“ ‘ Don’t worry, we haven't left yet. Drop her off as soon as you can. My mystery Senses are tuned in. Who else is coming on our camping trip?” Someone knocked on the door and Mariella opened the door and saw Pippa Patterson. (aka: Peanut)
They started to head towards Salty Bay.
When they got to Salty Bay, that night Mariella's mom was making spaghetti when she needed a cheese grater. She went to get it and when she came back, the spaghetti was gone. Who would take spaghetti?
Mariella and her friends went to try to find who took the spaghetti.
Will they be able to figure out who/what took the spaghetti?
Will they catch who/what took the spaghetti?
Is it a real creature or is it a human dressed up in a costume?
I recommend this book because it gets you thinking about who/what it is, and then later in the book, it tells you who/what it is. Are you right or are you wrong?

A short review, to just express my thoughts. :)

It is not that often that I instantly fall in love with a book or a character. But with Mariella Mystery and her gang of friends? I did. From page one to the last page I was in love. The book made me laugh, it made me curious and I really loved figuring out the mystery (though I knew who the Yeti was around halfway point, but you can never know if that is certain. I have read enough books with plottwists).

Mariella is a fantastic character, she is smart, she is funny and she is a wonderful friend. And also a typical sister. Not entirely liking her younger brother or his friends. Though I can imagine why, it seems he is also making a detective agency and I can imagine how annoying that is when you also have made one.

I loved the mystery, and I loved how our main character and her friends went to investigate, sure they were afraid and at times didn't really want to go into the scary woods, but they still did things. They still tried their best. The motive the Yeti had was an olden goldie, but still a great motive. And our girls solved the mystery! Another amazing thing is that people actually and really believed our trio of girls. I have read enough books in which little kids get dismissed, even when they solved something, so I was absolutely delighted that they got the credit they deserved in this book!

The Yeti was delightfully silly and a tiny bit scary. Though mostly funny, what Yeti eats/steals spaghetti? Any kind of it, even just stealing a whole pan of hot spaghetti and walking away with it.

Of course we don't only have Yetis or mysteries or investigations, we also have a vacation and an actual problem going around.

The illustrations (yes, there are illustrations!) were gorgeous and really complimented the book, making it even more fun to read it.

I would highly recommend this book, oh and don't worry. You don't really need to have read the first books in this series. I was a bit worried about that when I found out that this book is book 5, but you can easily read this without the rest of the books.
Of course, I bought all the other books (my library only has this book and another book in the series) and I hope they are all as much fun as this one was.

The Spaghetti Yeti is a funny mystery story starring Mariella Mystery and her friends (the Mystery Girls). The Mystery Girls find themselves in the middle of an investigation when they go on a camping holiday. The campsite seems to be targeted by a yeti who is stealing everyone's spaghetti and scaring the campers! Will the Mystery Girls be able to solve the mystery of the Spaghetti Yeti before the camp has to be closed down?

The story is so funny and the mystery is very cleverly included. It is not completely apparent what has happened from the beginning, and kids will love trying to work out the mystery as they read the book. This format of this book makes it an easy and enjoyable read. The pages are laid out like a diary, with lots of illustrations and text broken into paragraphs. Because of this, the Mariella Mystery stories would be suitable for a wide range of children to read, especially those who may struggle to pay attention to books.

This book is also accessible to many ages. The diary format and illustrations help to make the book easier to read. On the whole, the language used in this book is simple, and difficult words or phrases are given a definition that children will understand. This book is perfect for children to read independently, although it is enjoyable enough for parents to also enjoy reading it with their children.

Ideal for: children aged 7-12 years old, including children who struggle to concentrate when reading.

Note: Although the Mariella Mystery books are a series, they do not need to be read in order. Each story stands complete on its own.
