Doomed to Torment is the sixth book in the Inherited Damnation series…..
It’s Isolde’s turn for mortality in this book and I’ve been waiting for this one because Isolde is the most purest of spirit of the eight children and I wanted to know how she would struggle with her dark side because she is so light. She is also very much like her mother in looks and power so it was going to take a special kind of man for her. I thought Angus was definitely that man, in the first few chapters we come to see him as a devoted family man but one who is lost after losing his wife years ago and really in need of some love and guidance from someone special – a job which Isolde is perfect for. They have a history together and are both attracted to each other but Angus is hurting and Isolde is afraid of her dark side rearing its head but she is drawn back to him when she hears that he is selling his ancestral home, putting his child in boarding school and just giving up, so determined to make him see the error of his ways, she comes back to set him straight.
Their reunion does little to quell the attraction between them but the stubbornness of both will be a stumbling block. Angus’s son is crying out for motherly love but Angus is hiding everything that reminds them both of their wife/mother and is therefore not helping the grieving process for either of them. Isolde can see that they both need healing and has really taken to the little boy also but when his father is being so adamant things get done his way….her help is worthless. Whilst packing the estate up, trying to figure out what’s going on and resisting each other – they stumble across the scroll and Isolde knows what that means but she is also left in a quandary because if she gives up her immortality, she gives up her power and that power is the only thing that can destroy their father…. So what is she to do?
As the feelings deepen between Isolde and Angus, they gain clarity in their thoughts but is it too late?
I really enjoyed this instalment of the series and had been looking forward to this book. I thought the coupling of Isolde and Angus was perfect and Angus was just the sort of broken man that you would expect Isolde to be drawn to. Given their shared history it was easy to get into the feel of the relationship and enjoy the push and pull between them, we were treat to plenty of hot moments that really raised the temperature of the story. I also liked how Angus’s son was integrated into the plot, it gave this story something different and also linked well into Isolde’s history. We know the main storyline is all about the main character overcoming the curse of the family and in doing so, delivering a blow to their demonic father which will eventually free their mother’s spirit so she can finally be at peace and all of the books follow that formula. This was slightly different because I didn’t think Isolde really had to battle her dark side in this, her big dilemma was whether she would give up the power she held that gave the children the advantage against their father plus Angus had to go through his own process to be able to let Isolde in. The fact that the child also played a part was a plus for me and I really liked what the scroll had planned for them to break the spell. Drandars presence was felt throughout the book but not in the normal way and it was definitely a game changer for the end confrontation. This was another satisfying read though and considering the two siblings that are left are both loving their dark side….. I wonder how they will find their redemption.

I've been waiting on Isolde's story. One of eight siblings who were born of an incubus father and a high priestess mother. When their father brutally killed their mother centuries ago, he cursed the eight to a life of darkness. They would forever walk in darkness killing any they fall in love with. Six have fought that darkness with the light they carry from their mother, five have found the secret to mortality leaving Isolde the last who tries to walk in light. Each time a sibling finds their mortality, it's one more blow to their father bringing him closer to death. Here's the rub... the last two siblings walk in darkness and will try anything to keep the others from harming their father. Isolde carries power from their mother and feels she's the only one who can keep the mortal siblings safe now.

Enter Angus and his son. Isolde is in love with both and is twisted in what she should do to keep them safe. Little do any of them know that they are connected through centuries and she will be their salvation....if she chooses.

This story pulled at my heart. The love she carries for this man and his child touches deep. Sometimes I wanted to throttle Angus but the story wouldn't be what it is were he any other way. He IS loveable, just fighting his own demons the only way he knows how. I love the way Claire is taking this series and can't wait to see what's in store with the last two siblings who embrace the darkness. Something tells me I'm in for one hell of a bumpy ride and I'm really excited to take it with these characters.

Isolde and Angus shared a mind blowing kiss, causing Isolde to leave Hatherly Hall. Her father is an incubus and she has been cursed, doomed to never fall in love. And she is quickly falling for Angus.

Angus is a man who loved and lost. His wife fell into the river and left him a single parent. Unable to handle his son being near the same water that killed his wife, he makes plans to send his son to the best boarding school in England and sell off his estate and leaving Hatherly Hall. Isolde gets word and she comes back, despite the fear of losing her heart. And losing Angus to her curse.

Angus is a man who breaks your heart. You can imagine how he feels…trying to be a father to his son while mourning his wife’s death. Then in comes a lady he can’t deny and he feels guilty. He tries to do the right thing for his family but ends up just pushing his son away. I found myself rooting for him because he deserves a little bit of happiness.

Isolde is a strong, feisty woman. She knows what she wants but knows that falling for Angus means death and that she won’t deal with. But love can’t be denied and that creates all sorts of issues. Isolde’s father is evil and is looking to come back into power and that moves Isolde to give the ultimate sacrifice.

Read this book and get invested in the series. Claire Ashgrove is an author who brings characters to life and you almost forget that they are fiction.

I was given this book on exchange for an honest review.

Doomed to Torment is the 6th book in the Inherited Damnation Series. This book follows the tale of Isolde and her struggle to follow her heart and protect those she loves. This series keeps getting better with every boom I read. Each sibling has their own reservations about becoming mortal and defeating their Incubus sire. Isolde is strong, loving, and determined. Much like her mother. Her demon half is easier to control than that of her brothers and sisters.

With only two books left in the series, I can't wait to see what the darker brother and sister have in store for them!

This series should be read in order! If you are a fan of Paranormal Romance, it is a must read!
