Written when Narendra Modi was in his youth the stories in the book reveal a hitherto unknown, sensitive and emotional, aspect of his personality. These stories were written during 19751977 when Emergency had been imposed in the country, Rashrriya Sevak Sangh, for which Narendra Mocli worked with, was banned and consequently he had to go underground. Several times he changed disguises to avoid being recognized and arrested. While underground, the young Narendra Modi was charged with the responsibility of preparing and distributing pamphlets and posters. These long periods of forced isolation and living incognito turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as Narendra Moth says "Till then the only writing I had done was on the answer sheets during exams. But now that I was charged with the responsibility for preparing pamphlets and posters for the mission, I perforce had to write and gradually writing became a habit. And I discovered the power and might of the humbk pen." Originally written in Gujarati, the stories have been translated into English arid Hindi.

An average book which fails to impress and is sometimes really boring and to think a complete waste of money. The short stories range from 2 page long to 10 page long. The book 130 pages thick is filled with 50 pages of short stories, 30 pages of gibberish review and literary introspection from unknown Gujarati authors and 30 pages of emptiness or a long graphic or an unknown saying. It is an utter waste of time and money. Will advise you to stay away.

In "Abode of Love," we encounter a different side of Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. Gone are the political speeches and public persona; instead, we find a young man filled with sensitivity, emotion, and a hidden talent for storytelling. Written during the tumultuous period of the Emergency in India, these stories offer a glimpse into Modi's inner world, revealing a depth that goes beyond his public image!

The book is a collection of short stories penned during Modi's time in hiding. With the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh banned and the threat of arrest looming, Modi found solace in the power of words. He began writing pamphlets and posters, and gradually, a passion for storytelling blossomed.

These stories are not mere political narratives; they are introspective journeys into the depths of human emotions. Modi explores themes of love, loss, longing, and the complexities of relationships. The characters he creates are richly drawn, each with their own unique story and struggles.

The writing style is simple yet evocative. Modi's use of language is often poetic, creating vivid imagery and transporting the reader to the heart of the story. He seamlessly blends personal experiences with philosophical musings, offering insights into the human condition that transcend time and place.

One of the most striking aspects of the book is the stark contrast between the external turmoil of the Emergency and the internal peace found in the stories. While Modi faced the constant threat of persecution, his words reveal a deep inner serenity and a profound understanding of human emotions.

This duality adds another layer of intrigue to the book. It allows readers to see Modi not just as a political leader, but as a human being capable of experiencing a wide range of emotions and finding solace in the power of storytelling.

It's important to note that the translation from Gujarati to English might have resulted in some nuances being lost. However, the translator has done a commendable job of capturing the essence of Modi's writing and preserving the emotional depth of the stories.

Overall, "Abode of Love" is a valuable addition to the understanding of Narendra Modi. It reveals a previously unknown side of his personality and offers a glimpse into the inner world of a man who would one day become the leader of a nation. The book is not just for political enthusiasts; it is for anyone who appreciates a well-told story and seeks to understand the complexities of human emotions.

Whether you are a supporter of Modi or not, "Abode of Love" offers a unique opportunity to encounter him on a personal level and discover a hidden facet of his personality. It is a testament to the power of storytelling and its ability to connect us to one another on a deeper level, regardless of our backgrounds or beliefs!
