Old secrets make office politics spiral out of control in this latest novel from bestselling author Camika Spencer.
The sparks that fly at Meridian Southwest are enough to ignite the tempers of even the most dedicated professionals. Margaret is about to retire from the company, Faulkner is an up-and-comer thirsty for a promotion, and Joyce is a domineering but sexy middle-aged woman about to grab her spot at the top of the ladder. They lead very different lives. But now something strange is going on, and suddenly Margaret, Faulkner, and Joyce are unexpectedly drawn together as a tangled web woven decades earlier begins to unravel.
This was my very first book to read by Camika Spencer. I must say I was impress with the plot and storyline. It captured me right off the first few pages. It reminded me of my own personal work struggles and hit home with the office politics. I had no idea what I read was gonna unfold the way that it did. It was REALLY good. I highly recommend others read this book and I plan on reading more of her books.
The only compliant that I have is I came across quite a bit of typos. Some I know were because of the character and there were some that were just errors. That’s the only reason I said 4 stars. It’s still a wonderful book though.
Before the "Lipstick Jungle", the humorous politics of the television series "The Office", one of my reads, "Cubicles" came along. This novel is over 10 years old and challenges what your boundaries and beliefs about how far you would go to climb the corporate ladder. This is a little known gem, but it resonated with me. A must read for folks in the "Cubicle Jungle"...folks who've never been there, need not apply.
I thought the Cubicles was an okay book with some entertainment value. There was also some revelations about life and work place tribulation for me. It's not a book I would highly recommend.
