Things are heating up on Earth, and Rico is doing his best to keep a lid on the chaos. But it’s not easy to help deal with the threats at home when you’re randomly summoned away at a moment’s notice.
From exploring a haunted mansion, protecting goblin trains, to a crooked card game, Rico does what he can to help his summoners that call upon him. The rewards for each summoning are nice, but a new arena challenge awaits Rico, and if he can come out on top, he just might gain the power he needs to keep our world safe.
Book 4 in this unique spin on isekai LitRPG, about a MC turned into a summon minion who has to complete tasks for random summoners, allowing for a variety of adventures, foes, and missions as he progresses in power each time... But is any of it random?
This book is all about The Summoning! And it's AwesomeSauce!
Ohhhh! Man! I ❤ deck-like litRPG's! And this book is just the ticket, when card players aren't in sight, with people and creatures that are Summoned! This book is all about The Summoning. And while earth ie: the government is still trying to wrap its head around the whole thing. The system, the summonings, and the magic! And Rico is doing his best to help with that and he's currently at the military base training the men, he's Summoned twice in two days! The first summoning was normal with the usual assorted tasks and Summoners, even a Dungeon Core that he had, had dealings with in the past. But the second summoning was quite different, an Arena Battle, it was a survival of the fittest battle, taking just over 50 days or so if you wanted to complete it to the best of your ability... good thing that time is meaningless during a summoning!!! So yeah grab the book to find out how Rico did in the Arena fight!
I really liked how Rico's class is improving over time and how the meta shifts in such a way that there are more strategies to consider beyond what we've been seeing in the past. Dean Henegar did a great job with this book, and I actually think the series is progressing in a very productive pace and direction. I can only tell you that I really look forward to the next book in the series because I am hooked at this point. Great writing, as always. Although one thing I would like to mention is that there were some minor spelling mistakes when I read it. Not very many, and certainly not enough to ruin the experience, but I feel like a bit of proof reading would go a long ways to smooth things out. It happens to everyone, especially LitRPG authors who are writing a mile a minute missing tiny things with the grammar here and there.
You are Summoned book 4 continues the adventures of the main character in this story. New adventures, some serious battles, and as always, some glimpses into the inner workings of the world, though not nearly as much as we've seen in previous books. Still though, the story is a pretty good one, so if you've enjoyed any of the previous books in the series, you'll probably like this one as well. Need to wait another three plus months for the next one, but it should be a good one, so will keep busy reading other LitRPG titles until then.
The first part of this book was similar to the previous, with Rico being called for summons and integrating into the new quasi government group, the final part is different.
Spoilers ahoy.
I am not one for town/nation building stories where things move too quickly. But a reason is given for this. It is the arena challenge, so each summoned being has a limited amount of time, and limited resources to build their empires. And not many will do better than a summoner at leading minions. Tom out
I'm going to be honest and just tell you I read this entire series as it was being written over on a royal road. It was my top pick for Wanting to read the very next chapter as soon as it came out. It didn't just do it for a book or 2 it did it for the entire series. I wish there was more. Unfortunately at the time there are only 5 books in the series Unfortunately at this time there are only 5 books in the series.
The author is super creative and I love all the adventures and summoning arcs. Really great. However everything dealing with home is terrible. Police or military and even tacos is a negative that subtracts from the story. Even every time the mc mentions things he learned back home made me cringe. It’s so strange that there is such an extreme difference in writing. Keep up the adventure.
I am still liking this series and the basic concept quite a bit. But the author needs to start fleshing out the side characters more. Rico is in summonings for most of this book and therefore there are no real characters for Rico to interact with.
One thing I'm hoping to see is that his summons become somewhat real people once they hit veteran status so that we get to like his summons and they get some personality beyond just weird spell templates and gear.
Still going strong and hasn't lost my interest! Still like the MC, and he doesn't do stupid things to move the story. Writer is doing a great job and writing fairly fast. Obviously not a nom de plume for George R. R. Martin. I highly recommend this series!
It seemed shorter than normal as a good chunk of the book was one summoning but a real cool look at blending another game style into the series. Definitely looking forward to the continuation.
The first book was good, new concept, pretty interesting. Books 2 and 3 were so so for me. This book wasn’t so much my cup of tea, not a huge fan of fantasy in the modern world, but that’s just me.
My main issue with this book (again a personal preference thing) is 1/3 of the book is the MC playing an empire building game like Civ basically, and just listening to him allocate resources without any real tough decisions and minor action for 4 hours got old real quick.
