Waffles and Pancakes are two hamsters, from the same pet store, that went to their new homes on the same day. They also happen to be the best of friends. The Waffles And Pancakes series are well written stories that teach valuable lessons on friendship, bullying, the true meaning of Christmas and on being different with each one helping the reader dig deeper into the true meaning of character, courage and consciousness. The stories pay careful attention to explaining the lesson with clear examples and descriptive passages that empower the reader to be kind, compassionate and respectful.

These books are great to read aloud to younger children, but I feel their real magic lies in older children who can read on their own; this is an important niche. These heartfelt lessons are respectful to the intelligence of the reader and should be available in libraries, schools and therapists offices. These books are great tools for social emotional learning!

I read this too A and K and I felt that the lesson within the story was a very important one for them know. Christmas is not just about presents it is about giving to others. Within this story a group of friends and their neighborhood are affected by Hurricane Sandy. Some kids may not get a Christmas so this group of friends decide to do something about it. When Santa sees their kindness he does something special for them.
This is a good book to read around the holidays because it feels you with warmth to read about others doing good things for others.

I shared this book with my girls. My 9 years old said she loves how this book has Danny and Griffin wanting to help those that lost everything. They were willing to give up their allowances and told Santa they would rather their gifts go to someone who lost everything. My 8 year old said that she can’t wait until she can have a hard copy of this book to add to her personal library collection.

This is a good book showing young kids how even in a tragic time like hurricane sandy, we can still help each other and it helps us. Making the hard times not so hard to deal with.
