This is the first 5 books of Kelvin Allison's 'Gomorrah' franchise. The first novella (Gomorrah) is one of the all time best extreme zombie horror books. Extreme horror is mainly about the shock and awe, so it really says something that this is one of the few extreme horror books I've read more than once. It goes down hill from there. Wrath has the standard ’we've found the zombies and they are us' plot of most splatter zombie reads. Think of the 'Crossed' graphic novels or any other 'rage virus' horror. The characters and delivery are Gomorrah's claim to fame. The original two anti-heros [anti-villians?] are very interesting, making the 1st book and the beginning of the second riveting. This is a blessing and a curse. Gomorrah is horrible and wonderful which is not mutually exclusive in extreme horror. But as Allison adds batch after batch of fresh meat, you're just going to miss the first novella.
Gomorrah: 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend, although perhaps stomach churning. The virus hits and all hell breaks loose.
Sodom: 4 out of 5 stars. The men are temporary well again and now the woman can have their vengeance. Will Zoe pay everyone back for her suffering? Will the new antihero (a guilty gym teacher) redeem himself after slaughtering half his class?
God: 1 out of 5 stars. What happened here? Short story that gives us the backstories of the vicious doggies and their original owner. More of a story IDEA than a story. Short, bloody but mundane. Were deadlines killing Allison's vision? Could have been great with 60 more pages and a plot.
Eden: 3 out of 5. Finally the woman are free from the virus! But oh sh#t! The survivors from our gym teacher's class are getting really crazy and violent. More of the same. Basically the 2nd book but with mainly new characters since the first batch didn't make it. Allison mostly delivers, but ran out of ways to top himself and not get taken off Amazon, so he had to start check-listing. Special needs victim? ✔️ Colostomy bag? ✔️ Wheelchair grape? ✔️ Not bad, but not Allison's best work. Pro tip to these characters: if someone pulls a knife, don't surrender so they'll go easy on ya. It's not working out too well.
Devil: 2 out of 5. This might have been equal to Sodom or Gomorrah if Allison had had the time to have it proof read. The wrong word is constantly used. The dog's names are mixed up. The is he, her is him and grammarly screwed the author over repeatedly with words that have some of the right letters, but make zero sense so you have to just guess what was supposed to be there. And YES I get it, you can't properly proof read your own stuff. I do the same thing constantly. I can't tell when I've swapped the, they, and hey. The words are always correct in my head, because the story's already correct in my head. But that's why you send out proof copies if you're selling a book. Besides that, this the final entry in the gruesome pentilogy, is riveting, grueling and even sad, showing just how much Allison can do with characters that get more than two scenes before they buy the farm. Definitely wait for a re-release with some basic editing before you read it, though... Overall 🐶🐶🐶 out of 5 grape pooches. So much potential. Can't stick the landing.
When an author warns you that their latest series is the most disturbing and extreme they have ever written, heed their warning!
For the first time, all books in the Gomorrah series, Phase One in a single, stunning edition.
These are intense and the visual imagery is very, very disturbing. But what is truly horrific is the utter disposition, the detachment from reality, and as the series progresses, the disturbing opportunism.
And as an added bonus, you will get a glimpse of the first chapter of Paris, the first part of Gomorrah Phase Two…the cloud is on the move!
Dr. Collins, a disgruntled government geneticist, and sick bastard of a man, creates a compound for the government in order to take away the empathy, guilt, and remorse from soldiers in order to make them emotionless killing machines, who followed the most disturbing of orders. When he feels shunned by the unit in charge of the research, Collins take matters into his own hands, and released the chemical compound over the Isle of Wight, and down upon unsuspecting residents, and tourist, alike. In a beautiful cloud of shimmering glitter, caused by the missiles launched over the seafront, men begin to cough, and choke on the air. Shortly afterwards, they all lose their minds, and begin to attack women, and children in the most vile, depraved, and disgusting fashion. Does it only affect the males who came into contact? How long with the atrocities of the outbreak last? And, how far has it spread? It took me a while to get around to reading these, and these were my first read from Kelvin. The concept is wildly creative, and very descriptively written. The acts performed in this series are absolutely vile, disgusting, and unnerving. Definitely not for the weak of stomach, or faint of heart. Some of the deaths, while creative, and intense, leave you feeling gutted, and a twinge of despair. That being said, I really like this phase. My favorites had to be, "Sodom", and, "God"! "God" was a very awesome take on a side story, that blended with the main story perfectly, and was well written. The perspective of the main character in "God" was wildly imaginative! I highly recommend this series to anyone who has minimal to no triggers, as this pushes the envelope very much with it's savagery. There is, also, a sneak peek at Phase Two at the end, and it looks like it's gonna be just as fucked up as Phase One! 5⭐/5⭐
