Rose Quartz #2

Cassidy's Daddy

Rate this book
Publishers Weekly writes, "Morris delivers...emotional heat!" (review of Marry Me Twice, Rose Quartz Book 1)

A small-town rich girl, determined to make her own way... A bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, determined to make something of himself... Young love gone sour, a secret pregnancy, a tense reunion — and a sweet, sassy little girl with an extra chromosome.

Can they pick up the pieces of the past to forge the future of their dreams?

Things aren’t always how they appear in tiny Rose Quartz, New Mexico — and no one knows this better than Trixie Belmont.

For six years, Trixie has been waiting tables at the local diner and caring for her daughter all on her own. She truly loves her life — especially her sweet, smart, perfect daughter, Cassidy, who happens to have Down syndrome. Everything is rolling along just fine...until Trixie’s safe little world is rocked by bad boy Sam West’s return to the town she thought he’d left behind forever.

Only Sam isn’t such a bad boy anymore. In fact, he’s finally fulfilled his dream of becoming a doctor. Part of him knows he’s returned to Rose Quartz to prove himself to everyone who once thought he was trash — but another part knows he’s back for one person and one person only: The former love of his life, Trixie, whom he believes cheated on him with his own brother.

Is Sam ready to forgive and forget in the name of love? Is Trixie ready to come clean and reveal the truth — that Sam is father to a special little girl with an extra-special chromosome? Can Trixie, Sam and Cassidy form the family they never had the chance to be — until now?

CASSIDY'S DADDY is Book Two of the Rose Quartz Series. It is a contemporary romance novel set in small-town New Mexico. Book One, MARRY ME TWICE, and Book Three, MIDNIGHT DREAMS, are also available on Amazon.

HEAT LEVEL: 3 Hatch Chili Peppers (out of 5): This novel contains several fully developed lovemaking scenes, plus plenty of sexual tension between the hero and heroine.

Catherine Avril Morris lives and writes in Austin, Texas, where she consumes as many breakfast tacos and double-Americanos as possible. When she isn’t eating, reading a novel, watching terrible TV shows with her husband, or chasing the two- and four-legged beasts—er, that is, children and dogs, who destroy—er, that is, live in her home, she is dreaming up sensual love stories with a pulse of humor and a whole lot of heart. Another fun fact: A long time ago, Catherine had a role in a little film called Dazed and Confused that became a cult classic. My review:

Normally - I am very weary of second chance romances - ESPECIALLY when the hero moves on and the heroine does not.

Trixie and Sam were child hood sweethearts. Sam was a little older than Trixie and even when they were dating, they waited until the heroine was of age (18) before anything too intimate too place. I thought the little flash backs were cute of their time together. You could tell that they loved each other tremendously. They were both young and stupid and made some mistakes. When Sam went off to medical school to better himself and become worth of Trixie, his insecurities played a big part of why they broke up. When he heard rumors that she was seen with his brother, then she ended up pregnant - he assumed the worst. The heroine just thought that he moved on and never looked back to this small town.

What I didn't like is that the heroine never thought to just tell Sam that he had a baby. I thought that was wrong no matter what.

I did like how the hero goes back to Rose Quartz to stay and hopefully get Trixie back. He loves her still so much and he could kick himself for not fighting for her when he thinks she went for his brother instead (who is now in prison). So he goes back for her and to be a part of his niece's life. He doesn't even care anymore that she was unfaithful. I am so glad that he decided to go back regardless of finding out the truth. That shows a lot of character on his part and shows how much he loves her.

Overall - this was a very sweet, cute and steamy read.

This is the second book in the Rose Quartz series and I loved this story it was so sweet and well written. I loved Cassie and how the author included her and her extra chromosome into the story it was really amazing. The characters were great and you will know most of the if you have read Marry Me Twice the first book of the series. I really like Trixie and her commitment to her daughter and Sam was great, both were really lovely characters. The one thing I really liked in both this book and the first in the series is that it is a romance book and will there are a few humours elements it was just focused on life (don't get me wrong I also love humour). When I read the reviews of Marry Me Twice a reviewer made the comment that the book left her feeling warm and I think that's the perfect description of how both of these books left me feeling warm inside and when I finished the book I was smiling. So I would recommend this book if you love a good love story.

FROM THE AUTHOR:

CASSIDY'S DADDY is truly a book of my heart. It's a redemption story, first of all, and a reunion story — both of which I adore. I mean, when two people have loved each other in the past, but forces greater (or lower) than themselves have torn them apart, there's just a whole lot to overcome before they can rebuild trust and rediscover the love between them once again. What's not to love about that?!

But the title character, Cassidy, or Cassie, is really the reason this is a book of my heart. Cassie, the six-year-old in the story, has Down syndrome, as does my four-year-old daughter, Pearl, in real life. Like Cassie, Pearl is bright, sassy and sweet as heck. Like Pearl, Cassie gives her parents a ton to be proud of, along with a good bit to worry over — just like any child does, whether they have special needs or are typically developing.

I really hope you love CASSIDY'S DADDY as much as I do. Trixie is a wonderful mama with a soft heart and a backbone that's strong as steel. Sam West is oh-my-God sexy, and just a little bit tortured, and true-blue. And Cassie...she's just a being of light, as are my daughter Pearl and all her tribe members who are rockin' an extra chromosome. So, yeah... A lot to love. Let me know what you think :)

I really enjoyed this book. Trixie and Sam have a history and a child only thing is Trixie never told Sam about the baby. Now that baby is a six year old with down syndrome. When Sam comes back to town and wants to renew the relationship Trixie knows she must tell Sam. But what will be his response?

This is a great story. I loved it so much I stayed up late reading it. I loved Trixie's spunk and Sam's heart. I also loved the little town in New Mexico where the story took place. A town very much like he town I grew up in.

I know I'll be reading more from this author. If you'd like to read a great book about small town America with great romance and a great plot, look no further!

Decent story but too much back and forth between the H & h and way too many inconsistencies to overlook regarding dates and details!!
