David Devonshire has struck again, this time he has turned the tables on his sister. Vanity Devons wasn’t pleased that her big brother David had set up a meeting with Nigel Strathmore, a stodgy British textile manufacturer for an exclusive line of silks. But there was something about Nigel. The problem was she liked him. A great deal. “If you truly want me, come and get me,” she told him in jest, knowing that he did not like to fly. Especially over water. The surprise was on her when he showed up at her brother’s wedding, to accept her offer.

Let me start by saying that you Olivia Gaines, owe me a tickle box because I laughed so hard at several parts of this story that my tickle box turned completely over!!! Nigel and Whilamena were a great match right from the start of this story. To say Whilamena aka Devons was surrounded by some colorful characters is an understatement. This group of Royals did not behave as others I have read about and I attribute that to the Duke Nigel himself that opened himself up to totally embrace his wife's world as she did for his. As in every country and culture there are elements we wish were different but in this story the outcome of those elements added an additional depth to the storyline and the characters. I truly loved this story and all of its characters. I truly loved the openness of Nigel despite being the grand nephew of the Queen!!!! Olivia, Olivia, Olivia you really do know how to spin a great yarn. I am so glad I learned of this book and added it to my library. Great job!!!!!
Nigel Strathmore, the third Duke of Glastonbury and owner of Strathmore Textiles, was deathly afraid of flying, but for Wilhelmina Devonshire, he'd do anything to claim her. To him, the former model known as Vanity Devons turned creator and owner of Vanity's Pleasure, a luxury lingerie company, was the only woman for him. She made him want what he never thought he needed, a family, but only with her. He had to persuade her to take him seriously because he wanted her to be the mother of the next generation of Strathmores as Lady Strathmore.
Vanity Devons found herself under his Lordship's spell. He persuaded her to marry him and promised to be patient with her even though her past with men was not great. He wondered if he would fit into her world and prayed he would. He was scared that he would not meet up to her expectations and leave him. He had to live in her world so he could figure out how to make their marriage work. Vanity was afraid that she was not capable of satisfying him and would leave her.
I loved this story. I don't know how this story slipped by me as Olivia is one of my go-to authors to read. I love her sense of humor and she did not disappoint in this story. The Duke stole my heart. He was so patient, sweet, and romantic with Lady Wilhemina after their marriage. Everyone fell in love with her, even neglected children. It was so funny to see how the Duke was jealous of Vanity's relationships with her brothers. It tickled me to read about how the Duke discovered what playing the piano does to his Lady.
Favorite quote: “For the woman who will be the mother of my children, the caretaker of my heart, and my lifelong companion... I would cross the desert on a giant sh*t-eating earthworm for your love,” he told her as her laughter cascaded through the phone.
Olivia Gaines REALLY KNOWS how to spin a story. Nigel and Wilhelmina met in "Chasing Guinevere" their story unfolded in "Vanity's Pleasure".
Never a fan of giving away details, I'll let you know, this one had me laughing a lot.
The characters from the 1st 2 books appeared in this with some new people. Not too much of an overload of new people.
I loved this series - you should read it. It's funny and enjoyable!!! I had to purchase "Chasing Guinevere" through B&N and read it through nook. Again, read the series, it's really good.
… it wasnt terrible. I kept putting it down b/c the beginning chapters really didn’t hold my interest. This is the continuation of a family story… this time about the famous sister and her love affair with a royal. The read was somewhat romantic and humorous. The love scenes suck but hey…there are some brief laughs.
Ms Gaines this book ad awesome! I loved the characters and how they interacted with each other was great. I love the humor. I recommend this book to my fellow romance readers. Get it today you will not be disappointed.
A beautifully written fast paced full of great characters and loads of laughs story! I really enjoyed the characters and the blending of the different cultures. I feel the is still more to come.
This is one I couldn’t put down. The love between Nigel and Vanity grew across country but really over phone conversations. Vanity didn’t take his pursuit of her seriously until he showed up in person. If you want drama/love/comedy this is a must read.
I feel this was the author's version of a fairy tale. I loved the characters even though they were tip perfect. Vanity was an American princess and he was British royalty. Idealized version of real life situation. Though, I loved the writing.
Loved it! Definitely a slow burn but it was so worth it. I loved everything about this book. So many different nuances. I loved their chemistry and banter, the way their love for one another grew, and how it affected everyone around them. 10/10 would recommend & read again. 😁
I ENJOYED this book so much. It was such a good time laughing at the antics of the characters. As well as feeling their pain from serious issues addressed. I recommend that you read the complete trilogy though this book (3) can standalone
This was the dumbest, most ridiculous story I have ever read. This story is not for grown women but teenagers 17 to 19. It was absolutely absurd. A 30 year old woman who acts like a teenage. What got me the most was the premise that she is so beautiful she cannot be left alone. What a crock of horse manure! I just stopped reading this book without even getting to chapter 7. I would not even recommend this book to teenager even that seems to be th target audience. I wish I could rate it a negative 0.
I'm not sure what happened. This book was all over the place. The Duke informs her that they will marry after meeting twice. Seriously? I though this was a contemporary story not a historical romance. What happened to the strong, take no nonsense attitude. Instead we were left with a shell of what I perceived Vanity to be. I missed the boat I guess.
I can't s enough good things about this book. I haven't laughed so hard in a good while. I thoroughly loved this series and I'm sorry to see it end. But please keep writing Oliva, I'm a true fan.
When will we get Giannis story? And the other "misfits" that work at the Publishing House? A family reunion would be nice. My 3rd reading of the series. Thank you!!
