Omega Fairy Tales #5

The Silver Dragon Prince

Rate this book
Once upon a time, in an enchanted kingdom of captive omega princes and jeweled dragon alpha princes….

Obi

I might be the youngest and least experienced of my brothers, but I still want to be in the center of the action when the time comes to overthrow my cruel father to establish a new kingdom of peace and justice.

There’s just one problem. I’m the fated mate of a dragon, which means I’m falling hopelessly in love with a man I barely know, whether I want to or not. And for some reason, that man reminds me a lot of one of my father’s closest advisors, Councilor Dormas.

Argus

For years, it has been my sworn duty to protect the captive omega princes from their evil father from within King Freslik’s inner circle. Now the time has come to throw off my disguise as Councilor Dormas, to help bring about Freslik’s defeat, and to finally claim my sweet, passionate mate.

But can I overcome Obi’s high spirits and unjustified sense of betrayal? Coming to grips with having a fated mate isn’t as smooth and easy as the fairy tales say it is. My and Obi’s bond might be doomed before we can adjust to it, and our passionate conflict could spell disaster for everyone fighting for a better future.

The Silver Dragon Prince is part of the Omega Fairy Tales, which were first introduced in Their Alpha. It is a tale of mismatched mates learning to love each other, of a feisty, young omega butting heads with his older, dragon alpha, and of two people who are actually perfect for each other figuring that out amidst a struggle between good and evil.

Obi and His Mate . . .

“Once upon a time, in an enchanted kingdom of captive omega princes and jeweled dragon alpha princes“ our story begins…. Obi (who caught my attention right away as a fun and admirable character) is young and inexperienced, but he is sassy and courageous, eagerly awaiting the overthrow of his cruel father which will hopefully bring peace to the land. But he isn’t happy that he is the fated mate of a dragon he doesn’t even know! He also isn’t pleased that his mate is too much like one of his father’s advisers, Councilor Dormas (Argus). It’s too bad he didn’t know that the Councilor for years has been protecting the omega princes. He will now step into the light, defeating King Freslik and claiming his mate at last. Convincing Obi that he was not “betrayed” will be a tough job, and Obi will stand up and fight for himself if he doesn’t accept his fated mate. Can the two of them learn to give their love a chance? Both are strong and stubborn. Both are fighting for what they believe is right. Will they recognize that they both want the same thing and will make a perfect pair?

Here's MM Farmer's latest: "The Silver Dragon Prince." It's the fifth novel in her Omega Fairy Tales series.

Ohh, I was delightfully surprised by Obi's sass. His attitude. He stood up for himself and what he believed in. He didn't shy away or back down just because society told him too. Argus was confused at first, but he also thought it was adorable as hell.

Argus was willing to do anything and be anything to protect Obi and his brothers. He had done it for years. And he was willing to put Obi's feelings before his own after they officially met for the first time and bonded.

Their relationship was bumpy and beautiful, and like their brothers, it wasn't easy. Love just isn't. But they, like their brothers, they had to fight against King Freslik. Though, his final defeat is coming very, very soon.

The Silver Dragon Prince is the fifth book in the ‘Omega Fairy Tales’ series. It stars Obi, the youngest omega prince, and Argus, a silver dragon. This is told in first person from Obi and Argus’ povs.

As usual, the cover of this book is just as gorgeous as the rest of the ones in the series. The graphic artist did an amazing job.

The blurb does a good job of explaining the plot so I won’t go into it much. Argus is disguised as Councilor Dormas, when he’s in the human world. He’s looks like an old, wizened, advisor to King Freslik. Argus has been protecting the princes as best he can from the far deadlier punishments that Freslik wants to exact. Unfortunately for Argus, Obi is apoplectic when he finds out that Argus, as Dormas, didn’t do more to save Obi and his brothers from their father. And that’s where most of the conflict happens in this story.

Obi fights against his attraction to Argus, cursing Fate for not giving him free choice in who he bonds with. He’s also furious, and confused that he was somewhat attracted to Dormas, an old man who was Freslik’s advisor. Obi is hot-headed, impatient and wants to destroy his father. Bonding, mating, and becoming a papa is far, far down on his to do list. He feels manipulated with no choice in his life, much like being locked in the tower by his father. Finding out Argus was Dormas caused Obi to explode.

Argus was clever and kind. He tried to be patient, but he was torn between wanting to be with Obi, who hated him, and dealing with the problem with Freslik. The differences between Obi’s temperament and Argus’ was quite profound.

I really enjoyed this book. I think it was one of the better ones in the series. I liked that it focused more on the relationship between Argus and Obi rather than the coming war. However, I think Obi’s change in temperament was rather abrupt once he birthed their egg. Suddenly, he had a more amiable personality and was more willing to listen to Argus. It felt like one of those ‘magic d*ck’ moments I don’t care for.

This book is slightly shorter than the others in the series. I did enjoy the plot and the characters, and the teaser in the last chapter about the use of black magic. I give The Silver Dragon Prince, 5 Stars.

I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest and unbiased review.

This is the fifth book in the author’s Omega Fairy Tales series and features Obi, the youngest prince, son of the evil King Freslik and his silver alpha dragon mate, Argus—one of King Freslik’s most trusted advisors…or disguised as one anyway. In all actuality, he had been interceding on the princes’ behalf for years in an attempt to protect them and to curb the king’s greatest cruelties.

As the youngest son, Obi had suffered greatly without the benefit of knowing anything different and as such, he wasn’t sure he WANTED a fated mate…he was trying to escape being under his father’s thumb, he didn’t want to be stuck under another alpha’s control. Argus, on the other hand, was crushed as he’d always cared for Obi and known he was his mate.

Things are starting to get a little tense. We only have one more prince to go and King Freslik is getting closer to insanity though he now has a magic bearer who’s determined to help him defeat both his nephew from taking the throne as well as the dragons. The final book in the series is shaping up to be a real toe curler, not least because Freslik has magic but also because the battle between he and Argus was much too close for comfort and could’ve had a much different outcome—how much worse can things get?

We ended on a high note, however, with Obi, Argus and all the other dragons and their mates celebrating their current safety along with that of their eggs though the upcoming battle is looming closer than ever.

This series should really be read in order as things are built one upon the other, book by book but it’s a completely riveting series. I wish they were all in one volume and could be read back to back to back—I think it would flow much better and you wouldn’t have to worry about forgetting something. Personally, I plan to reread them all together again after the final book because I’ve noticed, myself, little details that I’ve already forgotten about the first few books. I hope other readers will give the series a try, I think you might enjoy it as much as I have. 5+ stars!

I received a copy of this book for free but am voluntarily leaving a review.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5
We are now on the fifth book about the 6 princes and their dragon prince fated mates, with the youngest prince, Obi, “finally meeting” his fated mate. Unbeknownst to him, he actually has known his mate for a good portion of his life, just not in his true form as Argus, but as Counselor Dormas. Argus has spent the last several years using his magic to tone down King Freslik’s plans for the princes, protecting them as much as he could.
Obi is not particularly happy about finding out Argus has been around for years but hasn’t stopped Freslik, not really understanding why all of the bad things their father has done weren’t stopped long ago, but actually mating with his dragon and “being with egg” tempers him a bit. He will be able to join the fight with his cousin, Lord Osric, and his brothers, all set to happen in book 6, Rumi and Emmerich’s story, where the final battle with King Freslik and his unknown magical helper will be revealed.
This is an entertaining series where we learn more about each prince and dragon couple as the mating bonds are formed. Currently, the fated brothers live in the dragon’s magical world unless they are in the camp with Lord Osric. It will be interesting to see if they will remain in the magical world once their father is deposed, or if they will share their time between the two worlds to help Osric and benefit their people. Not having read the dancing princesses tale on which this is based, I don’t know how the original tale ends. Will wait and see. I look forward to the battle, the unmasking of the magical person helping Freslik, the downfall of the despot, the reveal of other secrets, and the arrival of all the baby dragon cousins, sure to be an exciting time for dragons and princes alike.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.

More princes and dragons

If you follow Merry Farmer then you know that she has decided to become a citizen of the world and wandering around as a nomad. I am sure that she will encounter even more things that will inspire her writing. This can only be a good thing at least for me because I love her writing already and I can’t wait to read what things develop in her interesting brain.
Now if you haven’t encountered Ms Farmer’s books before then I suggest you go back to book one of this series The Ruby Dragon Prince. This is book five of six that she has planned (so far) of the six poor princes locked up by their father.
As the youngest child in my family I have been looking forward to this book about Obi who is the youngest prince. I loved this book especially how Ms Farmer treats Obi’s place in the family and the consequences of it. I also really liked the push and pull between Obi and Argus. We know before Obi does that his fated mate has actually been disguising himself as the terrible Councilor Dormas. The conflict that Obi feels is not glossed over by Ms Farmer, but worked into the story and the emotional growth that both Obi and Argus have to go through is very well dealt with.
Of course there is the overall story of the situation in the princes kingdom which will presumably be finished up in the next book. There are a lot of hints in this book that there is more going on than anyone knows (except Ms Farmer hopefully). I love the skillful approach that Ms Farmer has to developing all of the threads of this story into one. One more to go and then we will have to wait and see what tickles her writing brain next.

We are now on book 5 of the Omega Fairy Tales and these books must be read in order to understand the story as there is an ongoing story arch.

I think Obi is one of my favourite of the Omegas. He is the youngest and had the least experience of the outside world before they were all shut away by the king.
He wants more than the fated mate/fall in love with a man he doesn't know and bear children, he wants to explore the world, get romanced.
While naive, I really like that he doesn't go by Omega standards, his thirst for more is what makes him likeable.

He knows that his dragon is at court in disguise but has no clue who it is.

Argus has a problem, his mate has no idea who he is, Obi has no idea what Argus did over the years while pretending to be an old courtier.
So when Obi is not falling readily into Argus' arms but demands more than the idea of insta love thanks to fated mates, and the secret identity Argus took on is revealed, problems arise when Obi is just feeling utterly deceived.

Challenged by Obi, Argus does has to look hard and long at what he did or maybe didn't do and that maybe the dragons should have pushed earlier for more than observe and find their mates.

These two are pushing against the standard, I like that they actually need to learn about each other to make this work.

The story arch itself is heating up, their Omgea's cousin is pushing for the final battle but there are more secrets which are starting to be revealed and leave this book with a slight cliffhanger at the end.

The fifth book in the series & it’s Obi’s story. I loved how spirited Obi was & loved how his & Angus’s relationship changed & developed, it wasn’t easy there was conflict, hurt & anger which all needed to be resolved. This all happens against the backdrop of events accelerating in the conflict with the omega princes’ father. A very well written engrossing story, the characters have depth, the pace is good. There’s intrigue, misunderstandings, surprises plus the build up to the final conflict
I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own

In an enchanted kingdom, Obi, the youngest and least experienced omega prince, is eager to join his brothers in overthrowing their cruel father to establish a new, just kingdom. However, he faces a complication: he's falling helplessly in love with his fated dragon mate, who strikingly resembles his father's advisor, Councilor Dormas. Unbeknownst to Obi, Argus is Councilor Dormas, who has spent years undercover protecting the omega princes from within King Freslik's inner circle. Now, the time has come for Argus to drop his disguise, help defeat Freslik, and finally claim his mate, Obi. Their journey is fraught with challenges, as Argus must navigate Obi's high spirits and feelings of betrayal. Their passionate, fated bond is far from the smooth fairy tale, and their personal conflict threatens to jeopardize the larger fight for a better future for everyone.

I enjoyed this story although I did find Obi's sense of betrayal and high spirits a bit tiresome as it went from emotional to silly. I'm sure that King Freslik mentioned the name of his ally but it was ignored. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and set in the omegaverse with MPREG.

The Silver Dragon Prince is the fifth book in MM Farmer's Omega Fairy Tales series. This one is the story I was waiting for. It did not disappoint. At the end of book four, King Freslik captures and re-imprisons his last two remaining omega sons. He informs the youngest prince, Obi, that he's giving him in marriage to one of his oldest councilors Councilor Dormas, who happens to be alpha Dragon prince, Argus in disguise. Argus spent years protecting the omega princes, knowing all along that Obi was his fated. When he reveals himself to his mate, Obi feels betrayed. Hurt and angry, Obi doesn't make it easy for Argus. A rocky start for this book's mains.
I really liked Obi's sassiness and his zest for life. He didn't roll over with an "alpha knows best" attitude, even thought about resisting the mate bond. Argus was equally stubborn. Their clashes were as interesting as their steamy encounters.
Thoroughly loved the book. One more omega to go. And Freslik will finally get his comeuppance.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my review.

The ongoing saga of the 6 omega princes and their fated dragon mates. This is the story of prince obi and Argus, the silver dragon. Four of Obi's brothers have found their mates and escaped the cruelty of their father's castle. Obi has been told his mate is a secret spy disguised as someone within the castle. That makes Obi irate because he doesn't understand, if his mate has been there for years, why hasn't he done anything to rescue them from the abuse they have suffered. Argus is not certain how to show his omega that he actually has been working hard to protect Obi and his brothers. This book is the angstiest one in the series so far. While these two are fated mates it doesn't go exactly to plan like it does in the others. They are immediately attracted to each other, but Obi raises some fair points that don't usually get raised in an omegaverse story. I can't wait to see what happens in the last installment!

“Whatever are you doing in a broom closet in the middle of the night?”

This is book number 5 in the Omega Fairy Tales series by MM Farmer. I'm so sad, this means there's only one book left.

This tale is about Prince Obi, the youngest omega prince and the silver dragon Argus, who has been tasked with protecting the omega princes from their evil father King Freslik.

Obi is hoping for romance and wooing when he meets his fated mate. Their first meeting is a disappointment and Obi feels like he's being forced into something without even getting to know his mate first. The more Obi learns, about his mate, the more deceived he feels.

Argus has his work cut out for him, Obi feels like everyone knows something he doesn't, fated mates, meggs, one more brother to go, can good triumph over evil

Obi & Argus
These two had such a sassy relationship. Granted, it was mostly coming from Obi's side, but Argus fed off his reactions and they were so interesting to follow. I love the dragon princes and their mates, and each story attends to the unique needs of their kingdoms and how the story needs to develop. I loved how the romance between the princes evolved as the men continued to work together and work off one another. It may have started out a bit unhappy and snappy, but that only showed how much the two had in common, and hinted how their life would be in the end as well.

I really enjoyed my time devouring The Silver Dragon Prince. Obi's story is the second to last for the conflict against the omega princes' father, but there is quite a bit of drama and action for such a quick story. I'm really curious to see how Rumi & Emmerich's story develops as the finale, especially with the additional information we're only just beginning to learn about by the end of this story.

I received an authorized copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

PNR, fated mates

Obi is so fierce and sassy.
I absolutely loved this little spitfire and his unwavering support for those he considers his friends and family.
Argus has his work cut out for him as his fated mate.
Specifically because Obi-Wan feels betrayed by everyone for keeping secrets.
Argus definitely feels the brunt of that misplaced anger and hurt but he bears it with grace and plenty of patience.
The plot keeps twisting and the final showdown is coming.
I'm definitely excited for it but a little sad as well, I've fallen in love with these characters.

Obi is not ready to meet his mate, as one of the youngest of the omega prince’s he wants to help his cousin overthrow his father. Argus the silver dragon prince has been disguised as Councilor Dormas in his father’s trusted advisors. When a secret meeting, gathering allies against his father is interrupted by King Freslik everything seems to go wrong. Obi feels betrayed by Argus, now knowing he is part of the kings inner circle. This series is getting more intense with each book. I’m looking forward to the next book, but also not wanting the series to end.

This entire series is wonderful. In the Silver Dragon Prince, we meet Prince Obi and the Silver Dragon Argus. I really enjoyed their characters and getting to know them. It's refreshing to see the dynamic of truth and honesty play out between these two especially since life has been so traumatic for Obi. I cannot wait to see how the final book plays out to conclude this series. It's one of my favorites.

I'm voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. I liked how Obi finally accepts Argus as his mate and that Argus did the best he could in helping the Princes and others. Things are getting close to the end but there is a new wrinkle that may cause problems. I'm glad Obi and Argus accept their love for each other and that Argus allows Obi the freedom to do as he wishes with his protection.

Sassy Obi

I didn't think Obi would be more stubborn than Leo. I was so wrong! I will admit, it took me most of the book to warm to his character. Though I could relate to how he felt there is no choice in mate where fate is concerned. Argus proved he was the one that was a perfect match for him though. One more book to have this wrapped up and I am hesitant to read it because, again, it is the final book.

This is the fifth book in this series and this time we get Obi’s story. This really needs to be read in order because the backstory is ramping up. We’re getting close to the final battle and the mysteries and intrigue are piling up. This is a fantastic story with some excellent characters and some amazing world building. I can’t wait for the next story.

The latest installment in the Omega Fairy Tales series is fine. It's well written and edited as expected; however, this one just fell a little flat for me. The connection didn't feel as strong as the other's in the series and Obi almost seemed to get a personality transplant when he made peace with Argus. In a way it felt like a filler story on the way to the final book in the series. I will continue the series because I want to know how all of it concludes.
I received an advance copy from the author for my honest opinion.

Wonderful story to add to the Omega Fairy Tales series. Obi, a Prince, and Argus, a dragon shifter are fated mates, but Obi thinks this is unfair. While working together to overthrow Obi's father he comes to realize the gift he's been given. Loved how patient Argus is and how they come to work together. Can be read as a standalone, but the series is wonderful and I recommend.

Obi was a little too dramatic and bratty for me but he is the youngest of the 6 brothers. Argus was a calming presence and helped Obi when he was acting up. I enjoyed seeing the other brothers throughout the book to help Obi with his fated mate. The twist at the end with the King has me anxiously waiting for the last book to find out what happens.

Argus and Obi's story is another great one in the Omega Fairy Tales series by MM Farmer. I love the fairy tale world MM Farmer has created in each of the books so far. In this one, she explores the nuances of fate, what it means to be "fated mates," and what it means to fall in love. I can't wait for Rumi's story!
