Crosses to Bear

Rate this book
In a Galveston, Texas lab, a lethal strain has been stolen by a terrorist faction.

In New Mexico, the population of a small town is completely wiped out.

In Las Vegas, a vicious underground clan called the Community surfaces at night to prey on the weak.

In Paris, two old foes of Kimball Hayden reunite as a kill team to hunt him down.

Now considered dead by the Vatican, Kimball Hayden is leading a secretive life living on the streets of Las Vegas. But when a parish comes under the threat of a vicious mob, he finds himself thrown back into a world of violence.

Once again Kimball finds himself in the role as the ‘priest who is not a priest’ fighting to protect those who cannot protect themselves. And when Vatican City is threatened with complete annihilation, he returns to fight a battle against a foe he cannot possibly defeat.

If you take out the recap of all the previous books and if you remove all the parts with Kimball obsessing about the past, this would be a very short book. Now, granted, what is left is still interesting and well worth reading.

Love lost

As always, a good read although I didn't find it to be as good as the others.
It was nice to have Kimball reveal his human side with regard to Sister Abby. The other parts of the story were a bit redundant.

Not much gets done once I start one of the Vatican Knight adventures. Definitely not boring, with so many twists you really can’t predict the outcome - other than the good guys generally win out! Terrific series!!

Yet another good addition to the series. Here we see Kimball struggling with his past actions and face on rogue agent.

The Vatican Knights and the Pope all believe that Kimball Hayden is dead..... just as he planned. Kimball no longer believing that he is worthy of being a Knight is now living in Vegas on the streets. He helps around a Catholic Church and becomes more involved when a gang known as the community steals from the Church. He takes on the community which leads to the death of Sister Abigal whom he had started to fall in love with.

Meanwhile, Ezekiel has stolen vials of a deadly virus and is planning an attack on the Vatican to kill Kimball who is doesn't realize is "dead" The virus is tried on a small in Mexico that is the size of the Vatican. Hayden put two and two together and realizes the attack is a precurser to an attack on on his beloved Vatican, Pope and fellow Knights.

Making his way back to the Vatican, he seek forgiveness and resumes his position as a Knight to protect those he loves.

Great mix of religion and espionage. As a former teacher of religion in a Catholic school, I appreciate the accurate information concerning the Catholic Church.

Fantastic novel.

Kimball's redemption story continues. I really liked the Sister Abigail plotline. Jones' style is getting more polished and insightful. So far, this is one of my favorite books in the series.
