The Witch Queen’s Poison
In the soft muds of the swamp’s ruin, wicked things grow. The ground turns soft and pliant, inviting all who trespass to rest in the bosom of the cold earth. Only the hard find purchase here, foul things with evil dispositions, fed by the hate of beauty and all things good. They grow in black-barked agony, the brambles twist and twine around one another. Vines of thorns crawl across the ground and climb the trees, who themselves cast darkened shadows and hide thoughts of malevolent design. So it is in Evelfold Swamps. But there the malevolence has purpose, for there, a power moves the land, poisoning it with hopelessness and despair. The Witch Queen sits in quiet contemplation, spreading her black heart through the world, poisoning it, conquering it.

The town of Bravenn stands upon the edge of this wicked earth, her people growing restless in fear, for the pestilent swamps grows ever closer. And beyond Bravenn in the wider realm of Valonthale, men begin to wonder and their own Queen grows resolute.

When Memory Fails
Long ago Gehanna’s memory failed her. She woke upon the blood soaked field with no knowledge of who she was or where she came from. But her skill on the trail and with the bow were unmatched and she took up the trade of a warrior. She founded a brotherhood in the town of Bravenn to plunder the world of adventure and thus it was that she found herself in the midst of the filth and fear of the Witch Queen’s poison.

Now all eyes turn to the Brotherhood, for they and they alone, stand upon the threshold, ready and able, but more, willing to plunge into the swamps and unravel the riddle of the Witch Queen. But thought haunts Gehanna and notions tug upon her sleeping memory and she wonders what in truth she will find beyond the Winds of Fate.

I fear this book will appeal to a very limited audience. The setting is a fantasy RPG world but the story is basically just the lead character being introspective about her relationships. She has amnesia and must reclaim a dark and mysterious past while dealing with conflicting emotions about the men in her life. The author clearly is dedicated to her writing but needs experience and editorial guidance. It’s much like the Hunger Games books but without the sharp focus on motivational conflict or understanding of politics. Recommended for early teen girls.

I'm a little biased, because I remember when the authors were writing this book. It was a little before it's time, this genre has since exploded, and it's too bad the authors don't get back at it! If you like a jaunty little excursion into a Fantasy roleplaying universe, give this one a read!

This book is written in the fantasy genre. I found it to be much better than many other books I have read in that genre. I was hooked from the start! I loved the great character development and the emotions that were evoked. Maybe, because the authors are women, they were able to tap into the emotional side of the characters that many fantasy books do not. The plot line was very intriguing and kept me wanting more. The main character begins the book with having lost most of the memories from her youth. As the book progresses, more and more about her background gets revealed. This aspect seems to have added depth to both the character's development, and made the plot line more interesting. I kept wanting to know more. It is a fun read, and very well written! I hope there are more books to come with these same characters.

For anyone who has ever played in a fantasy role-playing game, this book has the feel of a rollicking adventure that you might have played with your friends. With a party of assorted classes and races coming together to complete a quest, one can feel the similarities to a good RPG adventure. Except this book has a much more detailed setting and in depth character development.

This novel is based on a role playing game and has a very well developed setting and hugely imaginative set of characters. A good choice for anyone who enjoys this literary genre.

This turned out to be the best novel I've read in quite a while. I do hope there will be more more books from these authors.
