖤”Everyone deserves to be heard, but more importantly everyone deserves to be seen.”

🖤”you don’t have to hide your truth around me.”

🖤”That insolent mouth of yours is going to be the death of me.”

I absolutely loved Even Robots Die. I was instantly drawn to this book with a stubborn, nerdy, plus sized FMC with ADHD, just like me! It was like reading the perfect blend of romantasy and sci-fi where I felt like I was being represented and the star of the show! This book had it all: Blood drinking bat-shifter MMC, Awesome tech and weapons designed by a FMC in STEM, an epic battle between shifters, brain surgery, witty banter, great spice, and of course a lovable AI companion named Milton! Great as a standalone but ever better after reading Even Angels Fall and Even Vampires Bleed!

I honestly could not wait to get my hands on an ARC copy of Even Robots Die by @e.v.sauvage_books When I saw that the FMC, Florentine, was just like me: a curvy science nerd who will stop at nothing to help take care of her family I was instantly sold! Florentine finds herself held captive by Brice, a bat shifter, after attempting to rescue her degenerate gambler of a father. Brice agrees to let her go and even pay for her services if she uses her tech genius to help him. Brice was tortured by the bird shifters, and basically had his brain reprogrammed to hate and destroy his best friend, and in the process lost all his emotions. So he comes up with a plan, kidnap the human genius Florentine who is the only one capable of reprogramming the machine needed to make him normal again. What he didn’t plan for was falling for his captive or being pulled into the resistance movement to end the tyranny of the bird shifters.

Such a great fun read and a perfect blend of sci-fi and romantasy! It was like a breath of fresh air on so many levels, from the genre mash-up, the cool science and tech from a woman in STEM, a unique take on shifters, and full of such amazing body positivity. I also love the way the ADHD was portrayed, as someone who has this issue it felt so great to see it represented in fantasy and I could totally related to Florentine’s feeling of her brain never slowing down until it completely burns out.

Even Robots Die is the third book in the Even Ever After series, however it can be read as a standalone without any confusion for the reader. I hadn’t read the first two books: Even Angels Fall and Even Vampires Bleed before I read this and I was pulled into the story and able to follow it without any issues. Now I’m going back to read the first two books because I really just love this world so much!

I was gifted the ARC, Even Robots Die by @e.v.sauvage_books in return for an honest review.

Even Robots Die is the last book in the Even Ever After Series and features the coolest FMC. She’s spicy, curvy, smart, basically a total bad ass. She falls for an older man quite quickly and throughout the book, we watch the two MC’s navigate a will they / won’t they relationship. Pair that with a shitty father, selfish sisters and a cool AI and you’ve got yourself a book that makes you frustrated AF, sad, mad everything in between. I enjoyed most pieces of this book however, I didn’t enjoy the constant feeding of sweets to Florentine - it just seemed super cliche and rubbed me the wrong way. How is she supposed to live and do all the things without getting any real food in her??? Anyways, overall - I enjoyed the entire series and would recommend.

This is a dark future fantasy romance with a morally grey bat shifter MMC (Brice) and a human tech genius FMC (Florentine). These two cracked me up with their push and pull, banter, and slowwwwwww burn. Brice is such a grumpy A-hole but his obsession with Florentine had me swooning. The age gap was well done and as usual, I was drawn into the story right away. I love how unique the plot is and the writing is exactly what I love to read. Sauvage does an excellent job world building and fully immersing the reader into the story. Written as an interconnected standalone, although I would recommend reading the prior books in the series to get the full experience. I am looking forward to reading whatever E.V. has in store for us in the future!

“Be bold. Be brash. Be sassy. Be greedy. Be furious. As long as you’re you, I’ll be next to you.”

From the dedication to the very last page- I felt seen! The STEM-nerd FMC who takes care of everyone but herself? Yeah… that hit a little too close to home 👀 I knew when we first met Miss F earlier in the series she’d be a fun character, but I was not expecting to get called out on every page 😳

And then there’s Brice- our resident asshole MMC 🤣 Solid, reliable, and way too good at pushing Miss F’s buttons just to get a rise out of her. Watching him go from Mr. Unfeeling to Mr. Obsessed in a couple hundred pages was chef’s kiss.

I absolutely adore this book, and honestly, this whole series! If you want a romantasy packed with unique shifters, spice, and characters you’ll fall in love with, you need this on your TBR. They’re all on KU and such fun binge-reads!

Thank you to the amazing and fantastic author for sharing a very early copy of this book with me !!! I’m ready for a reread … again and again and always with these two !!!

“I want you to fix me”

“I want her rage. From now on, her rage belongs to me. She’s mine, and I’ll keep blowing in the spark until she sets that world on fire”

“You gonna ever have to hide your truth around me … I can take it. I will take it.”

For the first born daughter who sacrificed and who never though their could ask for help and didn’t value themselves as much as they should have. I should have seen it coming. From the dedication on the first page, I knew this book would have been different from the other two in the Ever After series. I simply didn’t know how much. Florentine is such a strong and resilient character and so many of us can clearly see ourselves reflected in her. But behind her strength, there are doubts and insecurities like for every other human being. Brice is able to bring those all to the surface while being both an insufferable idiot and a charming bat man with a heart of gold, desperately trying to get his emotions back, after the terrible torture he has bene through. Their dynamic was so enjoyable, that I found myself incapable of putting the book down. Their banter, the way they riled one another up, was amazing. And the spicy scenes … they were as hot as they were emotional. The feelings that were brought to the surface were so intense that I didn’t know if cry or feel excited at the same time. In this kinda beauty and the beast dynamic, these two are fighting like they don’t want to lose one another. And when the moment where they finally share their emotions comes … chaos ensues!!! And I was so in for that!!! To be fair , very very early on I might have developed an unhealthy obsession for Brice and the fact that there was dual PoV … it didn’t help one bit. When I found myself in his mind … boy, the things I wanted to do to him and say to him. That bat shifter is as much an aşșhole as he is perfection !!!! And I love it!!! I’m so so honoured I got the opportunity to read a very very early copy of this book. I felt called out every once in a while, just to be called in the action and the romance in a way that made me tear up !!! And the ending … I might start bursting into tears again because of how good it was !!!!

“You forget you’re authorised to have expectations … You’re authorised to want things for yourself. You’re authorised to want”

“She could make civilisations kneel at her feet just with the strength of that glare. She is magnificent. She is perfect. And I’m never letting her go”

“Be bold. Be brash. Be sassy. Be greedy. Be furious”

“I won’t fuck you like I hate you. I’ll fuck you like the obsession you are to me”

This slow burn, age gap and sinfully mouthy novel took me for a ride. Between the emotional connection and mental health recognition I was sucked right into ERD. Brice was taken and tortured and now doesn't feel and his brain was wired to attack his best friend. Florentine has been working under the cover of her gambling father on tech and mechanics in this ongoing war.

Flo searches for her dad because he disappeared again just to come across Brice who is "exchanging" her help for her father's freedom. From taking care of herself and her sisters Flo is on a mission to get the job done right and go back to provide in her motherly stance.

This book has so much sass and cocky banter that the slow burn was highly entertaining. The deep emotion of care taking and self burn out was raw and real. Absolutely beautifully written and showcased.

Spice was amazing and placed exactly where it needed to be. ✨️📚✨️

I loved this conclusion to the Even Ever After series.

We catch up with Miss F, aka Florentine, whom we met in Even Angels Fall. We see that despite her being in her early twenties, she's the main responsible person in her household. At the beginning of ERD, we find Florentine searching for her father, who is being held captive by Brice. After the series of events from the series so far, Brice is left partially lobotomized with no emotions and a desire to unalive his best friend Elhyor. He is holding Florentine's father captive so that he can figure out how to fix him.

We get some Beauty and the Beast vibes when Florentine trades herself for her father, offering to stay to figure out how to bring back Brice's emotions and reverse his murderous tendencies against his best friend. And the mutual yearning for each other! Sadly they both are too good at keeping their desires under control and neither believes the other has any feelings other than platonic. Brice seems to show his attraction by teasing Florentine, calling her Miss Furious, even though he feels strange with this flirting given that Florentine is younger than his daughter. He lets this slip, and Florentine ends up ends up thinking that Brice could never return her attraction. It's not until she finally tells him how she feels that they take things slightly to the next level in her workshop!

We do need to wrap up this war of the humans (and really the other shifters) against the bird shifters. Florentine has been supplying the weapons to the resistance, and once they find some of the final prisoners, they are able to take down the tyranny of the bird shifters.

I loved the multiple epilogues, catching up with all of our favorite couples from the main stories and seeing where they ended up a few years after the end of the uprising. Everyone is happy with their other half, and we see that they continue to hang out together. Such a cute ending!

Some favorite quotes:
"So much violence in such a pretty package."
The vixen thought I didn't catch her when she lied? She doesn't know me well enough.
I have to remember to thank whoever decided to give her the room across from mine. Oh. Wait. That was me.
She's mine, and I'll keep blowing on the spark until she sets the world on fire.
Who needs to be hungry for sweet treats, anyway?
Because everyone deserves to be heard, but more importantly, everyone deserves to be seen.
I wanted her rage to be mine. Maybe you still want that, though. But now? I want the full panel. I want the full range. I'll take all her emotions. And I'll make sure she finally believes they're valid.
It's only ever been her.
"You forget you're allowed to have expectations that are completely different from your dad or your sisters. You're allowed to want things for yourself. You're allowed to want. Period. And if I have to piss you off for you to hear me say that, I'll make you mad every day until you finally believe it."
...seeing her like this, I want to drop at her feet and worship at the altar of the terrifying goddess that she is.
I realize this is the first time I feel cherished and it comes from the man I've called an a-hole for the past few weeks.
Did I unexpectedly catch feelings for the big bad bat? Right on the verge of an open war? That's silly of me.
"You miss me, Furious?" "Maybe. You know you're an idiot and that I'll make sure to tell you as many times as you need?" "Yes, I know."
"Be bold. Be brash. Be sassy. Be greedy. Be furious. As long as you're you, I'll be next to you."
Once upon a time, I met a beast who needed saving. Instead, he saved me.

If you love a story with reluctant allies, age gap, plus size rep, ADHD rep, let's overthrow the power in place, nerdy girl, slowest of slow burn, Beauty and the Beast retelling, he's a stalker, he falls first and harder, human/bat-shifter pairing, and "I can fix him", make sure to check out Even Robots Die!

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️/5

Even Robots Die is book 3 in The Even Ever After Series and hits the ground running where book 2 left off. If it’s been a minute since you read books 1 & 2, E.V. Sauvage gives enough information about current issues our MCs are facing so you feel like you’re up to date and are thrown right back into the plot! You’ll be itching to see how things play out against the bird shifters who have been maiming, tørtüring, experimenting on & ☠️ those they deem expendable in their quest to maintain power over humans and other shifters. But, remember our genius tinkerer who stopped Léandre’s brain from 💣💥? She’s been secretly helping the Resistance in the background…will it be enough?

🦇Bat Shifter MMC
⚙️Genius Human FMC
💜Age Gap Romance
🦇Reluctant Allies (He LOVES to Push Her Buttons)
💜Slow Burn
⚙️ADHD & Plus Size Rep
🦇He Falls First & Follows Her
💜“I can fix him”
⚙️Corrupt Political Power vs. The Resistance

The bird shifters took over the world 300 years ago–trying to pass as angels, but humans have learned the hard way the shifters can be far from benevolent. The worst of the bird shifters tried to enslave the humans “beneath” them, while other shifters haven’t intervened…

And now? One of the bat shifters has Florentine’s dad and wants her to work for him. It's unfortunate that the Big Bad Bat is as insufferable as he is handsome, and Florentine needs the money. Although she needs the money, she doesn’t want any of his help–she’s managed fine on her own cleaning up her dad’s messes and caring for her sisters…not to mention building weapons that can ☠️ since she was a teen to overthrow the shifters…but now? Now, Florentine has to save the very bat she “can’t stand.”

But, is everything as it seems? Will Florentine be able to do the impossible and help rewire another brain the birds corrupted for their own machinations and gain more allies for The Resistance in the process? Or will time run out before she can complete the job? And will her heart remain intact in the process?

Listen, this might be a controversial opinion, but if he essentially blackmails and ladynaps her to get her to help him and she’s forced to spend time with him in a castle working on a project…well…sparks are going to fly one way or another and I am HERE FOR IT! I devoured the tension between Florentine and Brice and I was patiently (anxiously) awaiting for that tension to snap! Brice was enamored with Florentine from the second he pushed her buttons and I LIVED for when he got her enraged because the dirty thoughts this man had were chef’s kiss! The slow burn edged me (in a good way) and I loved the evolving dynamic between these two from reluctant allies to finding comfort in one another. The plot was fast-paced and I found myself reading this one in almost one day because I HAD to know what was happening next and how things were going to play out!

This was a fabulous conclusion! Highly recommend!

4.5 rounded up to 5

“You gonna ever have to hide your truth around me... I can take it. I will take it.”

Third book in the Even Ever After series, this sci-fi fantasy romance is a stand-alone but I 100% recommend reading the whole series because it is so much fun! Even Robots Die not only has Beauty and the Beast vibes with enemies to lovers and a way slow burn to scorched earth heat, witty banter and characters chemistry that practically leaps off the pages, shifters, nerdy girl with an “I can fix him” attitude, he stalks and falls first and a sprinkle of political intrigue to throw your emotional roller coaster into over drive.

This installment follows Florentine, a redheaded genius with tech who has been creating and maintaining weapons since she was young to take out those who have taken over for the last 30O years. Her resentment for these beings is rivaled only for her anger towards those who stood by and did nothing, protected no one, while the shifters took over. She is forced to fix the shifter who took her father, only to have her hatred for these beings intensified. In her pursuit for their destruction, she starts to see the good in them or at least how handsome and charming they can be. Will she be able to resist the chemistry she has with one and being them all down or will she cave and accept his help?

Sci-fi is not something that I typically read and enjoy, but other than that aspect, this story was a thrill to read. Although this book is not as spicy as some of its predecessors, it is still HOT and perfectly placed as to not overpower the story, only enhances it. The writing is a breeze and well developed, and the FMC is just perfectly imperfect and so relatable. Thank you for this whole series, it truly is a treat.

The stunning conclusion for the Even Ever After series….if you haven’t read the first two books…that’s okay—I’m going to try to review without spoilers.

How different the world looks…there’s finally flying cars….along with a huge power shift…it isn’t so much the wealthy in charge…it’s the shapeshifters.

They’d been observing for years…possibly centuries…so when the worlds collided….they took over.

War is brewing…that happens when someone sneaks in & manages to only assassinate one ‘archangel’ & mortally wound another.

You’ve been requested to ‘fix’ a problem that the bird-shifters (aka fake ‘archangels’) caused…even when it’s outside of your area of expertise (tinkering & building things)…

Your father is being himself…gambling away money faster than ever…getting himself into trouble, while expecting you to bail him out…

The ‘big bad bat’ may not be as bad as you originally thought…

When the fight starts…who will win….the fake archangels or everyone & thing else?

The answers…within the pages of Even Robots Die, the final book in the Even Ever After series.

I totally binge-read these books (Even Angels Fall, Even Vampires Bleed, & Even Robots Die) over the past week. I love a good fantasy/romance series…and this one was superb. Set in France (namely within Paris), 600 years in the future—we see what happens when a group of shapeshifters get a little too greedy for power & such.

Can it be read as a standalone? Absolutely…and once you get to the end—it’s suggested on whether or not you read all three bonus epilogues (based on whether or not you’ve read the previous two books).

Am I going to be looking for other books by the author? Again…absolutely…

Five out of five stars for Even Robots Die…grab a copy today…because spending a three-day weekend curled up reading…I think that’s the best way to spend an holiday weekend.

Despite everything that has happened, Brice is determined to right what has happened to him. Although the method he has chosen to do this in isn’t necessarily the best when it comes to method, it’s still his best chance. Florentine is protective of her family and between them and her new task, it’s a lot to process but her brain (and Milton!) are up to the task. But what happens when personalities clash and suddenly it’s more than just “reprogramming” Brice? Now, there’s a lot more at stake for Florentine.

Florentine’s character has always been the most intriguing to me. From her introduction earlier in the series I’ve always wondered how she plays into everything so I’m really glad that we have a book about her. I love her big brain (brainy is sexy, okay?) and how easy it is for me to relate - not being able to shut your brain up? Totally get it. But I also adore the hardened and determined Brice. His trajectory throughout the series has been quite a journey and to see him in this one has been magnificent.

I really enjoyed the way Sauvage had Florentine and Brice’s relationship teetering. To put two people like Florentine and Brice together is very interesting - she’s always been self-reliant and the family caretaker who is now forced to have to rely on someone; he’s trying to find the pieces of himself he lost but is also determined to protect her…which is weird because he hasn’t been able to feel anything. I love that Brice is so supportive of Florentine and also so in awe of her abilities even though…his methods are on the spicier side. I love that he sees her and encourages her to lean on others for support. I love that despite her circumstances, Florentine is a fighter.

Thank you ever so much to E.V. Sauvage for the gifted ARC. I’m so glad I was right about Brice! All opinions are my own.

Incredible. This is such an experience. I thought Elhyor and Angelique could never be beaten but Brice and Florentine...uffff 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

First, Florentine, ohmygod!!! Such a beautiful and kind hearted person but so strong and fierce. All through the series I was against bird shifters supporting all other shifters. But reading Florentine POV made me think how unfair for humans it is (even though Catherine and rebels are there from the beginning, I haven't thought much). How Florentine felt guilty of hurting others, how empathetic she is and all made me realise how humanity thinks the contrast between shifters and humans. She is smart, confident and intelligent and most importantly my favourite, how she stand side by side with the shifters.

Next, Brice 🫠🫠🫠🫠 I was so sure that Elhyor is going to be my most favourite from the series but..... Elhyor was best no doubt in that. and I thought no one could surpass him. But Brice did. I love Brice more than Elhyor, 🤏🏻 this much. God he is AMAZING 😍💝😍 I am amazed at how caring and affectionate he is (for someone who lost feelings, he made me feel a lot of butterflies through out the book). I am obsessed about him as much as he is for Florentine.

Coming to the story to was beautifully weaven. The emotions, plot and the writing were amazing 😍 I am so impressed by this book, I devoured it. The last few chapters were so intense. I thought the title "even Robots die" it was about Florentine (as she is tech genie and always armoured with weapons and all) and was nervous all along about the ending. And when the scene related title came I was crying bad😭😭😭 I didn't know I could cry for "non human" things (not saying what it is for the purpose of not spoiling) one thing is for sure, I had an amazing experience with this book. I love it.

Disclosure: I received an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book in exchange for an honest review. As someone who loves supporting indie authors, I always aim to share thoughtful, fair feedback. While I have personal reading preferences like a love for fantasy, horses, or specific tropes, I never let that impact my rating unless it is relevant to the book’s intent or audience. I review with the genre and readership in mind.

Star rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️

Every now and then I pick up a sci fi book and even if I know what I am in for, I still get surprised. The genre hits so differently after reading so much fantasy, especially ones with medieval or historical settings. As a tech girl myself I loved that the FMC got a tech genius role. It is great to see female characters in a male dominant field displayed as geniuses, and Florentine was not only good in tech, she was a real pioneer, an inventor, and a solid column of humanity.

The lesson I am absolutely taking with me from this story is that family is not a life sentence. I often see it highlighted how important family is and that we should do all for them, but should we? This book poses the perfect perspective which tugs at that limit where you draw the line. The struggles frustrated me so badly. I wanted to scream at her that it is okay to let some people go, but of course that is not something I can do with book characters. We all wish, but sadly not yet.

Even though it was advertised as a standalone, I felt like the rest of the series is a must. The world felt shallow at times and lacked the buildup needed for the reader to fully understand the conflict we are thrown into. It would hit harder after reading the earlier books, even if they are about different couples. I also found the title a bit awkward. Without spoiling anything, if the title is this, then I must have missed Florentine’s apparently tight connection. It should have been more detailed to really pull the emotions from the reader. There was a page that was clearly meant to hit hard and pull some tears, but I was left dry.

Overall this was a good read that I enjoyed, but I think it could have been stronger with deeper worldbuilding and a more fleshed out connection for that emotional moment.

My absolute favourite quote from the story:
"I’ve been in the same room as Florentine for less than ten minutes and already I want to do everything in my power to rile her up. I don’t know why."

I was introduced to the dystopian society in E.V. Sauvage's The Even Ever After series for the first time through her book Even Angels Fall. I had loved that book; Elhyor and Angelique's story had been riveting. So I was very much looking forward to this 3rd installment that now features Brice and Florentine, and wow, this book did not disappoint.

I loved the build up of the romance here between Brice and Florentine. It was excruciatingly slow-burn that just when you think they'd finally light things up, the moment stops to give way to more pressing matters that the both of them need to attend to. In a way, that made the anticipation to their eventual union all the more enticing.

I likewise loved the focus on Florentine and her genius at building weapons and manipulating computer software. She was such a badass at that, and I love my heroines like that. Her troubles with her immediate family and her difficulty saying no to them no matter how abusive of her help they were already becoming just added an interesting layer to her already fascinating character. Brice's own story, too, was engrossing. I'd become invested in how he was going to reclaim full control of his mind and emotions through Florentine's help. i just wish that more screen time drama, so to speak, was afforded to when Brice finally underwent the procedure that would finally fix his brain, one that was made possible through Florentine's genius. That was, after all, why Brice had detained her in the first place.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the story overall. There was an enticing romance, entertaining action, thoughtful character development, and fascinating plot. I'm immensely glad to have come across this series.

I was granted a free review copy of this book. This review is offered voluntarily.

This book was a fantastic potential end to the series which makes me sad, but I was ecstatic to know we were getting Brice's story especially after how hard he's been hurt in the first book of the series.

Firstly, it's best to read this series from the very beginning, it's a wonderful series full of excitement, an ongoing war, not quite fated mates but magnetic love between different shifter species, and in this book- human.

Florentine AKA Miss Furious is a fiesty red head human, who is tech savvy and knows her way around technology and weapons, she's a fighter but pushes herself constantly and is put into a rather compromising position to 'fix' Brice after he's had his brain operated on and has no feelings.
Brice- oh hello there you handsome bat! There's an age gap, he's emotionless until he meets his little Miss Furious, he pushes all her buttons to see how red she can really get. But underneath, he is the absolute sweetest God damn man ever- he's a little stalkerish- which I'm not complaining about, he's always watching, noticing, making sure she eats and drinks and showers, that she has everything she needs, he looks after her because she looks after everyone else.

This story draws all the previous books together, to fight against the bird shifters who have created chaos and havoc in Paris, so there's some action, a slow burn which has you wanting to push them together quicker, there's family issues amd questioning motives and actions but overall a great read that I really enjoyed, and I've enjoyed the whole series overall. It's unique and set in a different futuristic shifter timeline, with different animal shifters which sets my imagination wild with imagery.

Even Robots Die - E V Sauvage
The Even Ever After Series Book 3

Thank you @e.v.sauvage_books  @crownsandchaos_pr for my gifted ARC ebook

My Review:
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Pages: 391
Published: August 28, 2025
Nickname: Miss Furious
Genre: Fantasy
Tropes:

💜  Reluctant allies
💜  Age gap
💜  Plus size rep
💜  ADHD rep
💜  Let’s overthrow the power in place
💜  Nerdy girl
💜  Slowest of slow burn
💜  Beauty and the beast retelling
💜  He’s a stalker
💜  He falls first and he falls harder
💜  Human/bat-shifter pairing
💜  “I can fix him”

This is Brice and Florentine’s story. I’ve read a lot of shifter books, but this is a first where there are bird shifters and the MMC is a bat shifter/vampire. I fell in love with him for that reason alone! I’ve always loved vampire books and have no idea why I never thought of them as bat shifters. Florentine is human but a genius in my opinion. She is invents weapons … very technical weapons. The bird shifters messed with Brice’s brain trying to turn him into an emotionless robot. He kidnaps Florentine so that she can find a way to fix him.

Their banter is top tier. Florentine can hold her own in any verbal assault and Brice loves nothing more than riling her up.

The character development was excellent in my opinion as was the world building. This is my first book by this author. I will be going back and reading the first two books in this series.

Now go read the book to find out if Florentine is able to “fix” Brice and if the bird shifters rule can be overthrown.

I highly recommend this book.

Have you ever read a book and, right from the first page, thought, “Okay, I don’t know this author, but damn, they get me”? That’s exactly how Even Robots Die by E.V. Sauvage made me feel – like the author had peeked into my soul and created a world that spoke directly to me. This book took me on a ride I didn’t know I needed, one that not only swept me up into a fantastical adventure but also showed me a new world, one where I could escape and feel deeply seen at the same time.

Let me tell you – this isn’t just a story, it’s an experience. And you won’t want to miss it.

From the start, I knew I was going to love Florentine. She’s a redhead, brilliant with tech and mechanics, and has this quiet strength that immediately drew me in. I expected a fun, lighthearted adventure, like the previous books in the series. But what I didn’t expect was how much this book would wreck me emotionally. Florentine’s inner turmoil, her struggles with being the oldest daughter carrying the weight of her family’s problems, felt so real to me, like reading my own heartache, my own unresolved trauma reflected back at me. It was raw, vulnerable, and honestly, I cried more than once, because her journey toward healing felt so personal.

Brice, the bat shifter, was not what I expected either. He’s a total asshole at first, but you can tell there’s so much more beneath that gruff exterior. And oh my god, the way he takes care of Florentine when no one else will? Chef’s kiss. I think what I love the most about him is that he’s both an absolute jerk and surprisingly tender. His flaws make him real, and his loyalty to Florentine, once he realizes what he’s actually feeling, makes him impossible to resist. By the time I was in his POV, I was completely smitten. I mean, who knew that a bat shifter with emotional baggage could be so swoon-worthy?

The chemistry between Brice and Florentine is off the charts. The banter? The slow burn? Perfection. There’s something electric about the way they rile each other up, and their back-and-forth had me laughing one minute and tearing up the next. And don’t even get me started on the tiramisu scene. That moment alone had my heart racing and my cheeks blushing. When the tension between them finally snaps, it’s like fireworks going off, and I was all in for that explosion of emotions.

But it wasn’t just the romance that hooked me, it was how the book handled deeper themes. Florentine’s emotional growth resonated with me on such a personal level. She’s the type of woman who gives and gives, but never asks for anything in return, and watching her evolve through the story felt like my own healing unfolding in real-time. That’s what made this book so special—it wasn’t just the plot or the romance. It was how much it felt.

And yes, there’s spice—but it's placed perfectly, in those moments where it hits hardest. It’s the kind of slow burn that has you begging for release, only to be given it at just the right moment, leaving you breathless. The emotional tension, the yearning, and the eventual explosion of passion were all deliciously satisfying. Trust me, these two will make your heart race, and your pulse spike in all the right ways.

Even Robots Die is so much more than just a futuristic romance. It’s a deeply emotional journey with action, humor, and moments that will make you laugh and cry in equal measure. It’s for anyone who’s ever felt like they’ve carried too much on their own shoulders, or struggled with what it means to be strong when you’re falling apart inside.

For the oldest daughters, especially those who’ve been taught to be everything for everyone else, this book is a love letter. A reminder that it’s okay to be vulnerable, that we don’t always have to carry the weight alone, and that the right person will help you heal in ways you never imagined. This book—this love story—reminds you that there’s someone out there who sees you, who’ll stand by you, even when you’re at your worst.

Thank you, E.V. Sauvage, for sharing this beautiful, heart-wrenching, and utterly unforgettable book. You’ve earned a fan for life. I’ll be rereading this one over and over again, and I’ll be recommending it to every person I know. If you haven’t picked it up yet, do yourself a favor and dive in. You’re in for one hell of a ride.

*Beauty and the Beast with a splash of futuristic Penelope Featherington

4.5 🌟 2 🌶️
Even Robots Die was definitely difficult to read at first, but that was on me, not E.V. because I did not read the rest of the series. Certain plotlines had started in the previous books, even certain character backgrounds, but as soon as I got to about 30% in that's when I started having a clearer understanding of the books contents 😅

Brice, the MMC, was funny from the atart with his initial obsession for our FMC, Florentine "Flo." Without spoiling what all happens - let's just say our Big Bad Bat isn't that bad and just missing some pieces that he slowly regains throughout the chapters - and unbeknownst to Flo. Flo is a bad b!tch and I related a lot to her as a fellow older sister and carrying the weight of family expectations. Don't even get me started on the endometriosis rep - most books don't discuss the level of pain and what occurs the same way that E.V. employed and I'm certainly grateful and satisfied with how she wrote that in. Another part that I LOVED is that E.V. didn't force Flo to have kids with Brice in the epilogue which was very consistent and I loved that too.

My only issue, besides the fact that I should have read the first two books, is that some parts of the book were a bit awkward - like how tf does coffee taste like confusion? This part is extremely minor though which is why I think this book is a solid 4.5 out of 5!!

I DEFINITELY recommend reading the first two books - Even Angels Fall and Even Vampires Bleed - before reading Even Robots Die to avoid my mistake 😅 This one is for the girls who are the older sisters, computer geeks, and girls who just might have a blood kink - or for an older man 😏 OH and no pregnancy trope (;

Let’s start with the obvious: I developed a completely irrational, possibly unhealthy obsession with Brice about five minutes into the book. I’m such a sucker for dual POV? It’s a trap. The moment I got inside his chaotic, emotionally constipated mind, it was over. That bat shifter is a walking contradiction—equal parts insufferable jerk and tortured perfection. I wanted to slap him, kiss him, and psychoanalyze him all at once.
Now enter Florentine. She’s not just strong, she’s the kind of resilient that makes you want to stand up and clap. But she’s not some cardboard cutout of a warrior woman. She’s layered, flawed, and painfully human. Her doubts and insecurities simmer just beneath the surface, and Brice, bless his emotionally wrecked soul, manages to drag them out while being a complete menace. Their dynamic? Unhinged. And I loved every second of it.
The banter? Sharp enough to draw blood. The tension? So thick you could cut it with Brice’s ego. And the spicy scenes? Oh, honey. They were molten. Not just hot-for-hot’s-sake, but emotionally raw and intense enough to make me question my own stability. I didn’t know whether to cry, scream, or fan myself into oblivion.
These two fight like they’re allergic to vulnerability, yet every clash is laced with desperation not to lose each other. And when they finally crack open and spill their feelings? Absolute chaos. And I was front row, popcorn in hand, ready for the emotional carnage.
In short: I couldn’t put the book down. I didn’t want to. I was too busy spiraling over Brice’s broken heart and Florentine’s quiet strength. If loving a fictional bat man is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

The third installment in the Even Ever After series, although can be read solo, but trust, you'll want the previous treats!!

Florentines the eldest sibling, taking on the role of caregiver for her sisters and father, who has a gambling addiction. Out to save her father,..Brice a bat shifter, crosses paths with Florentine, a human girl, in an unexpected encounter, leading to the making of an unlikely duo. Brice needing our little human genius, Florentines help, to cure him, as his brain has been zapped by evil bird shifters masquerading as angels-what a mess!

Involving Florentines father, she makes a deal, to help him against her better judgment for she holds deep resentment towards him, for past transgressions. The slow burn, is full of high tension as brice is in for a double whammy of a repair job! Not just his mind but his heart!! As Florentine herself also finds her heart in quite the predicament.

The storyline's got some great surprises in store, and the banter's just the right amount of cheeky and charming and let's not forget the passion - it's seriously hot! The characters in this one are total winners, with the FMC being all kinds of driven and the MMC being ridiculously adorable. I do enjoy a good curveball, and this one's got some amazing moments!

It's one of my favorite tropes, and it's written nicely.

The war primarily between the bird and bat shifts (with humans and other shifters caught in the middle) continues to spin towards a mass casualty ending.

She’s the fixer, for everyone. She fixes it when her dad gambles the house budget away and disappears for days on end. She fixes it when her mother leaves and she becomes the primary parent to her sisters. She fixes it when humans start getting slaughtered by bird shifters. With everything considered, she shouldn’t have been surprised when the bat shifters kidnapped her to help fix one of their leaders.

This bat shifters is the dragon shifter’s, Elhyor, best friend. The dragon is both a protector of bat shifters and humans. The bird shifters tortured and changed this bat shifter’s brain chemistry. Now his only completely irrational goal is to kill Elhyor on site. A fact everyone learns the moment he recovers and sees Elhyor for the first time. This fixer human is his only chance to alter his brain chemistry and he will try anything to gain his life back.

I was privileged to receive an ARC of this book and have been honest in my review of it. I did not receive anything in exchange for my review.

—- Light Spoiler —-

The age gap cracks me up. I love it.

The description of her overthinking / overactive brain was written accurate to how mine constantly spins out of control.

As a nerdy/techy eldest daughter who always has felt she’s had to look out for everyone else’s including her parents, this book really got me. You start out with the FMC, Florentine, having to rescue her dad from another bad situation, but little does she know he’s really bare to get her. A bat shifter has taken him to get her to come out and kidnap her so that she can use her mind and talents with computers and electronics to fix his brain that’s been hardwired to forget how to feel anything and want to kill his best friend. As time goes on she realizes he may not be the worst person and by helping him she may gain enough money to help dig her family out of the hole her father keeps putting them in. As she continues to work round the clock to help Brice, he starts to fall for her and their tension and banter poking fun at each other only builds their bond further.

This book has a good cast of characters, I honestly was so mad at her sisters sometimes but also understand they sort of see her as their parent and Milton the AI I love and her conversations with him in her mind. There were splashes of characters from other parts of this series which was great to touch back in with them. The tension between her and Brice was a good buildup and he was doing everything he could to resist her but she wanted him just as much. That’s the thing I like the most about dual POV is getting to see inside multiple characters brains and see why they do some of the things they do. Overall I enjoyed this book and the plot, though for world building I would recommend making sure you read the others first as this one just kind of pops you in the middle of the conflict! My rating 4.6/5!

Thanks to the author and crowns and chaos Pr for the gifted arc, all opinions given are my own!
