Like another book in my "bookshelf", this was also required for my Composition 101 college class.

It is a rather extensive and comprehensive textbook. Not something I would choose for a reference manual, but does provide some information.

It introduces itself to the student/reader with the chapter "Principles of Good Reading and Writing" wherein Critical Reading; Active Writing; and Finding and Supporting a Thesis among other topics.

The book goes into developing a good paper and how to achieve one. Some of the methods included are classification and division; cause and effect; comparison and contrast; even literary analysis.

Like other "English" books, this book also covers research, style, self-tests, and even a glossary.

As I have other books, I do not use this one much for research, but I still keep it close.
