Tori Lewis can hardly wait for her Christmas Eve wedding to handsome Joe Clarke. But her friends and family don't think it's prudent to marry someone you just met. There's something about him, though. She's never felt safer in her life.

Now he has to find a way to tell her he’s a superhero without risking her calling off the wedding.

Kitty Bucholtz writes light urban fantasy and romantic comedy, often with an inspirational element woven in. Her stories feature women whose sense of humor and nervous gutsy-ness get them into and out of all kinds of trouble. Her newest hobby – exploring the fascinating worlds in comic books – led her to write a superhero series in the urban fantasy genre. She writes romantic comedies because – well, she lives in one!
She grew up in Northern Michigan, the setting for many of her stories, and married her college sweetheart. Their romantic romps have included a scolding at Parliament House in Belfast for canoodling, and two trips Down Under while her handsome hubby made a movie penguin named Mumble dance. While in Sydney, she earned her MA in Creative Writing. She decided to combine that with her undergraduate degree in business and her years of experience in accounting and finance to become a writer-turned-independent-publisher. She loves to teach writing workshops online and in person.
When not writing in her home office, Kitty is always looking for reasons to take work – or maybe a novel – to the beach. She and her husband regularly run half marathons to offset the hours spent on their TV addiction.
Joe and Tori are planning a Christmas Eve wedding after only knowing each other for two months. Their families are justifiably uncomfortable with this arrangement and so am I. The families, obviously, are worried that they don't know each other well enough, and, as a reader, I am privy to the fact that they are keeping very important, possibly deal breaking secrets from each other, he has superpowers, is a super hero and his job is actually a front for what he really does. She is off her meds for a psychological disorder, hasn't told him that she was on meds, or that she has a psychological disorder. This is, actually, in the grand scheme of things, a marriage that is destined to fail. They are both afraid to tell the truth because they know it could make the other run. Secrets are not a great basis for marriage, neither is keeping them for fear the other won't understand and will leave.
That alone wasn't grounds for me to hate the book, but it was the final straw and the only one that I can justifiably blame on the book. The other problems I had with it were that it was at it's core a Christian romance without mentioning that it was a Christian romance--had I known, I wouldn't have read it, but the description says nothing--and that it follows the day-to-day events of a young Christian couple preparing for a wedding. I hate bridal showers and dress fittings even when I'm there, reading about them is worse.
But these issues are my hangups and have nothing to do with the quality of the book, it would have been nice if it had been labeled as a Christian romance, but, I suppose, that is not a requirement for the author. If you like Christian romance novels and you like wedding prep, and you like superheroes, this is definitely the book for you. I imagine there aren't many books for you, if you like those three, so enjoy. You'll love it. It was written well with few grammar errors, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
Tori and Joe are getting married on Christmas Eve. What a romantic and happy time for them. However, it seems that both sides of the family want them to hold on and wait awhile before getting married. WHY? They are happy and deeply in love; why wait? Well, maybe because Joe hasn't told Tori about his Superhero powers? Or maybe because Tori hasn't told Joe about her mental issues and weekly shrink appointments? Whatever reason it is, Tori and Joe are determined to get married as planned. In a passive/aggressive manner the two families throw a huge bridal shower as they continue to tell the couple to wait awhile. Fortunately Tori and Joe do what is right for them, and the wedding goes as planned even with unexpected interference from Mother Nature.
I am sure you will enjoy this story that answers a few of the questions raised in the prequel, SUPERHERO IN DISGUISE. If you are like me, once you have read it and still have unanswered questions, you will turn to the next book in the series (Unexpected Superhero) as quickly as possible. I am halfway through that book right now, and let me tell you it is a doozy. The books keep getting better and better!

I didn't know what to expect when I signed up to do a Read & Review for this book, but I found the description interesting. The book is a fun read, with a combination of people with superpowers and people who are normal. I guess I'd classify this book as a romantic urban fantasy. The story takes place in modern times, with superheroes helping the police under the protective cover of costumes and masks. Kitty Bucholtzhe created characters that are realistic (other than the super power part), who have real feelings, emotions and problems. The main characters need to decide if they should share secrets from their past and present day secrets with each other before they get married. This book contains no inappropriate sexual scenes or graphic violence. There are many laugh-out-loud moments and a pleasantly surprising sprinkling of religious references. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a light, fun book.

This was a quick, thoroughly enjoyable book. Tori and Joe are planning a Christmas Eve wedding after a very fast engagement; however, both are keeping secrets that they are reluctant to share with one another. The author has done a great job of creating characters that are engaging and that you care about but at some point their hesitance does get a bit tedious, especially since they are about to commit their lives to one another. The story and characters are enough though to make me want to read the next book. I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I found it to be ok, overall. The characters were rather two-dimensional and not especially believable. It lacked that certain something that makes it hard to put a good book down. The thought that kept going through my head was that it was like reading a Betty and Veronica comic book, with no pictures.
My advice would be to market this line to young adult females, probably along the 11-14 year old range.
This was a cute book. I enjoyed reading it and wanted it to continue. It didn't seem that it should have ended when it did. I had figured out at the beginning that the heroine had something also. I received this book in exchange for a review.

A cute, clean comic book hero type story. Joe Clarke is part of a superhero group that is out saving the town from the criminal element and he is getting married to Tori that has some secrets of her own.
