After suffering an allergic reaction at work, an RN wakes up and discovers that she is actually dead and trapped in the emergency department. She has a new job. To be that little voice of reason nurses refer to as their intuition, or sixth sense, a supernatural phenomenon that keeps medical personnel from screwing up. She is the Nurse Whisperer...
Welcome to my world. I grew up in small town called Colchester in Connecticut. As soon as I graduated from UCONN, I packed my bags and headed for Beantown! I worked in the restaurant circuit which led me from Boston to the Virgin Island of St. Thomas to Florida. I then settled down with my husband, got my nursing degree, had three boys and moved to NC. A lot of my writing was inspired by my colorful journey through life. I am an independent writer and artist. All of the artwork in my books has been created by me. I hope that you enjoy my stories and share them with you friends! Thank you!
As a ER nurse myself, I have to admit: I HATE watching tv shows about the ER (I.e. Untold Stories of the ER, Trauma Life in the ER, etc, etc). I've tried to watch them multiple times but found that I can't because THEY STRESS ME OUT SO MUCH!!! I End up feeling like I'M on the clock taking care of these patients and it just brings about unnecessary stress when I'm trying to relax.
Therefore, I was reluctant to read this book. A lot of people on Facebook recommended it but I kept putting it off thinking, "Work is stressful enough on its own....do I REALLY want to read about it?!!" I was SO WRONG! This book was relatable, spot on AND educational!! I LOVE IT!! It made me laugh with the hilarious similarities I've lived through myself, it made me cry with the unexpected twists and it made me a little scared about how relatable it is to my OWN workplace (did someone come to MY ER and jot down what my co-workers and I say and do AND the patients that we see?!).
This was a great read and I regret putting it off for so long. I DEFINITELY recommend this!!!
Love this author! Her sassiness always shows in her writing along with her unique sense of humor. Keep on bringing the world your gift and sharing your imagination!!!!
Imagine being a nurse in the ER and one day dying at work from an allergic reaction. Then waking up to find you're a ghost. A ghost who is now in charge of minimizing nurse mistakes by whispering in everyone's ears when they are about to do something wrong.
I loved that this story about ER nurses was written by an actual ER nurse because I got a true and genuine view of their day to day. I cannot emphasize enough how much I respect nurses because they are all so hardworking and badass! The premise sounded so intriguing to me and I'm so happy that my copy is signed by the author. I enjoyed this book very much and I did NOT see those plot twists coming!!
Favorite Quotes: "Tread easy with boys, honey. Friends are more important right now."
"Nurses are forever expected to remain error free, but are rarely allowed a moment alone to concentrate."
"We take way too many things in this world for granted. Simple human contact, for instance. Jubilant laughter. Elated joy. Blissful sex. Unconditional love."
Listened to this on audio, or tried to, I didn't like the narrator, the voice bored me, I missed a lot of chapters as I kept falling asleep, Tried several times to get into it but sorry, couldn't do it,
I absolutely love this book! It’s so good! It helped me regain my love of reading again! It keeps you invested with the characters while teaching you a little about being a nurse!
