John Worthington is a man who knows his place in the world and keeps to it. That is, until a letter he writes is misdirected. A simple and thoughtful reply begins a correspondence that will turn that well-ordered life upside down.
It has the beauty, elegance, and magic of the written word with a surprising twist. It re-imagines the structure of a love story. Be prepared with a box of tissues and to laugh as much as you will cry. You won’t be able to put it down. This is the author’s second book, but between this, her fairy tale, and her novel it is clear that Barb Lieberman is the master of plot twists and description. The descriptions will make you feel as though you are right there in Emma’s garden. It will make you appreciate the world around you in a way you never have before. The misdirected letter that starts it all is not only a pebble in the water for all the other characters, but for the reader as well. Be prepared for your life to change. Yes, it is that good. You might even find yourself whistling when you finish.
This book was so beautiful. The connection between John and Emma (despite their obstacles) was so beautiful to witness and beautifully written. The live letters were adorable. I also loved John's love for his sisters and how he's there for her when she's kind of outcasted for being so different, including by her sister in law. But the ending was such a Twist and tragic and heartbreaking. I did not see that coming and I think everyone should read this.
This is a fantastic page turner! I loved how the letters were incorporated into the story. How you got to learn about each character as if you are the person reading the letter yourself! This author has a gift of catching you within the first couple of pages and holding you until the book is finished.
Who knew that a letter could be so powerful. I’m not going to lie, I never really considered that people could actually fall in love by exchanging a series of letters. But the author does a great job of conveying personality through the letters. One Hass to actually read between the lines of Emma’s letters to understand why she is isolated. It is also intriguing to read about The positive changes that Jack makes. I only gave it a four star rating because the ending almost made me cry. I would recommend this book to someone that enjoys a clean historical novel with a bittersweet ending.

I love letters and I love books with correspondence as a main theme. I almost gave up when some of the letters began to be sappy (yet, some so beautiful about gardens, people, and of course, the stars) but I am SO glad I finished to the end. A twist I was not expecting.
What I enjoyed the best was the interaction between the two main characters via letters. It reminded me of one of my favorite book "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society". John Worthingon life is greatly changed when he sought a gift for his sister in a letter. Thus begins a journey through the written words. Letters. In a letter each character shares more than just words, a friendship, a chance to express their feelings, share the stars, moments in their gardens, and then genuine feelings deepens. Why dis I give this book 4 starts instead of the 5 it deserves because I was left with the feeling that there should be more, a wanting to keep going on the journey of John's life and outlook on the world. Words changes lives and you as the reader will be touched by this journey.
