Yay we have Newman's story with book 5 of Slaying Love Novel.
And what a wonderful story this is.
While Ex-Detective Newman is hiding out from his shattered life and his career he ruined. The lovely Amelia knocks on his door and refuses to leave until he agrees to help her find her missing brother.
This story is suspenseful, with danger, the mystery behind who took Adam, a police chief with a bad attitude.
Amelia saw only good in Newman. She didn't care what other people said about him no matter how frustrating he was always trying to push her away.
I truly loved this story. It warmed my heart that he got his second chance and redemption for his past mistakes. They are a perfect match for each other.
I highly recommend this book.
Amanda is an amazing author. Guaranteed HEA with mystery and twists that keep you turning the pages.
This book and this series is definitely a must read.

Newman and Amelia are a pairing that sparks equal parts frustration, laughter, and disbelief as their story unfolds. Your heart goes out to Newman, even as you can’t help but shake your head at the weight of his tainted past and how relentlessly it follows him. Amelia is harder to pin down at first, but she steadily grows on you, revealing depth and strength that make her impossible not to respect. The emotions run deep—raw, painful, and hard-earned—but the journey forward makes every ache worthwhile. The enduring friendships, strengthened through suffering, were a highlight, grounding the story with loyalty and heart. Add in meaningful banter, steady faith, and a strong thread of suspense, and this becomes a powerful tale of redemption done beautifully.

I have so enjoyed reading this story, it was raw in it's honesty and allowed us to understand Newman as he began to understand himself, something that probably many readers of this series never thought would happen! I really enjoyed seeing him and Amelia get to know each other, seeing how she handled him and seeing how he connected with her brother and supported them both. Having the support he recieved from previous characters in this added to the story, as did the first meeting of Dee and Amber and the men's reactions to the two of them together. This story also had a very swoon worthy moment which showed just how perfect for each other these two were.

The fifth book in the A Slaying Love series. Ex-Detective Newman and Amelia Benedict's story is truly wonderful. The plot is incredibly suspenseful, filled with danger, the mystery of Adam’s disappearance, and the tension of a police chief with a bad attitude. I loved how Amelia only saw the good in Newman, refusing to leave him until he agreed to help her. Despite his efforts to push her away, her persistence and belief in him—regardless of what others said—made for a compelling dynamic. It was heartwarming to see Newman receive a second chance and find redemption for his past mistakes. They are a perfect match for one another. In the previous books in this series, Newman has been portrayed negatively and not fully integrated as a team player. He has been dubious and contentious, but now left the force in disgrace.
I was looking forward to his story and the author has not let me down. She has given him an opportunity to redeem himslf, a second chance at many things and to show what he can offer, with a more positive nature.
Amelia wants his help to find her brother and is determined to see something different lies beneath the surface. She pushes herself towards him as he tries to push he back. She is a perfect match for him in many ways.
A well written storyline of trust, drama and suspense with a HEA ending.

This is book 5 in A Slaying of Love series and follows ex-detective Newman and Amelia as they work together to find her missing brother and to stay one step ahead of someone who doesn't want them tos olve the mystery of who took him and where he is. Just the right amount of tension between the two and plenty of slow build chemistry, a lot of love, a little redemption for Newman, and a HEA for the couple make this a great entry in the series.
